Chapter 1665: Chapter 897: The Real Person

It seemed that there was more to his words, but Su Liqian was solely focused on relieving the clan’s worries and didn’t catch the meaning in the Clan Leader’s words.

"Ridiculous, who was being ridiculous?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Su Liqian was reprimanded by the Clan Leader, and with tearful eyes, she walked out of the hall.

Lin Feng hurriedly responded, "Su Liqian and I were the first to arrive at the scene, and we indeed have some clues. If the Clan Leader trusts us, let me take her along to investigate the matter. Within a day, we will surely have results."

Seeing Lin Feng’s resolute statement, the Clan Leader finally looked relieved and stood up, saying to Lin Feng, "Alright, you saved Qian’er, I trust your capabilities."

Actually, the Clan Leader’s words carried a double meaning: first, having defeated so many assassins and saved my niece, I am confident in entrusting people to you; second, Qian’er has already told me about your abilities, and knowing a bit I believe you can uncover the truth behind this matter.

Since these two conditions have already been met, what reason does the Clan Leader have not to let Lin Feng go? Seeing the Clan Leader’s words, the Elders couldn’t find any reason to argue, especially since they are busy with clan affairs, while Lin Feng, with high cultivation and being a witness to the incident, is indeed a good choice.

Seeing that there was nothing more to discuss, the Clan Leader announced in front of everyone that the investigation of the matter would be entrusted to Lin Feng and Su Liqian. In doing so, the entire clan was encouraged to cooperate with Lin Feng, and it was made clear to everyone that this decision was unanimously agreed upon to prevent any further intrigue.

Since the decision was made, Lin Feng didn’t delay any longer, hurrying out of the meeting hall, leaving only the Clan Leader and the others inside to discuss important matters. After all, Lin Feng is still an outsider, not fully accepted by the Giant Wood Clan, so he’s not privy to too many details.

Lin Feng rushed outside, urgently searching for Su Liqian. Yet, despite circling the camp, he couldn’t find her. Just when he decided to investigate alone, Su Liqian’s close maid, Xiao Cui, approached.

Xiao Cui, looking anxious, said to Lin Feng, "Young Master Lin, please go and comfort my lady. She’s currently crying alone in her room, the door is locked, and I can’t get in."

Lin Feng said to Cui’er, "I’ll go see what’s going on."

Lin Feng arrived at Su Liqian’s room, feeling deeply anxious. On one hand, he needed to cheer up Su Liqian; on the other, he had to hurry to the incident site to investigate along the way.

Lin Feng knew he didn’t have much time, but he couldn’t stop worrying about Su Liqian, so he decided to check on her first.

Su Liqian was heartbroken over being reprimanded by the Clan Leader earlier. She knew the Clan Leader wasn’t angry with her but had to say she was being foolish in front of all the Elders. Otherwise, there would be talk of him being overly protective. Only by saying this could Su Liqian avoid being dragged into the matter, thus staying safe.

She knew the Clan Leader had always protected her that way, but the more he did, the more Su Liqian felt useless. She was part of the Giant Wood Clan, yet she always hid under the Clan Leader’s wing. Now, faced with the clan’s major crisis, she couldn’t even lend a hand. Su Liqian felt she had to do something, and so she was anxious.

After a tearful outburst, Su Liqian still sat curled at the head of the bed, looking drained and dejected. Her charming face under such circumstances seemed even more pitiable.

Lin Feng knocked on the wooden door outside.

"Knock knock knock," the door sounded, but Su Liqian did not care. After three more knocks, she wiped the corners of her eyes with her sleeve, slightly wrinkling her nose, and asked gently:

"Who is it?"

No one answered, as if the person outside had heard her and then immediately left. Sensing who the person outside might be, Su Liqian hurriedly got out of bed and opened the door. Upon opening, she caught sight of Lin Feng about to turn around and leave, and called out to him.

"Why would you leave after coming?"

While Su Liqian’s words seemed to question Lin Feng, she was, in fact, being coquettish with him. Su Liqian felt Lin Feng was close, like the one who would protect her in the future. Maybe it was just her wishful thinking, yet even such wishes did not change the feelings Lin Feng stirred within her.

Seeing Su Liqian open the door and speak, Lin Feng replied:

"Knowing you’re alright puts my mind at ease."

Lin Feng’s words were cold and colorless, yet Su Liqian felt they were full of warmth. Lin Feng merely expressed that her safety reassured him, which clearly showed his concern for Su Liqian. Any woman hearing such words would be heartened, especially when faced with the perfect Lin Feng, who possessed a handsome appearance, extraordinary skill, unparalleled courage, and a gentle heart.

Such a Lin Feng, how could Su Liqian not be moved? Her heart fluttered, feeling she would dedicate her life to this person, even if he never pledged his love, she would wait for him forever.
