Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Meeting Bang Fo

"You may enter."

Shen Yuan nodded once before walking inside.

The room was unexpectedly spacious.

Bookshelves stretched from floor to ceiling, filled with countless scrolls and jade slips.

Several cabinets displayed bottles of pills, carefully arranged according to size and color.

The faint scent of ink lingered in the air.

Near the center of the room stood a long wooden desk.

A young man sat behind it.

His brush moved steadily across an opened scroll.

Not once did he raise his head.

Not once did he acknowledge Shen Yuan’s presence.

His long green hair flowed neatly behind his back like polished jade. His eyes, though fixed upon the scroll before him, were the same deep emerald color.

His features were handsome and he was wearing gray robes with crimson threadwork, creating the sigil of the sect.

The man looked calm and refined.

Nothing about him resembled the terrifying rumors that surrounded his name. He did not even look like someone who belonged to a demonic sect let alone being its inner disciple.

Yet...

For some reason...

That only made Shen Yuan more cautious.

People whose emotions never reached their faces were often the hardest to understand.

The servant girl quietly bowed before retreating from the room.

The doors closed behind her.

Click.

Silence returned.

Only the soft scratching of a brush against paper echoed within the study.

Shen Yuan stood where he was.

His posture remained respectful and his eyes lowered. He neither introduced himself nor attempted to attract attention.

If Bang Fo wished to keep him waiting...

Then he would wait.

Minutes slowly passed.

The brush continued moving across the scroll without pause.

Neither man spoke.

The room remained so quiet that Shen Yuan could hear the faint crackling of the incense burning in the corner.

Still...

He did not move.

Nor did his expression change in the slightest.

Only when Bang Fo finished writing the final character did the scratching sound finally stop.

The brush hovered in the air for a brief moment before being gently placed on its holder.

Only then...

Did the green-haired man slowly lift his head to look at Shen Yuan for the very first time.

"So, you are the new servant that has been assigned to me. Looks like you are not half bad." He looked at Shen Yuan up and down as if he was assessing him.

Shen Yuan could not even feel qi radiating from the young man. Even the guards had a powerful aura that almost made him kneeled and would have if they had tried harder.

Bang Fo looked no different from a normal human.

"I am unworthy of such praise, my lord." Shen Yuan made himself appear overly humbled. ’What is he talking about about? It feels like he knows something.’

"Don’t be modest, being able to arrive on time even when you have received a faulty scroll is no small feat. I am impressed by your dedication." Bang Fo solely stood up from the ground and placed the scroll he had just finished on the bookshelf behind him.

There were already dozens of scrolls sitting there.

Shen Yuan had no idea what was in on them but they seemed quite important with the way he was carefully arranging them.

"I was lucky. I was on my way to the market and decided to talk to one of the guards about my mission and they helped me." Shen Yuan kept the face going on while looking at the inner disciples back. But his attention was not on the scroll.

Ever since he had entered this house, a nagging feeling of being watched had been annoying him.

At first he did not realize where it was coming from but now he knew where it came from.

It was... Bang Fo himself.

Shen Yuan did not know how, but the man was able to keep an eye on the whole estate when he was simply cooped up in this room.

"Servant, I don’t care about your name nor will I bother to learn it. But let me tell you something about me, I don’t like people who are overly modest. It makes me feel like they are hiding something" Bang Fo slowly turned around and looked at Shen Yuan with his indifferent gaze.

"No, my lord."

"Good." Bang Fo walked up to Shen Yuan with his hands clasped behind his back. "Then I am sure we will get along just fine."

"Despite the rumors circulating about me, you should know that you have nothing to fear as long as you do not betray me or double cross me." Bang Fo looked at Shen Yuan from the side but the servant did not raise his head to look back or it would have been impolite. "Do the work you are being told to do and everything will be fine."

Shen Yuan did not want to give the man a reason to kill him.

Once he was done speaking, Bang Fo made his way towards the door of the room and opened it. On the last second he paused.

"Talk to the woman who brought you here. She will tell you what your work is. Do not disturb me until its something important."

A brief silence followed.

Then he added in the same calm tone,

"Otherwise..."

"I’ll drain your blood and use it to fertilize my poison garden."

Without waiting for a response...

Bang Fo stepped through the doorway and disappeared from sight, leaving Shen Yuan standing alone inside the silent study.

Shen Yuan remained where he was for several breaths.

Only after he heard Bang Fo’s footsteps disappear into the distance did he finally straighten his back.

His silver eyes slowly wandered around the study.

He wasn’t foolish enough to touch anything. Nor did he intend to search through the shelves.

After all, he could still feel Bang Fo’s gaze on him.

’I want to learn whatever technique he is using to watch everything in his house.’ Shen Yuan remained where he was for several breaths.

Only after he heard Bang Fo’s footsteps disappear into the distance did he finally straighten his back.

His silver eyes slowly wandered around the study.

He wasn’t foolish enough to touch anything.

Nor did he intend to search through the shelves.
