Chapter 2631: Chapter 2631: Sent Back (Part 3)
"Hehe." Yan Yuyu forcefully suppressed the anger in her heart, "So, what you mean is that everyone should give way to you in the future?"
"Ah?" Xu Huairui was momentarily stunned.
"This is Madam Ruyi, a proper third-rank official. If you really want to compare, even your Aunt Yan, even your grandmother, have to salute her. Now you’re telling me that Madam Ruyi blocked your way?" Despite Yan Yuyu’s best efforts to suppress her anger, her voice still trembled, "Why don’t you say the Empress or the Empress Dowager blocked your way?"
Xu Huairui wasn’t foolish. Although she had never met Yang Ruxin, she had heard her name countless times. Hearing Yan Yuyu’s words, she was terribly scared.
"Nanny Liu." Yan Yuyu called out.
A nimble old woman hurried over.
"Escort Miss Xu back personally, and explain today’s matter clearly to the County Lord of Anning, word for word. No embellishments or omissions. Tell her that our Duke Residence cannot afford to invite Miss Xu to our banquet." Yan Yuyu rubbed her forehead.
These words were not light.
There was no other way. Although Xu Huairui’s mother, Meng Shuang, was a close friend of her sister, and her grandmother was a County Lord, it still couldn’t compare to Madam Ruyi. Her father-in-law and husband had both advised the family of this, given the couple’s real contributions to the country.
Otherwise, why would the Emperor appoint a female official?
"Aunt Yan, I don’t want to go back..." Xu Huairui quickly shook her head.
But Yan Yuyu wouldn’t listen to her at all and had her escorted away. What would happen back at the Xu Family was their business.
Yang Ruxin finally realized who this overbearing young lady was. The County Lord of Anning was the eldest daughter of the old Commandery Prince Qi Tai, married to Xu Donglin, a Deputy Minister of the Imperial Stables, and then had a son and a daughter. Their eldest daughter, Xu Mengying, married Wang Jingze of Haijin City, the parents of the deceased Wang Zhengzheng.
Their son, Xu Menghai, married Meng Shuang, and their eldest daughter was Xu Huairui.
That Meng Shuang was a close friend of Yan Yuyu’s sister, Yan Dongdong, so they often interacted.
It turned out it was indeed a family with some kinship, and Xu Huairui and her cousin Wang Zhengzheng really were birds of a feather.
With Xu Huairui’s departure, the incident came to an end. Yang Ruxin took Erni and entered the gates of the Duke Residence.
Everyone had come in winter to admire the plum blossoms, so they were all gathered in the Warm Pavilion at the foot of Plum Mountain in the backyard, a pavilion built specifically for the enjoyment of plum blossoms.
By this time, the Warm Pavilion was already filled with quite a few people, some of whom were quite familiar with Yang Ruxin.
"Xinxin, why are you so late?" Jiang Fangfei was the first to see Yang Ruxin, and she ran out, habitually hooking her arm through hers. "We’ve been waiting for you for so long. Just now Zizi said if you didn’t come in a quarter of an hour, we’d go looking for you."
"I was delayed at the gate just now." Yang Ruxin smiled.
"Master." Hen Ziyue came over to embrace Yang Ruxin’s other arm, "I’ve memorized all the medical books you gave me."
"Come see me tomorrow, and I’ll teach you Hidden Acupuncture." Yang Ruxin pinched Hen Ziyue’s cheek. This Hidden Acupuncture was Dao Xuzi’s unique creation and worked wonders for some un-diagnosable difficult illnesses.
"That’s wonderful." Hen Ziyue was so excited she nearly jumped up.
"Sister Xin, where’s Xiao Douzi? Why didn’t you bring them along?" Qi Zizi came over and nudged Hen Ziyue aside.
