Chapter 53: Chapter 53: It’s Your Responsibility _1

Both of them had come to the hospital personally this time to ascertain the true condition of the patient on the bed.

Because Xu Chao had been captured, the patient’s safety would decide Xu Chao’s fate.

However, having heard Song Tianming’s words, both Xu Ling and Wang Hai felt their hearts sink.

A mere ten percent chance of success was practically negligible. If the patient couldn’t be cured, it would be the end for Xu Chao.

Xu Ling asked anxiously, "Aren’t you the best doctor there is? How can you not cure a patient? How can you even say ten percent with a straight face?"

She was somewhat frantic and did not mince her words while speaking.

Such an attitude finally made Song Tianming unable to restrain himself from questioning, "Miss, you’re not related to Miss Shen, are you? What does her condition have to do with you?"

"I..." Xu Ling was suddenly at a loss for words, not knowing what to say.

The older the ginger, the spicier it gets. After a short analysis, Song Tianming had seen through Xu Ling and Wang Hai’s intentions. With just a rhetorical question, he successfully shut Xu Ling up.

Wang Hai then said, "Regardless, in our hospital, we must reduce the mortality rate. This girl is key!"

"Doctor Song, can’t you think of a way? Is there a better method, or perhaps a more skilled doctor?"

"As long as she doesn’t die, even if she becomes a vegetable and hangs on to that last breath, the one million will be yours."

They were thinking of Xu Chao’s future, completely disregarding the patient’s plight on the bed, even capable of uttering such words.

Song Tianming let out a series of cold laughs; his expression was no longer friendly.

"I, Song Tianming, have never treated illnesses for money, Young Master Wang, please leave."

"As for a more skilled doctor, I’ve already invited him – it’s none other than Divine Doctor Ye standing before you. It’s just that both of you failed to recognize greatness despite seeing it."

Xu Ling thought Song Tianming must be out of his mind to have invited Ye Ming here.

Just as she was about to make a scornful remark, Wang Hai suddenly tugged at her sleeve.

"Don’t be so hasty, isn’t this a better method?"

Hearing Wang Hai’s words, Xu Ling was very puzzled: "What method?"

Wang Hai leaned in close to Xu Ling’s ear and shared all of his thoughts with her.

After hearing him out, Xu Ling’s eyes widened, and a smile returned to her face.

Ye Ming watched them perform their little act, unable to keep their whispers hidden from Ye Ming’s ears.

Since his promotion, Ye Ming’s sensitivity in his senses had greatly increased, turning their hushed conversation at such a close distance into shouts in his ears.

He realized then that the patient before him was the victim of the hit-and-run committed by Xu Chao.

After they had finished discussing, Wang Hai approached Ye Ming and challenged, "You claim to be a Divine Doctor, right? You can cure this patient, right?"

Ye Ming responded coldly, "What’s it to you?"

Wang Hai smirked and said, "Good. There’s surveillance in this room; everything you’ve said has been recorded."

"The treatment of this patient is now in your hands. If you can’t cure her, the responsibility is yours!"

"You will be the one to bear the consequences for this medical incident, and it has nothing to do with anyone else. Do you dare to take on this responsibility?"

Ye Ming, of course, knew what they meant; they were simply trying to shift the blame onto him, clear Xu Chao of suspicion, and make him take the fall.

Although Ye Ming felt angry in his heart, he was not willing to gamble with a patient’s life.

"I said I can treat her, and it has nothing to do with anyone else," Ye Ming said.

Wang Hai nodded, his smile gradually turning sly, thinking you just wait and show off!

As long as Ye Ming cured the patient, Wang Hai would be able to use money to settle the matter, ensuring the victim wouldn’t pursue Xu Chao’s responsibility.

This was a piece of cake for Wang Hai, and if Ye Ming failed to cure the patient, they would also create confusion and shift the blame onto Ye Ming.

For them, a situation with such dual benefits was a tremendous opportunity.

"The words came out of your mouth, nobody forced you!" Wang Hai said viciously.

After speaking, Wang Hai and Xu Ling very consciously stepped back, distancing themselves from the patient, trying hard to disassociate themselves from the patient’s condition.

Song Tianming watched from the side with utter disdain on his face, and although he didn’t say anything, he had cursed countless times in his heart.

Then, looking worriedly at Ye Ming, he wanted to speak, but Ye Ming had already given him an answer, "Rest assured, Doctor Song, I will take responsibility for the patient. A doctor’s heart is benevolent, I wouldn’t joke with a patient’s life!"

With just that sentence, Song Tianming couldn’t help but admire Ye Ming to the point of prostrating himself—it was just short of kowtowing in respect.

After adjusting his mindset, Ye Ming pulled out two Silver Needles from his pocket.

Ye Ming was merely using the Silver Needles to distract the onlookers.

He planned to use his True Qi to trap the Gu Insects and force them out of the body, without needing to rely on any medical equipment.

However, doing so would simply be too shocking to the world, and therefore, Ye Ming deliberately took out the Silver Needles.

The two Silver Needles were inserted into the girl’s shoulders, followed by Ye Ming’s True Qi slowly dispersing, entering the girl’s body through the needles.

After feeling it out, Ye Ming was even more astonished.

The shape of the Gu parasite was strange, and it could integrate perfectly with the human body, to the extent that even the most advanced medical equipment couldn’t detect it.

After being infested by the Gu, the host either suffered its manipulations for a lifetime or had their organs hollowed out by the Gu, leading directly to death.

Currently, the effects of the Gu within the girl’s body were relatively simple; it was only consuming her blood, but it was still tormenting the patient to the point of wishing for death over such suffering.

"Such a malicious method, I truly must investigate thoroughly!"

Ye Ming thought to himself.

He then began to stimulate his True Qi, tightly wrapping it around the Gu, suffocating it, and gradually pulling it out of the body.

Beep beep, the heart monitor next to the patient started fluctuating and flashing, sounding an alarm.

Song Tianming’s eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

The entire hospital had expended enormous resources and effort, but they hadn’t been able to improve the patient’s condition.

Ye Ming merely used two Silver Needles and a casual technique to achieve such an effect, which was truly astonishing.

With a plop sound, the girl suddenly woke up, spitting out a mouthful of black blood.

The bodies of the Gu Insects had been completely digested, and the black blood that was spat out was the toxin from within the bodies of the Gu.

At this point, the heart monitor completely normalized, and other instruments also began to show that the patient’s bodily functions were no different from a normal person’s.

Ye Ming withdrew the Silver Needles and said indifferently, "The patient is out of danger now. She just needs to sleep for a couple of days, and she’ll be fine."

"In the days to come, the patient will show symptoms of anemia and should take care of that."

Song Tianming quickly nodded, committing Ye Ming’s words to memory. As long as the patient was no longer in danger, everything else was not a problem.
