Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Closer

After Cronus’s departure I can hardly smile anymore, the small light I possessed in my hold has left leaving me with a cold empty darkness. I should be happy that the female who brought out the ugly jealousy from within me has left, giving me all my male’s attention but how can I when she took Cronus with her?

I hate myself further for being so selfish wanting Cronus by my side despite his feelings towards me. But wouldn’t any other wolf be the same if they were in my shoes? When you find something that you have been dreaming of all your life, would you let it go?

Deimos’s and my relationship haven’t changed a bit. He’s still the ever so emotionless Alpha and I am still the hopeful Luna, waiting for him to come to me. While I hide behind pillars trying to look at him without letting him know, he spends his time with Ragon papers in hand.

I often feel like a pup stalking the male she likes. Perhaps I should kidnap Ragon and take his place. Deimos spends more time with him than me. I think of my devious plan as I choose a book to read in Deimos’s private library.

Sitting on the warm couch in front of the window, I begin to shut down my thoughts letting the book devourer me. Further into the book, I became so engrossed that I didn’t notice that there was another Alpha in the room sitting opposite to me. Keeping my eyes on the page, my hands reach towards the coffee cup on the side table.

My fingers dip into the hot liquid making me flinch and wake up from my state. As I bring my fingers to my mouth, blowing on them my eyes widen as they catch hold of Deimos silently watching me sitting with crossed legs, his arm on the sofa’s hand rest and palm holding his chin.

"I apologize. I-I didn’t know you were here." I softly whisper to him while he makes no movement. "W-would you like some coffee? I can make you some." I ask him yet he still remains the same, silently staring at me.

My mouth salivates when I finally notice him wearing glasses. It’s the first time I have seen him wearing it. It just adds to his sculptured look making him look even more hotter if that’s possible. He feels my gaze upon him that he tilts his head to the side as if acknowledging it.

I wish to know what he feels and thinks but that would only be possible if we mark each other. The chance of that happening remains only in my dreams.

As nervousness builds in the pit of my stomach with our stare down, I raise the book in front of my face covering me from his sight often bringing it down slowly to peek at him. When I do so for the third time, I see his attention is back to reading the files he possesses in his hands giving me a chance to have a better look at him.

My eyes trail from the tips of his thick locks of hair to his beautiful eyes covered by glasses, down to his sharp jaw that holds his full pink lips. Looking back to his eyes, I see them on me making my eyes widen in turn bringing the book back in front of my face.

I keep the book up there even when I hear his footsteps towards me. He comes stands in front of me, takes the book gently from my hands and turns it clockwise returning it back to me.

"I have never seen anyone reading a book upside down in my entire life, mate." He leaves telling me those words making my cheeks heat up to a deep red. I cannot believe I had the book upside down the whole time in front of him. Why must he have such an effect on me? That I don’t even know what I am doing.

Walking towards the dining hall, I stumble across Ragon while I show him my teeth my lips raising with a show of a fang. Ragon looks surprised putting his hand across his chest.

"Have I done something to offend you, Luna?" Ragon asks me with a sly smirk.

"You take up too much of Deimos’s time." I tell him folding my hands earning a deeper smirk from Ragon.

"That’s only because you take too much of Alpha’s attention, he doesn’t concentrate on his work." He tells me with a playful tone making me blush. "If you notice carefully, you can feel him watching you and you can also hear me screaming at him to concentrate in the background." He tells me with a shrug walking with me to the dining hall.

Reaching the hall, I sit next to Deimos, as we begin to eat, I notice Deimos frowning at the papers next to his plate. He cannot seem to figure something out.

"May I?" I softly ask him.

"I don’t think you’ll know thi-" He begins to tell me as I cut him off.

"May I?" I ask him once more as he hands me the papers. I spend the rest of my dinner working out the problem that was on the papers as I often feel him watching me. As time passes, finishing my dinner I hand him back the papers.

"The problem you have on your hands is that you don’t have enough place to keep the inventory that the pack possesses therefore you need to build another warehouse which is possible as we have plenty of free land. My wolves are really good at building, they would be pleased to aid you." I tell him the problem and the solution he was trying to figure out while the pack watches and listens quietly impressed.

Putting my dish in the wash I quietly rush out to the warmth of my room preparing for the night. I wanted to finish the book I was reading as that’s the only thing I seem to get excited about. Lying on my bed looking at the ceiling I twist and turn trying to get into a comfortable position flinching when the door to my room creaks open.

Deimos enters with a pillow and blanket, walking to the couch in front of my bed getting ready to sleep. I am speechless as this has only ever happened in my dreams. I wish to pinch myself to get up from the dream but everything feels so real therefore I see no need to. After a while Deimos’s voice breaks through the silence.

"Thank you." He tells me softly.

"For what?" I question him.

"For coming to my aid." He answers me.

"You’re welcome." I tell him with a soft smile letting the silence surround us once more.

"Deimos?" I call out to him softly.

"Hmm?" He hums to me.

"Why are you here?" I ask him the question that kept lingering in my mind. He answers me with silence but speaks out after a while.

"I don’t know. I don’t know.... but I wish to find out." It wasn’t the answer I was expecting but it was good enough for me. "Tomorrow, be ready by 3pm after lunch. I wish to take you somewhere." The minute he tells me those words I sit up watching him.

"What?" I ask him hesitantly. Perhaps I misheard.

"I won’t repeat myself. Good night." He turns around on the couch showing his back to me as I lie back down looking at the ceiling with a big smile on my face.

The whole night I twist and turn under the sheets, as excitement sends butterflies through my stomach. Is it our first date? Did he actually ask me out on a date? Does he finally want to get to know me?
