Chapter 165: Chapter 165 Kal needs to learn
"When are we leaving?" I inquire into the tranquil silence.
"Shall we leave now? We shall be able to make it back home for dinner." He mutters whilst picking Kal up from the piano to place him on his hip. Little hands clutch onto the collar of his father’s shirt gripping it he takes it into his wet mouth sucking on it with eagerness. Our male fancies to put everything he sees into his mouth.
A low vibrating growl leaves Deimos’s chest as he grabs his collar from Kal’s trap. Our male knows it quite well that if this sound comes from his father or me it means he shouldn’t be doing something.
"Will we be taking your car?" I question whilst folding the blanket and placing it neatly upon the sofa.
"No, we will be taking the pack’s truck. The road downhill is quite rocky, a truck shall be able to withstand it." He replies whilst sauntering to the door grunting when Kal begins to tug on his father’s hair. Deimos grips our male’s tiny palm and inserts it in his mouth acting as though he were eating it delivering loud munching sounds. Our male screeches with glee sharing his wide toothless smile for all to see.
We take a slow steady path to the parked truck, with Deimos pointing out the variety of flowers growing in our pack for us. Summer births a unique variety here. Somehow this year our wolves seem to be bathing in joy and tranquillity, the pack seems more spirited and colourful than ever.
"You see that one, my female?"
"Which one?" I ask softly squinting to focus on what he is trying to show me. "The apricot coloured one?"
"Indeed. It is called ’Juliet’s Rose’. It took our pack fifteen years to properly cultivate it. The healer told me It is one of the rarest flowers and my mother took the liberty to plant and grow it here." He utters emeralds lighting up with his admiration of it. It is quite amusing to think that my eyes had never laid upon it despite my deep-rooted interest in flowers. I have been here for years yet why does it seem as though I was blind to many things.
Not just Deimos’s soul but to the aura of the entirety of this place. Why is it that I only see when Deimos makes way? Why is it that every piece he unfolds seems new and refreshing to me? Even the smallest of things he speaks of brings forth such immense wonderment that makes me reflect on the past.
"I did not think you were a male who was into flowers. Perhaps because of your mother?" I smile whilst I peer up at him to meet his bright cheerful eyes.
"I wasn’t but I am. Because of you. Because it is something you love. I ask the healer of what flowers we possess here in our pack and of their history for that way I can indulge in conversations that shall interest you."
A quick halt to our steps, I digest his words framing them upon the walls of my mind. He never fails to astonish me, with every day together he proves it. He proves I am his life. Leaning forward standing on my tiptoes my lips meet with the smooth flesh of his cheek.
There is a slight broadening of his eyes and quick heat ambushes him the shell of his ears turn a deep red, which makes me want to kiss him more. Heartbeat picks up the pace and he inhales my essence in. Grabbing his left hand gripping it within my palm I walk beside him hand in hand in comfortable peaceful silence as true mates.
"Have you installed the seat for Kal?" I question as we near the parked truck.
"Yes. At the back." He replies whilst pulling on the tailgate and throwing in the heavy bag filled with our belongings onto the truck’s bed floor. "Keep Kal’s bag with you in the front."
Walking around he opens my door for me waiting patiently until I am seated, once settled he bends in leaning forward tugging on the seatbelt locking it in for me. His scent pours through the small space within bringing forth the familiar feeling of home. I feel his emotions, his happiness of our short trip as a family together for the first time.
Shutting my door gently behind him he places a fussing uneasy Kal into the pup seat. Ignoring his tantrum as Deimos finally settles him and fastens the seat’s belt a high pitched shriek leaves Kal’s lips as he begins to struggle, pleading to be carried and stripped off his torture.
"He wasn’t fussy all those days I drove to the cabin with him. Calm down, my male." Deimos whispers gently trying to soothe the distressed little one wiping away tears from his male’s puffed-up cheeks with his trembling thumbs. Deimos detests it when Kal spills tears, he finds a way to always please him when necessary.
"That is because he was placed next to you right where I sit was he not? I think he does not like it much to sit at the back for he feels the distance between him and us. Leave him be, he must learn." I instruct a worried anxious Deimos.
"Perhaps he can stay up on your lap?" Deimos asks as Kal kicks his legs in annoyance and raises his hands leaning towards his father asking to be carried. His dislike of the situation shown eagerly to his father imploring for his rescue.
"No, he must learn. If we do what he wishes then he shall think it is easy to keep doing it." I reprimand both the males as Deimos’s lips curl downward his upsetness on display.
"Sorry, my male. What your mother says goes." He whispers shutting the door striding to the driver’s seat.
As the engine roars to life and Deimos begins to drive us out and away from the pack Kal’s screams pick up the intensity, he refuses to succumb to what is forced upon him. His stubbornness cannot be competed with, he is outstanding at that.
Deimos’s eyes linger on his male gazing at him every few seconds through the rearview mirror, perhaps he shall be the first to fall to our male’s antics. He is weak when it comes to his male’s cries and demands. "Deimos." A low growl of warning leaves my lips.
Rising his palms up in surrender he mutters lowly like a deer caught in headlights, "I am not thinking of doing anything, my female. It is just that his eyes-"
"Do not look into his eyes, you are the weakest and he shall trap you with ease. He will calm down by himself for he will conclude that nothing shall change."
Deimos sighs lowly gripping the steering wheel tightly he presses his foot on the accelerator wishing to get us there faster for that way he can remove his male from the pup seat and ease his discomfort.
