Chapter 131: Chapter 131 Today was Damian’s birthday
Damian’s POV
But then she’d kept talking.
"Now it’s different. Damian is kind, strong, and protective. If I get to spend my life with him, I’ll consider myself lucky."
Lucky.
She thought she was lucky to be with me.
My wolf surged forward, pride and possessiveness flooding through me.
This woman—this incredible, stubborn, fierce woman—was mine.
And she’d just claimed me in front of Vanessa without hesitation.
I couldn’t hold back anymore.
I stepped forward, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her against me.
"Damian?" Her voice was breathless, startled.
"I heard you," I murmured, my lips brushing her ear. "And I’m honored."
She melted against me, and I tightened my hold, my wolf rumbling with satisfaction.
Vanessa was still standing there, her face pale with shock.
"You should leave," I said coldly. "Now."
She looked like she wanted to argue, but one look at my expression made her think better of it.
She left without another word.
Good.
The moment she was gone, I turned Aria around, cupping her face in my hands.
"Did you mean it?" I asked, needing to hear it again. "Everything you said?"
She nodded, her green eyes shining. "Every word."
Fuck.
"Good," I growled, pulling her closer. "Because you’re mine, Aria. And I’m never letting you go."
Her breath hitched, and I could see the heat flaring in her gaze.
"I know we need to wait," I continued, brushing my thumb over her bottom lip. "But it’s taking everything in me not to complete the bond right now."
"Damian..." Her voice was shaky, her pupils dilating.
I nodded. "Aria. I’m not wasting another second pretending otherwise. We’ll make it official soon."
She stared at me," What do you mean?"

Aria’s POV
Even after we left V&A Group, my mind was still reeling from Damian’s words.
"We’ll make it official soon."
Soon.
Did he mean...?
I glanced at the clock on the dashboard. It was almost five. The courthouse closed at five-thirty.
There was no way we’d make it in time.
Right?
"Damian," I said hesitantly. "What did you mean by ’soon’?"
He glanced at me, a slow smile curving his lips. "Exactly what it sounds like."
My heart skipped. "You can’t be serious."
"Why not?"
"Because—because we can’t just—" I sputtered, my face heating. "The courthouse closes in half an hour!"
"Then we’d better hurry."
My jaw dropped. "You’re actually serious."
"Dead serious." He reached over, lacing his fingers through mine. "Unless you want to wait?"
I stared at him, my heart pounding.
This was insane.
Reckless.
Completely impulsive.
But when I looked into his eyes—dark, intense, full of promise—I realized I didn’t want to wait.
Not even a little.
Still, reality check.
"Shouldn’t we at least tell Alpha Andrew and Luna Elena?" My voice came out smaller than I intended.
My mind was racing even as part of me wanted to just say yes and damn the consequences. "And isn’t this... I mean, it’s really sudden..."
I was torn. Half of me wanted to throw caution to the wind. The other half was screaming that this was crazy, that we should slow down, think this through.
Damian’s expression shifted slightly. His jaw tightened, and when he spoke, his voice was lower, rougher.
"Today is actually a special day for me. I was planning to take you to dinner tonight, but after hearing what you said to Vanessa..."
He paused, and I saw his throat work as he swallowed. "I want to make you mine. Officially. Right now."
Something in his tone made my chest tighten. There was vulnerability there, hidden beneath that commanding exterior.
"But if you think it’s too fast," he continued, glancing at me briefly before focusing back on the road, "if you’re not ready, just say the word. I’ll wait. We can forget I even suggested it."
Before I could respond, my phone rang.
Luna Elena.
I glanced at Damian, then answered. "Hello?"
"Aria, sweetheart." Her warm voice filled my ear. "Are you busy right now?"
I hesitated, unsure how to answer. "Um, well—"
"I’ll get straight to the point then." She paused, and I could almost see her gentle smile. "Today is Damian’s birthday."
My eyes widened, and I immediately looked at him. He kept his gaze fixed on the road, but I saw the tension in his shoulders.
His birthday. He hadn’t said a word.
"It’s nothing major," Elena continued softly. "But... that boy has never liked his birthday. He’s carried this guilt since he was born—the delivery complications left me in a coma for years. "
"I was a vegetable. Years of my life... gone. And he’s blamed himself ever since." Her voice grew quieter, more fragile.
"He never celebrates. Never lets anyone make a fuss. When I finally woke up, he was already this closed-off teenager who flinched whenever anyone mentioned his birthday."
She took a shaky breath. "Grace and I were hoping... if you’re not too busy... maybe you could spend some time with him today? He needs someone who cares about him, not someone who reminds him of what he cost our family."
My heart clenched painfully.
Suddenly everything clicked into place. That word he’d used—"indulgent." This wasn’t just about wanting to marry me quickly.
This was about taking a day he’d always hated, a day shadowed by guilt and pain, and turning it into something good. Something worth remembering.
"Luna Elena," I said quietly, my eyes never leaving Damian’s face. "Don’t worry. I understand. I’ll make sure he has a good day."
"Thank you, dear." The relief in her voice was palpable. "He’s lucky to have you."
We said goodbye, and I slowly lowered the phone.
Damian’s hands had tightened on the steering wheel. He still wasn’t looking at me.
If a day filled with guilt and self-blame could become a day of happiness instead... how could I say no to that?
How could I deny him this one thing he was asking for?
