Chapter 113: Chapter 113 The DNA paternity test report

Author’s POV

That afternoon, Rose had barely stepped through the threshold of the Holt estate, supported by Margaret’s steady arm, when the butler came rushing toward them.

His face was ashen, his usual composure completely shattered.

"Luna Rose, Luna Margaret..." His voice cracked. "A fax just came through. An urgent one."

Margaret was already in a foul mood from the day’s events. She snapped at him without looking up. "It’s just a fax. Why are you acting like the pack’s under attack? Take it to the study."

"That’s not—the contents of this fax..." The butler’s eyes darted nervously to Rose, uncertainty flickering across his features. He clearly wasn’t sure if he should continue.

Rose’s sharp gaze cut to him like a blade. "There are no outsiders here. Speak."

The butler swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

"The fax concerns young Alpha Marcus, Luna. It’s a DNA paternity test report. The sender’s information is scrambled—we have no way of identifying who sent it."

The color drained from both women’s faces simultaneously.

"What test report?!" Margaret lunged forward and ripped the envelope from his hands, her fingers tearing at the seal with desperate urgency.

Rose gripped her cane so tightly her knuckles went white, her eyes locked on those papers as they emerged from the envelope.

When the names on the report became visible, both women stood frozen, as if they’d misread what was printed in black and white.

Rose snatched the papers from Margaret’s trembling hands. The shock hit her like a physical blow—her breath caught, her chest constricted.

Margaret immediately grabbed her mother-in-law’s arm. "Mom! Don’t—breathe! Deep breaths, please!"

The report slipped from Rose’s fingers and fluttered to the floor. The butler scrambled to retrieve it.

The words stared up at them, cold and merciless:

"Conclusion: Based on available data and DNA analysis, Ethan Holt is confirmed to be the biological father of Marcus Holt."

Rose sank onto the sofa, her breathing labored. Margaret frantically called for their private physician, though her own hands were shaking violently.

After several agonizing moments, Rose’s breathing finally steadied. When she spoke, her voice was like ice.

"This information cannot leave these walls. If word gets out to the other packs, Silver Creek’s reputation will be destroyed."

They had no idea who had sent this damning evidence or what their endgame was. But right now, their immediate priority was dealing with Clara and Marcus—before this became a pack-wide scandal.

Family shame stayed within family walls. And it certainly didn’t threaten the pack’s standing or the company’s future.

---

That evening, Ethan received an urgent call summoning him back to the estate.

He’d assumed something had happened to his grandmother’s health. Instead, when he arrived, he found both Rose and Margaret seated in the formal receiving room like judges awaiting a criminal. Their expressions were carved from stone.

"What’s going on? Grandmother, Mom—has something happened?"

Ethan sensed the oppressive atmosphere immediately. His voice carried a note of apprehension.

Before he’d finished speaking, Margaret’s cold gaze shifted to him. She gestured toward the coffee table where the fax report lay like an accusation.

"This..." Ethan’s face went pale. His eyes snapped up to meet his mother’s. "Mom, who sent you this?"

"Anonymous," Margaret said icily. Rose remained motionless in her seat, staring straight ahead, saying nothing.

Somehow, her silence was more terrifying than any words could be.

"You need to end things with Clara."

The command hung in the air like a death sentence.

"That’s not necessary, is it? Maybe this is just some business rival trying to create conflict within our family—"

"The only people who know about you and Clara are in this house," Margaret cut him off with a bitter laugh.

"Even your marriage to Aria was kept private—hardly anyone outside knows. If we had business rivals, they’d be broadcasting your dirty secrets to every pack in the region, not playing these petty games with anonymous faxes."

Ethan tried to argue, but his mother’s logic was ironclad.

"Mom, but there’s no reason Clara has to leave—"

"And what about Silver Creek Pack’s reputation?!"

Rose’s voice cracked like a whip. She raised one trembling hand, silencing Margaret before she could unleash a torrent of accusations at her son.

"Ethan." Rose’s tone was eerily calm now. "I’m giving you one week to handle that woman. And you will deliver a message to her for me."

She paused, letting the weight of her authority settle over him.

"Tell her to leave the country immediately. From this moment forward, she is never to set foot in this city again."

Rose’s cloudy eyes glinted with ruthless finality. "If she refuses... she should prepare herself to never see her son again. Not in this lifetime."

The threat landed like a physical blow. Ethan’s eyes widened as realization dawned. "You took Marcus?"

He immediately reached for his phone to call home, but Margaret’s sharp voice stopped him cold.

"Don’t bother calling. The child is safe—for now. As long as Clara leaves quietly, I’ll arrange for Marcus to be reunited with her in a year."

Margaret’s expression was carved from ice. "But if she insists on clinging to you, if she continues this pathetic charade... then she and her entire family better prepare themselves for a lifetime war with the Holt family."

"Grandmother, I swear I won’t see Clara again!"

Ethan could see there was no room for negotiation. His voice came out strangled, desperate.

"Ethan." Rose gripped the armrest of the sofa, forcing herself to take a steadying breath.

"This situation has gone beyond anything I’m willing to tolerate. I will not have that woman in my sight. I will not allow the Holt family name to be dragged through the mud by someone so calculating."

Her gaze was distant, as if she were already severing him from her consideration. "How you handle this is your decision. But understand the consequences."

With that, Rose rose from her seat. The attending staff member immediately moved to support her.

She walked away without sparing Ethan another glance, leaving him standing alone in the cavernous room with his mother’s judgmental stare burning into him.

He understood then: his family’s love came with conditions. And he’d just violated the most sacred one.
