Chapter 1295: The Spear Mage Borhlu
Souta continued surveying the chamber, a hint of interest appearing in his eyes.
He had already confirmed that the Forbidden Spells Armante had used were not of his own creation. Instead, Armante had learned them from ancient spellbooks.
An inheritance left behind by a mage capable of creating Forbidden Spells.
Souta was no ignorant mage.
He understood better than most how difficult it was to create a Forbidden Spell.
The foundation of every Forbidden Spell lay in the countless Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Spells that came before it.
Although Souta had mastered a vast number of spells, even he was still incapable of creating a Forbidden Spell from scratch.
"So the President discovered these spellbooks and learned from these books..."
"These books weren’t written by him."
Souta turned his attention to a stack of notes resting on a nearby table.
He walked over, picked them up, and began reading.
"As expected..."
The contents surprised even him.
"The Spear Mage... the God of Gold, Borhlu."
According to the records, the creator of these spells was a God-rank entity known as Borhlu.
Judging from the notes, Borhlu had lived more than ten thousand years ago.
He was also the one who had carved out this land, creating the Depths of Banquet.
"It seems conquering this land wasn’t in vain."
Souta smiled faintly.
"At the very least, I gained something far more valuable than I expected."
The President of the Republic, Armante, had been overly confident in his own strength.
The security around this place was lacking. At most, it could detect someone at the Seventh Shackle Realm. There was barely anything capable of stopping an Eighth Shackle Realm expert.
Of course, Armante himself was a Ninth Shackle Realm expert, so he had every reason to be confident in his strength. Moreover, he had Urhan, the Supreme Commander of the Republic’s Army, supporting him from the sidelines.
The two of them were so powerful that even Aldemaran and Sea Devourer had never considered overthrowing them.
Armante and Urhan had discovered the legacy of a God of Gold.
It was the source of their power and the foundation of their confidence.
Souta continued reading the notes with great interest.
The God of Gold, Borhlu, was a name Souta had never heard before.
Naturally, he was curious about what kind of God Borhlu had been.
According to the records, Borhlu had fallen long ago.
He had been severely injured by the Commandment of Love.
His entire existence had begun to crumble, and there was nothing he could do to repair himself. Knowing that his end was inevitable, Borhlu had left behind a portion of his knowledge within the Depths of Banquet.
What shocked Souta was that Borhlu possessed information about the Commandment of Love and the Commandment of Patience.
As soon as he read the words, Souta’s eyes widened in surprise.
"The Commandment of Love and the Commandment of Patience...?!!"
Any information regarding the Commandments was an incredibly serious matter.
Souta continued reading.
According to Borhlu’s records, the God of Gold had discovered a terrifying truth.
He had investigated the distant past and uncovered the destruction of previous eras, which he referred to as Cycles.
Each Cycle gave birth to numerous God-rank entities. Yet, by the end of every Cycle, almost all of those entities would perish.
The Commandments prevent any information about the previous Cycles from leaking into the current one. He didn’t know why but there seemed to be a larger secret behind it.
That was why they had targeted the God of Gold, Borhlu.
He had been struck down by the Commandment of Love, but he managed to escape at the last possible moment.
Unfortunately, he had suffered severe injuries, and his entire existence was slowly crumbling apart.
Borhlu had also recorded the identity of the Commandment of Love.
His name was Julius Reanhar.
Although Julius appeared to be human, Borhlu claimed that his true nature was that of an elemental being.
Borhlu had witnessed it personally.
He had seen Julius’s true form and barely managed to escape from that terrifying entity.
"An elemental being..."
Souta’s eyes widened.
"Wait... a dual-elemental being!"
He suddenly realized something.
"Light and Fire?!"
Souta knew about elemental beings.
These beings were born with a fixed elemental affinity. Even if they consumed a mana fruit capable of granting someone an additional elemental affinity, it would have no effect on them.
On the other hand, elemental beings possessed immense authority over their respective elements.
Even Souta had never known that the Commandment of Love was an elemental being.
Borhlu also wrote that any information regarding the Cycles should never be revealed carelessly, as doing so could attract the attention of the Commandments of the God’s Will.
As for the Commandment of Patience, Borhlu had discovered that she was an entity from countless Cycles ago who had somehow managed to survive.
As for how she had managed to survived, Borhlu had no idea.
All he knew was that Patience was on the verge of death.
Her body was crumbling apart, yet death seemed to have no effect on her.
It was as if she had rejected death itself.
Even though her body was slowly disintegrating, she still refused to die.
Borhlu then narrated his encounter with Patience.
He had encountered her on an isolated island and was terrified when he discovered her existence.
However, Patience had simply remained where she was.
She didn’t attack him.
She didn’t even make a move.
She only told him to leave.
That was all.
It was as if she was waiting for something...
Or someone.
Souta exhaled deeply as he absorbed all the information contained in the notes.
He never expected that he would uncover information about two Commandments here in the Depths of Banquet.
"It’s troublesome..."
Souta closed his eyes and recalled everything he knew about the two Commandments mentioned in the notes.
From his memories, the Commandment of Patience would eventually rampage across the Giza Continent, while the Commandment of Love would launch occasional attacks until the all-out battle in the Ruin Desolate Land against the faction of the Ancient Myriad Emperor.
The Ruin Desolate Land...
And the Giza Continent.
Souta rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
According to his plans, he would soon travel to the Mars Archipelago.
He was already making preparations, and it wouldn’t be long before everything was ready.
Souta shook his head and slipped the notes into his pocket.
He couldn’t allow the information contained within them to leak.
Judging from everything he had seen, it seemed that even Armante and Urhan had never revealed the contents of these notes to anyone.
The Commandments are preventing anyone from learning about the Cycles.
Souta narrowed his eyes.
’No...’
’It’s more accurate to say that they’re preventing anyone from learning about what happened during those Cycles.’
The same thing happened during the Walpurgis Night.
Souta turned his head.
’It seems that I need to visit the Land of Fire Light.’
...
After settling everything in the Creasant Republic, Souta quickly made his way to the Land of Fire Light.
The Creasant Republic was no more. Its territory had been divided between the Tarrant Nation and the Bodam Kingdom, allowing both nations to expand farther than ever before.
Together, they now occupied the entirety of the Depths of Banquet.
Soon, Souta arrived in the Land of Fire Light.
He flew across the sky, passing over the Everlasting Kingdom before descending toward the former site of the royal palace.
Thud!
Souta stepped onto the rubble and slowly scanned his surroundings.
The entire royal capital lay in ruins.
There wasn’t a single sign of life.
Collapsed buildings were scattered everywhere, while the bones of the dead littered the ground. Some were partially buried beneath the rubble, their remains forgotten amidst the destruction.
Tasman hadn’t reclaimed this land yet.
Well, even if he had, the current Everlasting Kingdom didn’t have enough people to expand into the territory.
The survivors were living in only a small portion of the Land of Fire Light.
There simply weren’t enough people left to occupy the rest.
Souta pointed his finger downward and blasted the ground.
BOOM!!
A massive hole appeared before him.
He narrowed his eyes before jumping inside, landing deep within the cavern.
The moisture in the air and the eerie atmosphere were unlike anything he had ever experienced.
Mold clung to the walls, while the darkness completely swallowed the light.
"This is where Saya fought the calamity," Souta muttered.
He advanced swiftly, carefully observing his surroundings.
Traces of battle were everywhere.
From the countless scars left behind, Souta could almost visualize the intensity of the battle that had taken place here.
The calamity was dangerous.
No one could afford to take it lightly.
Everyone in the Everlasting Kingdom was still alive because of Saya.
If she hadn’t done what she did, the entire Land of Fire Light would have been erased.
Swoosh!!
Soon, Souta arrived in an enormous chamber.
At the very bottom stood a massive, rust-covered door.
It towered nearly fifty meters high.
"This...?"
The moment Souta laid eyes on it, he couldn’t help but shudder.
