Chapter 370: Chapter 368: Entering the Land of Sleep

Is this really just a Tier Three demon? Even Tier Four ones aren’t this tough!

It wasn’t just Goriff—even Pamisha was shocked.

They both looked at Hilia at the same time.

Hilia was totally baffled.

Why are you looking at me?

Pamisha asked, "Miss Xiluo, what’s going on here?"

Hilia was silent for a moment (meaning she was praying for an oracle from the Gods).

"These are demons who have been... affected by the ruins’ aurora for a long time within the dream. Inside the aurora, they are strengthened to the point of being virtually indestructible. Of course, it’s not that they really have such high defense, it’s just that the aurora has blurred the boundary between dreams and reality."

"In other words, we’re essentially fighting it inside a dream—its dream. Our weapons naturally can’t hurt it."

Pamisha said, "Then doesn’t that mean we can’t kill it?"

Hilia replied, "We can. We just need to neutralize its dream or transform it into a nightmare—make it face what it’s most afraid of. Then the dream will be broken."

"What it’s most afraid of..."

While the others were still thinking, Anthony already sprang into action. He activated the Memory Recorder’s projection function, and as the seal charged at them, he projected the image of a polar bear right in front of it.

The seal instantly looked as if it had seen a ghost—utterly panicked. The dazzling aurora swirling around it flickered wildly.

Seeing this, Goriff immediately commanded his magic puppet to attack again.

This time, nothing unexpected happened—the greatsword sliced right through the seal as easily as cutting vegetables.

Feeling the totally different sensation, Goriff was dumbfounded. "Damn, this kind of magic actually exists."

Hilia smiled lightly, but didn’t say anything.

Rose had already told her about the traits of dream magic. The biggest trait of this school was creating an area where the line between reality and dreams became blurred, dragging the target into one’s own dream. Inside that dream, you could shape yourself as an invincible being.

This sort of power seemed terrifying, but it also obeyed the iron law that "nothing can be truly flawless"—there’s always a fatal weakness.

Just like this seal in front of them who clearly has Tier Three combat strength. Yet faced with its natural enemy, the polar bear, it was still completely panicked and had its dream broken.

After the seal was killed, Pamisha was about to say something when she suddenly saw the corpse slowly turn into specks of light that drifted toward the entrance of the ruins.

Where the lights floated by, a road like a rainbow paved with starlight materialized.

Pamisha’s heart leapt: "Could this be...the real way to enter the ruins?"

As she hesitated, she saw Hilia had already stepped onto the Starlight Avenue, heading for the entrance.

She quickly shouted, "Hey! Miss Xiluo, that ruin’s danger level hasn’t even been evaluated yet. Don’t just rush in!"

Hilia stopped, turned her head, and smiled: "I know, but if the vanguard team doesn’t explore first, how would anyone know how dangerous it is? It’s a great opportunity—let me be the vanguard this time! You all wait here a bit, I’ll be right back. If I don’t come back, don’t wait for me—just head home."

Saying that, Hilia prepared to move forward again.

Who knew her offhand remark would fire up Pamisha so much.

Pamisha’s spirit soared. "Miss Xiluo is absolutely right! If everyone is scared, who’s supposed to be the vanguard? No way I’m letting you go in alone—count me in your team!"

With that, she led her magic puppet onto the Starlight Avenue as well.

At the same time, she turned and told them, "Manica, Anthony, you two stay here and wait for me. Mr. Goriff, please look after them for a bit."

"Huh?" Goriff glanced left and right, saw Pamisha quickly following Hilia without looking back, and gritted his teeth:

"The honor of being in the vanguard team outshines regular explorers—just below the ones who clear the ruins themselves. Miss this chance, there won’t be another! Miss Pamisha, Miss Xiluo, count me in too! I don’t know much, but if you need me to fight, just say the word!"

With that, he rushed in with his magic puppet as well.

At this point, it was obvious weaklings like Manica and Anthony wouldn’t stay behind either.

They had no choice but to toughen up and tag along.

Manica shouted, "Miss, don’t leave me behind!"

Anthony removed the spell core from the Memory Recorder and stuffed it into his bag; everything else was tossed into the tent as he hurried after them.

Hearing the voices and footsteps catching up behind her, Hilia rubbed her forehead, regretting sounding so cool just now.

She said helplessly, "Miss Pamisha, you don’t have to come. This ruin is... very dangerous, and polluted too. There’s a high chance it’s already occupied by a sect. You probably don’t understand sects..."

"Sure I do—just last month, they almost wrecked the Mage League. If Miss Hilia hadn’t helped out, that tournament would’ve been canceled! Pity I didn’t have time to go watch; all I could do was read about it over the Star Spirit Network." Pamisha grinned.

Hilia: "..."

Rose chuckled lightly: "No need to worry too much. This is Alina’s Land of Slumber—knowing her, she wouldn’t set up any dangerous traps. She might not set any traps at all. If there are traps, they’d most likely be from the Polar Blood Alliance."

"It’s those Polar Blood Alliance traps that I’m worried about. As for me, it’s fine, but these folks..."

"Let’s just go in first."

"Alright then."

Seeing that all four of them had come, Hilia said, "Miss Pamisha, I might not be able to watch over you all in the ruins. For safety’s sake, you should probably stay outside and not come in."

Pamisha protested, "Miss Xiluo, I may not be your match, but I’m still a Tier Three mage. Don’t underestimate me."

She turned to Manica and Anthony: "What are you two here for?"

Anthony said with a wry smile, "Pamisha, we’re both barely Tier One. If you leave us out here, you’ll come back to find not even our bodies."

"Goriff..."

"Miss Pamisha, my job is to protect you. Wherever you go, I have to follow. Everyone else’s safety isn’t my responsibility," Goriff said.

Pamisha: "..."

Seeing they were all set on coming in, Hilia could only sigh, "Whatever, then. Just know—if there’s danger and I can’t ensure my own safety, you’ll have to fend for yourselves. A ten gold coin bounty isn’t enough for me to risk my life for you."

Pamisha waved her hand, "If we die, it just means it’s our time, don’t worry. Anthony may be useless, but he’s got his uses. Manica’s useless too, but she can at least carry stuff for us."

"Fine, then."

Without the Gods’ blessing, they couldn’t get close to Alina’s resting place anyway. Maybe the other places were Polar Blood Alliance outposts, but it didn’t matter much.

Hilia stopped caring about them, and following the Starlight Avenue, she approached the cave entrance and stepped into the ruins.
