Chapter 287: Chapter 285: Why Is Miss Hilia Happy?
In the days that followed, it was quite peaceful for Hilia and other saint candidates, each giving their all, hoping to be the first to ascend.
Hilia spent most of her time on the coursework Rose assigned her.
Unlike Benovia, she didn’t have an exceptional memory, but under the effect of magic, her progress was pretty good.
During these days, she paid slight attention to the situation in her class.
When Mier returned to school on the third day in a very poor mental state, the discussions among classmates turned private. Some sympathized, while others mocked, and some reveled in his misfortune.
His brother was killed, and his father gravely injured. Such events plunge anyone into despair.
If Mier were a bit older, or at least had reached Tier Three, he might not be so lost now... he might even crack a smile.
But now, as a noble in Huijin City, the downfall of the towering support pressures him so much he can’t laugh.
Especially with those illegitimate children of his father, starting to stir restlessly.
Hilia didn’t react much to this.
As Benovia said, kindness is reserved for good people. Being kind to evil is being cruel to the good.
Nosen deserved his fate, and his father nearly did too. Had he not been drained of magic power, he might have secretly killed her after punishing Benovia.
Now, if anyone tries to touch him, someone will dare to attack them.
Yet Hilia was still a bit worried about Anarce’s safety; Benovia saw her concern and assured her that Anarce’s caretaker is a Tier Three Mage, so there’s no need to worry, which put Hilia at ease.
Peace reigned until the second week, which was the final week before the deadline Rose set for Hilia, when Anarce was discharged and returned to school.
Originally, it wasn’t a big deal. After Anarce’s incident, the school granted her a sick leave. Though everyone didn’t know what happened, they knew she was ill.
As a student who hadn’t integrated into others’ circles, Anarce’s return didn’t cause a stir, at most a few friends surrounded her with questions.
Until Mier stopped Anarce and shouted excitedly in front of the entire class:
"Anarce, why didn’t you turn into an ordinary person? Tell me, how did you recover?"
For the first time seeing Mier not stopping Hilia but herself, Anarce was caught off guard, "What turning into an ordinary person, what recovering? Why should I turn into an ordinary person?"
After losing her divine power, Anarce fell into a coma, only waking up when Hilia healed her, restoring her magic power and soul. She just felt her magic was depleted and urgently needed meditation to recover, unaware that she had become an ordinary person during her coma.
So facing Mier’s question, she only felt perplexed.
Mier’s emotions were extremely agitated, thinking that if Anarce could recover, then couldn’t his father?
Hearing Anarce’s words, he couldn’t help but step forward, intending to grab her.
A magic staff barred his way in front of Anarce, and Hilia coldly said, "Mier, don’t lay hands on a girl."
"Hilia... I’m sorry, Hilia. I need to get what I want from Anarce, once she tells me, I’ll leave without bothering her."
Anarce frowned with disgust, "I don’t know what you want, but I know nothing. Asking me is useless. If you want to mess with me, I’m ready anytime."
After saying this, Anarce simply walked away.
It seemed after resolving the situation with Nosen, her personality grew colder.
There was a sense of indifference towards the world.
Hilia couldn’t help but recall the initial Anarce, a delicate girl gasping while running, also a bit timid.
Seeing Anarce leave, Hilia also departed.
But she knew Mier wouldn’t give up so easily.
"Luckily, I disguised myself back then, otherwise, who knows if things would have been exposed." Hilia was greatly relieved.
Sure enough, not long after, Mier stopped Anarce again while Hilia was away. If not for the timely intervention of the Law Enforcement Team, a deadly duel would have erupted—Anarce attacked fiercely each time while Mier, as a Tier Two Mage, retaliated furiously.
Then, both were brought to Alina’s office by the Law Enforcement Team, followed by a school-wide announcement.
Upon hearing the school announcement, Hilia found Anarce, "Anarce, calm down. It’s forbidden to fight in school; if you want to compete, you must go to the duel grounds."
"Nosen’s brother is evil too. He is lucky I didn’t kill him; I don’t want to talk to him."
Hilia said helplessly, "If you don’t want to talk to him, just ignore him, like I’ve always done."
Anarce was silent for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."
Hilia felt she probably hadn’t listened at all.
So during evening meditation, she found Benovia and told her about the situation.
Benovia laughed, "Tell Anarce to inform Mier that I brought someone. If he wants to know, let him come to me, provided he has the courage."
Hilia nodded and sighed, "Seems Benovia is more powerful than Mier’s family."
Benovia smiled slightly but said nothing.
Hilia wasn’t interested in others’ backgrounds; she sighed and no longer pursued it. Later, she conveyed Benovia’s message to Anarce, and Anarce replied with "Received."
But soon, Anarce sent another message: "Can you help introduce Miss Benovia to me?"
"Anarce wants to see you," Hilia said.
Benovia nodded, "Then let her come to the west-side park of the school, I’ll wait for her there, you come too."
Hilia hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."
The two left together, watched by Doris with gritted teeth, arriving at the small park located outside the Forbidden Forest, where most students rest and stroll, waiting for Anarce.
Soon, Anarce walked over and sat beside them.
Anarce looked at Benovia and directly asked, "Miss Benovia, I’d like to know the god who guided you to reclaim the Heart of the Magic Puppet... who was it? Can you tell me?"
Benovia smiled gently, "The god’s name, I don’t know either, Miss Anarce. But, you don’t need to pursue it. You may also have been chosen. Just fulfill your duties, maintain your true self, don’t court death, don’t provoke, and practice earnestly. The god will grant you revelations again. Just keep a devout heart and pray to the god every day."
Anarce fell into contemplation.
Knowing the circumstances, Hilia silently watched, thinking inwardly, "Lord Rose, you’ll have another devout follower soon."
Rose smiled faintly, "Perhaps devout, but the divine contract is too low, only three Jonathans worth, not suitable as a vessel for descent."
"I see."
Hilia’s heart... seemed to rejoice a little.
