"I heard Director Liu had some troubles, and since I’m investigating a case nearby, I came by to check." Shen Xinhao said with a smile.
"How is it? All sorted out? Who was it, anyway? Who would have such a death wish as to cause trouble at the emergency center? Is the problem serious?"
Officer Xu shook his head, "Not serious, it’s just one of their patients involved in domestic violence."
He answered, but he really couldn’t understand. Shen Xinhao is such a busy person, yet he rushed over here just upon hearing some gossip.
It couldn’t be Liu Banxia making the call, such a small matter doesn’t require the captain of the City Criminal Police Team to intervene.
This is beyond using a cannon to shoot a mosquito; they are worlds apart.
"There’s nothing much on my side here. Despite how terribly I might look, I really didn’t suffer a loss." Liu Banxia said seriously.
When Shen Xinhao got a good look at Liu Banxia, he was both amused and helpless.
Facing four fierce thugs, Liu Banxia didn’t look this bad. Now, against an ordinary person, his nose was even bleeding.
"I really didn’t suffer a loss, it’s no big deal." Liu Banxia reiterated weakly.
Unfortunately, his protest didn’t really have any effect, instead, Shen Xinhao looked him over more carefully.

"If I said it was my first time dislocating a shoulder joint, usually I’m attaching them, would you believe it?" Liu Banxia said helplessly.
"It seems we really shouldn’t provoke doctors; you never know what tricks they might use." Shen Xinhao remarked.
"Making it sound like I am..."
Before Liu Banxia could finish, his phone rang.
"Hold on, a call from our hospital, probably the director wanting to ask about the situation." Liu Banxia said before answering, "This is Liu Banxia."
"How’s the situation over there?" Zhou Shuwen’s voice came through the phone.
"Director, it’s not really connected to me, mostly need to sort out the domestic violence issue between these two patients." Liu Banxia hurriedly explained.
"Regarding this patient causing a scene with us, I’m not planning to pursue further. Let’s focus on major matters to avoid agitating him further. I’m fine, just a bit of nosebleed."
"That’s acceptable, if the hospital needs to step in, just call." Zhou Shuwen said.
"Director, it’s all good, Captain Shen from the municipal bureau is right here too, he came over. Can I take leave at noon? I’d like to accompany Liu Yiqing and Xu Yino to have a meal with Captain Shen." Liu Banxia asked directly.
Shen Xinhao didn’t know what to say, was he becoming the scapegoat?
"Sure, if you want to rest and have a drink this afternoon, that’s fine." Zhou Shuwen didn’t dwell on this issue, approving swiftly.
"Director, are you still in the operating room?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Yes, Wei Yuan is performing the operation, I just got some time to rest." Zhou Shuwen replied.
"I will report back in the afternoon, it’s just finding a small restaurant for a working meal." Liu Banxia said.
"Alright then, let’s leave it at that." Zhou Shuwen said before hanging up.
"Teacher Liu, you’re something else. It’s the first time I’ve heard someone ask for leave to eat with such candor, so proudly." Xu Yino gave a thumbs up.
Liu Yiqing also nodded in agreement, indeed Teacher Liu isn’t an ordinary person.
"Director isn’t like just anyone else, when there are issues, they should be clearly discussed face-to-face. Still in the operating room, took time to call us and show concern." Liu Banxia said.
"Officer Xu, if there’s nothing at noon, let’s eat together. Coming out to eat on a workday so openly is a first for me, feels rather fresh."
Officer Xu was amused too, in Director Liu’s mind, it seems there are truly no taboos.
"Alright, we need your help to find the suspect anyway," Shen Xinhao said.
Since he put it that way, the matter was settled. It wasn’t about the food, just a chance to connect.
"Hehe, it’s really exciting to think about, going out to a restaurant on a weekday, even if it’s just for a crepe," Xu Yino said happily.
"Then I might as well order you takeout, with an extra egg?" Liu Banxia said.
"No way, I want something delicious, I’m a victim too, after all, I got pushed down," Xu Yino said.
"Alright, you both need to give me a brief on your situation," Officer Xu waved them over.
It was understood that Shen Xinhao was definitely here for something with Liu Banxia. So they gave them time and took the two girls aside temporarily.
These two girls, although usually a bit mischievous, knew how to prioritize, and they were quite curious about the police station.
"I really got scared when I first got the news, but now I’m relieved," Shen Xinhao said.

"But maybe I overthought it. You’re a doctor, and a pretty good one at that. You’re definitely better at this than me. How about some spicy boiled fish for lunch? I know a small place that’s not expensive and quite authentic."
"Haha, I’ll go with the host’s choice. It’s just that I can’t drink, otherwise, I’d definitely have a round," Liu Banxia said.
"Don’t laugh at me, but during those days, I was really frightened. Only at home did I feel some peace of mind."
"Let’s talk about my patient. She’s had a miserable life, often beaten by her husband. Can she smoothly get a divorce this way? If her family harasses her, can you help stand up for her?"
"Injuries very severe? A repeat offender?" Shen Xinhao asked.
Liu Banxia nodded, "There are several fractures on her arm and countless bruises on her body. Even today, with so many of us watching, her husband gave her a hard kick."
"I’m not worried about much else, just afraid of her husband’s family harassing her. She’s already suffered so much; even divorced, she shouldn’t suffer a financial loss."
"This is actually quite tricky. Honestly, in my view, getting a smooth divorce with some reasonable division of property would be best," Shen Xinhao said.
"Divorces are inherently complex, especially for your patient. Ending it sooner means relief sooner. Dragging it out invites more unforeseen issues."
"It’s not always about penny-pinching. She’s suffered a lot already, cutting losses promptly is crucial. Otherwise, things might spiral further, leading to setbacks."
"Some matters need a quick and decisive action. Otherwise, who knows when things will escalate into a tragedy. Our current case is quite similar; it’s a relationship dispute that escalated to violence."
Liu Banxia nodded, that’s exactly it.
This woman has carried on without divorcing all these years, surely due to other difficult reasons. Hopefully, she can resolve this decisively this time, living freely and enjoying life in the future.
In one’s life, sometimes you just can’t worry too much.
"By the way, when you have time, check on the young guys in our team. Sometimes they get bumps capturing suspects," Shen Xinhao said.
"That’s no problem at all. Just come find me when you’re free, if I’m not in surgery," Liu Banxia said casually.
"Your work is quite dangerous; you really need to take care. While we are busy, we’re not usually in immediate danger."
"Like today’s incident, if we weren’t minding other people’s business, it wouldn’t have been our concern, and we’d still be attending to patients."
