Chapter 209: Karma pt 2

>>Aelin

"What?" Raya was disgusted by what she heard.

She stared at Reagen and then at Killian, "Are you joking?"

"I’m sure your sight works just fine Raya," Killian and Raya never got along, "Everyone else recognized him, why can’t you?"

Raya felt embarrassed by the remark, "Shut up! How dare you say anything like that! And Who gave you the authority to sit on that throne!"

"Does your tiny little brain not work Raya? I told you father abdicated the throne."

"So? Why do you get the throne?"

"Well, you certainly won’t get it." He smirked, "Who else but me?"

She balled her fists, "Reagen is the rightful heir!"

"Is he?" He pointed at Reagen, "You really think Reagan can do something in his state?" Raya’s anger flared up

"Daddy didn’t say anything about giving the throne to you!" She said

"He said it in front of people that run the country," Killain said and pointed at the court, "He doesn’t need to say important things in front of you."

"Where’s the proof!" She demanded

"The people standing around you are the proof," He said, "Do you want to challenge them, Raya?" His tone was filled with mockery, "Cleary, you aren’t that stupid."

!!!

Raya’s face got further red, "You!" She looked around the court. But with no idea what to do, she looked at me, "Why are you here?!"

"..." I stared at her face. It reminded me of my life and how much she aided Reagen in making me miserable, "I’m here for official work," I said and then looked at Reagen, "But I also have a proposal."

Killian raised his brows at me, "A proposal?"

"Yes," I smiled, "For Raya," I looked at her, "Since she still hasn’t gotten married, I have the perfect person for her."

"Shut up!" Raya said, "You have no right to speak for me."

I ignored her and looked back at Killian.

"Sure," He said, "Who do you have in mind?"

"We should strengthen the relationship between two countries, humans and demons should live together in harmony. I believe marrying Raya to a demon lord would be a wise decision."

The look on Raya’s face was immaculate.

"What!?!??!" She screamed, "NO WAY!!!" She stomped her way towards me, "Keep your filthy mouth shut-" She raised her hand to try and assault me, she was so used to it, she didn’t even think about how she was going to do it in public.

But as she came to me and raised her hand to strike me, I held it.

Tight

"Behave yourself, Raya," I said in a harsh tone.

That caught her off guard. After all, she could never have thought that I’d be able to stand up for myself.

"W-what?" I pushed her hand back

"Alright," Killian said, making Raya shoot her head at him, "Who’s the groom you have in mind?"

"What!?!?" Raya looked at Killian, "You can’t be thinking of actually marrying me to a demon!!?"

Killian ignored her, so did I

"The Duke of the North," I said

"North?" Killain asked

"Yes," Draegon said, catching onto what I was doing even though I decided to have Raya married on a whim, "Duke Galak is an ice serpent."

"A what?!" Raya looked at us in horror.

That’s right. Raya has an irreversible phobia of snakes

"Duke Galak is old and lonely, his wife already passed away a long time ago and his heirs are growing up just fine. He needs a new wife." Draeagon looked at Raya, "The Princess would be a lovely companion."

If concubines and cheating is something looked down upon amongst the demons, finding another love after the death of one is encouraged.

"NO!!" Raya yelled, "No way in hell!!!" Raya grew up in a lovely sunny place, thinking she’ll marry a man from fairy tales. So being married off to an old man, in a place that rarely sees the sun should be a good punishment for her.

Let’s not forget Duke Gakan has an illness that doesn’t allow him to shift into his humanoid form

"Hmmm," Killian thought about it, "It is a good idea to strengthen our peace treaty even more."

"Killian!" Raya looked at him in horror, "Please, don’t," She got on her knees.

But Killian smirked, "Let’s finalize it."

"It’s an honor," Draegon and I both agreed, finalizing the deal.

The abyss worshippers, the cults, the lost causes were hunted very strictly and brought to justice. I took care of all the lost causes that were found and will do so in the future too if we ever stumbled upon someone we missed.

I heard Raya tried to run away from the marriage but Killain used some binding spell on her so that she couldn’t do so again and she was married off quietly.

Duke Gakan was quite pleased with his new young wife. Although the same can’t be said about his wife. No one heard her scream though, so everyone assumed they’re fine.

But I secretly heard that she had a spell put on her which doesn’t allow her to scream, and a few other spells were put in place by the one of the strongest mages that also don’t allow her to speak harshly.

Her internal turmoil will never get out.

King Orin tried to take the throne back, but I heard he got another stroke and was sent to the hospital once again. The court determined Orin needed to rest now and Killian went through his ascension ceremony.

I think Killian had something to do with King Orin’s Strokes but I don’t care.

Killian was a good king to his people and that’s what mattered.

Reagan, who was incapable of doing anything, was put in the far corner of the palace and was looked after by some servants.

I guess Karma works one way or another, and one day justice comes to find you.

You just need to stand up for yourself and keep going.

I took a deep breath as I stood on the roof, the scroll in my hand as I read the spell written on it

"Are you ready?" Draegon asked and I turned to look at him.

It was a nice sunny day, but still windy and pleasant.

"Yes,"

Ari and Drakkar stood by each other.

So did Draken and Vesper.

Draegon came forward and took the scroll from me, but didn’t step back. There was a look of worry on his face.

I gently touched his cheek, and smiled, "I’ll be alright." I told him.

"I know," He placed his hand over mine

I touched the pendant around my neck, the one he had given me when we got married. The very symbol of his love for me, "I’ll be back soon." I then stepped back as the gentle wind rustled my locks, slipping my hand away from him

I kept my eyes on him

The smile on my lips never leaving

Soft clouds covered the sun and I looked up, then closed my eyes.

With a deep breath I summoned all of my magic in me

By the light that strikes the first dawn,

By the flame that burns ’til all is gone,

By the stone that sleeps beneath the sea,

I bind the Abyss, to never be.

I spread out my palms and opened my eyes while I still looked up

By the blood that marks the living soul,

By the name that fate has written whole,

By the breath of sky, by the root of earth,

I seal the rift, deny its birth.

My eyes glowed, so did my hands

Gates of shadow, close and bind,

Nevermore in mortal mind,

By my will, by my breath, by my heart’s last call,

The Abyss is gone , foreverfall!"

Bright golden began to engulf me as I was lifted up into the sky.

I knew all the gazes were on me as I kept going higher and higher.

I felt the power in me surge, it started going rampant as I completed the spell and picked up speed.

From the core of my chest I felt a golden ball of light come out. It then began to expand with lightning speed, making everyone cover their eyes in response.
