Chapter 258: I was not with you that night
’’You... What do you want? I was abroad.. You know... I don’t know why they brought me here like this,’’ the woman tilted her chin arrogantly.
’’Mm. I asked them to.’’
’’I can sue you,’’ the woman scoffed, ’’Do you think it is legal for you to abduct someone like this? You don’t seem like an ordinary person but I can’t understand what games you are playing here. Are you too much into me? But let me tell you that I have a boyfriend. So even if you have a thing for me, you cannot just bring me here like this and lock me up...’’
The more the woman spoke, the further she seemed to be convinced by her own analogy. If these people had any intentions to harm her then they would not treat her so well. They were keeping her in this luxurious suite, feeding her good food and treating her so well...
Her face seemed smug the more she thought about it.
’’It is not as complicated. You answer me and I will let you go. That’s all it takes,’’ Ryle said calmly, surprising himself in the process.
Usually, he lacked such patience with such nonsense but today somehow, he was in a good mood. Even as the woman blabbered absolute crap that would get her killed in a matter of few seconds on usual days, it all seemed like some negligible sounds of insects chirping in the background to Ryle’s ears.
His mind was already floating somewhere around what a certain pair of mother-daughter duo must be up to. Considering the time, Angel must be still fast asleep. On the other hand, while Daisy was tired, she should be up, going about her daily routines sharp on time. Professional, she was.
He could not help but dream of her lush curves as she had laid pliant in his arms last night and how soft she had been when he had quietly taken her on the couch. She had been biting his neck all that while to stop herself from making noises but her body had moved and swayed with every thrust as if she could not wait to take him deeper.
Fuck, when he was putting her to the bed, he had been reluctant to leave. So reluctant. All he wished for was that he could sneak into the bed, hold her in his arms while she slept and wake her up with an orgasm that she could feel between her legs for the rest of her day no matter where she was or what she did.
The woman who sat opposite to Ryle watched as he looked at her with a dreamy smile on her face and her mouth went dry at how handsome the man was and how perfect he looked, ’’You... Are you in love with me or something?"
Ryle snapped out of his daze when the unpleasant sound shattered his reverie. He spared the woman a momentary gaze before he reached out into the pocket of his suit jacket.
’Clang’
The woman’s face turned pale when Ryle placed a pistol on the table, the shiny metal grazing the cold surface as he twirled it lazily.
’’You... You... You... What do you want?" The woman pushed her chair back and it fell onto the floor with a screech as she stood up.
’’Just a few answers. Sit still and tell me what I want to know,’’ Ryle said, his gaze stuck on the pistol while his mind roamed somewhere around the soft curves, long black hair, dark eyes and an icy face.
The woman gulped but when his fingers paused amidst twirling the pistol, she hurriedly grabbed the chair up and took a seat, her legs shaking as a layer of cold sweat covered her forehead.
’’You recognized me when I entered the room.’’
The woman bit her bottom lips, ’’I have met you in a nightclub back in the States some time ago. It has been... over a year.’’
’’And you remember me well enough to recognize me at the first glance?"
’’I... swear I am a nobody. The only reason I recognized you right away was because... I.. that night you were the center of attraction. Moreover, with a face like yours... one would not forget you once they saw you. There were many women throwing themselves at you but somehow you ended up with me and my friends...’’
’’Enough,’’ Ryle tapped his fingers on the desk impatiently, wondering where he hit his head to have the nerve to be such a jerk in the past.
To think that his princess was right there, albeit disguised as Dexter. Was she upset when she saw him hanging out with so many women?
Ryle knew he was just being delusional. Or probably not.
Nevertheless, Ryle convinced himself that the sight of him with other women must have bothered her to some extent. He made a mental note to assure her more in the future.
’Delusional bastard,’ a devil sat on his left shoulder, horns pointed at his neck.
’What do you know? He is just being practical. Who knows if that incident has left a bad shadow of him in Daisy’s heart,’ the angel sitting on the right shoulder argued.
Ryle nodded, completely agreeing with the second thought.
"There was a man with me that night,’’ Ryle looked at the woman sitting opposite to him, ’’Do you have any recollection of him?"
’’Yes, I... that blonde man. I tried to hit on him but...’’
’’You tried... what?" Ryle’s eyes narrowed.
’’He was my type...’’ the woman stuttered, ’’...but he was too cold and intimidating so I did not push it.’’
’’Tell me if you encountered anything strange that night. You were with me the whole night and I had left early. Anything strange that you saw later?"
The woman paused, her expressions slowly turning strange, ’’You... have you misunderstood something?"
Ryle’s brows tugged together.
She hesitated for a moment before speaking, ’’I was not with you that night. I think you were with my friends.’’
Ryle’s heart ceased beating.
