Chapter 234: Pitiful Chen family elders

Daisy fell momentarily silent when she heard his question.

’’Maybe because our family has always been different,’’ she admitted the fact that she neglected over the years or perhaps she never paid attention to that.

’’In the Si Family, there was always rivalry between Si Yena and her brother. The Qin Family has its own politics.

Logan’s father was initially the Master of the family but nobody knows why he was disowned and Maxim’s father had to take over the position of the family head. Maxim and Logan were recently acknowledged and brought into the family while their brother, Alex has been a carefree heir these years.

Lu Family has three sons and although it doesn’t show up on surface but they have a strong rivalry too, especially Lu Xian and the third young master...’’ Daisy paused when she felt Ryle’s grip tightening on her hand.

Thinking that he was probably confused by so many names, she further explained, ’’The third young master Lu is the same one I had an engagement with...’’

Before she could finish speaking, the man’s hand left her wrist and his thumb pressed on her lips, ’’Don’t get so comfortable taking their names and stating their relations with you,’’ his finger rubbed her bottom lips slowly, ’’Who knows your careless words might bring them harm?"

Ryle stiffened in the dark when he felt the woman’s teeth pressing down on his thumb as she bit it.

It was too gentle and soft as if she was being careful so as to not hurt him.

Ryle’s heart tickled.

Ah... If he... If he perhaps stroked her lips a few times more, will she keep biting him like this?

Before he could pursue his thoughts and act on them, Daisy nudged his hand away from her mouth as she spoke in a soft voice, ’’I thought you might not be familiar with them so I was trying to explain better.’’

Ryle paused. So, she put so much effort in describing those scoundrels just so he could understand better?

He felt weirdly comforted by that and not annoying her further, he held her hand in a gentle grip, nuzzling her fingers with his thumb.

’Thump’

Daisy’s face felt warm slightly.

’’What about your family?" Daisy heard Ryle ask in the darkness, ’’You talked about all of the three great families, what about yours?"

’’It’s because we did not have many internal conflicts going on over the inheritance. My grandfather trained my father as his heir. And Diana and I were taught by both of them. To outsiders, I was the legitimate heiress but everyone in the family knew that it depended on who was more capable and more inclined towards business in the future.’’

Ryle could more or less guess things from there, ’’Ironically, both of you were not interested in family business.’’

Daisy did not deny it. As they grew up, Diana was more interested in family and she was interested in her own business. Both of them were uninterested in family business.

’’The more we were like this, the more our family tried to get us involved in the business matters to wake our passion for it.’’

Ryle held back his laughter, afraid of waking Angel up and offending Daisy at the same time.

In other families, the heirs and heiress were fighting to inherit the family business and take over significant roles but in the Chen Family, both their legitimate heiresses were running away from their responsibilities.

In that way, the members of the Chen family were rather pitiful as they had to convince their heiresses like—’Please accept this position. We have no one else to go to.’

And both the heiresses did not bat an eye before they ran away from Beijing.

’’So, naturally, they tried anything and everything, from family secrets to important business deals to get our attention.’’

Daisy never gave much thought about it. When she was young, she found it annoying.

Even when her grandfather passed away and their father continued to attempt to stir their interest in business, she had frowned upon it.

But now that they were all adults where Diana and her were in such a comfortable bond, she felt like that the kind of upbringing they had also played a part in this.

Perhaps, the elders knew what they were doing in this aspect.

’’Makes sense,’’ As Ryle contemplated over it, it was indeed a fact that Chen Family was rather peaceful compared to the other three families who were all set to bite off each other’s flesh.

’’All the trending news today... the Lu family, Si Family, it was all because of you, right?" Daisy questioned suddenly.

Ryle paused but in the end, he did not deny it, ’’Yes,’’ When he had done it in such a high profile manner, he had naturally expected her to know it was him.

Daisy fell silent.

Ryle’s brows tugged together, ’’I just did not want you to be worried about this unnecessarily. I know the company’s PR could have handled the matters if there were rumors about you, but you don’t have to go through this hassle with me around. They were the ones causing troubles, there is no need for you to deal with aftermaths.’’

When Daisy did not say anything, Ryle could not help but tighten his grip on her palm instinctively, ’’If... In the future, there is a similar situation, then I will talk to you about it first. For this time, please don’t blame me...’’

’’Am I ungrateful?’’ Daisy interrupted him, ’’Why would I blame you when all you wanted was to help me?

For the first time, she felt this man who seemed perfect in every aspect was rather silly too.

’’Thank you, Ryle,’’ Daisy whispered, her fingers intertwining with his as he spoke, ’’For being there.’’

’Thud’ ’Thud’ ’Thud’

Ryle’s lips parted, his breathing particularly unstable to some extent.

’’Then, I...’’

’’Let’s sleep. We will talk tomorrow.’’

’’Tomorrow?" He looked at her silhouette in the darkness.
