Chapter 228: She just wanted him
Yes.
The answer came resounding in Daisy’s mind almost immediately.
"He has a good personality. It’s natural to want to have him around."
Diana sneered inwardly.
Good personality. Ryle Harper. What do these two things have to do with each other in any way?
But she knew that she would not get a straightforward answer out of her stubborn sister anyway so she did not push it and instead continued talking, "Does it happen that when he is troubled by something, you are troubled too?"
Yes.
Daisy paused, thinking of the times whenever he talked about his family, his mother, his sister and his family.
Her brows tugged together, forming a small frown, "I care for him as a friend."
Diana scoffed disdainfully, seeing herself in Daisy for once. Just how long had she denied the sign and believed that Maxim Warner was just her childhood friend, the friend she wanted to continue ’friending’ with?! Tsk tsk.
"Does your heart race when he approaches you?" Diana inched towards Daisy as she spoke, "This close.. More close? Hmm?"
Daisy slowly leaned back on the couch and pressed the tip of her index finger on Diana’s shoulder, gently pushing her back, "My schedule has been hectic lately so my heart beats faster every once in a while if I overwork myself."
Diana narrowed her eyes. If she gave up at this juncture, she would not be Diana Chen.
"Do you feel like kissing him when you look at his lips? Or more..." Diana trailed off.
Silence.
"Or can you make eye contact with him? Even for 10 seconds?"
Silence.
"These are just a few of the symptoms. Rest, you can figure it out on your own."
"Stop messing around," Daisy looked at her.
Diana chuckled, "Fine, I will stop here. But you have to remember that no matter what, you will hold onto what makes you happy.
I know it might seem like you both have all the time in the world and there is no rush but expressing feelings for someone doesn’t have to wait.
If you feel for him, then just express it however you want to. And if they feel the same, then they will understand your feelings."
Daisy sighed, her mood complicated, "When did you grow up so much?"
Diana shrugged, "Maxim and I missed out on each other for years over petty misunderstandings. When we got together, I used to feel regret in the initial days. What if I had communicated better with him? What if I did not let go of him?
But despite all the what ifs, I can’t go back to the past and fix our issues."
Diana held Daisy’s hand, no longer looking as mischievous and casual as she had appeared a few moments ago. But all that remained in her eyes was sincerity, "Things are better now, Daisy. You have found Angel, you are raising her well and you are in a better place. If Ryle is it for you, then don’t let him go."
Daisy looked at her.
Diana grinned, the solemnity on her face disappearing like an illusion, "And if he is not the one, then find me. I will get you better guys."
Daisy rolled her eyes, "I don’t need better guys."
She just wanted him.
...
Daisy snapped out of her thoughts and glanced at the empty side of the bed again. After staring at it for another moment, she got out of the bed and dimmed the lights in the room.
When Daisy walked out of the room, she met Benjamin who was sporting a flowery face as he daydreamed about something.
"It’s too late. Why don’t you stay over for the night?" Daisy approached the man, "I will get the butler to clean a guest room for you."
When Benjamin noticed her presence, he halted in his tracks. And his cheerful mood over the upcoming vacation disappeared in thin air when he heard her words.
Although she did not look like it on the surface, she was so kind. Benjamin woefully wiped a drop of tear mentally.
Looking at how his face switched from happy to depressed within an instant, Daisy was bewildered, "What happened?"
"Miss Chen..." Benjamin hesitated the moment he opened his mouth to speak. But in the end, he continued speaking again, "Boss can get muddle headed at times. But he is still very good to you and he will eventually come around.." he spoke.
Lowering his voice, he looked around before he continued speaking, "He appreciates you as well. So, if there is anything that troubles you about him in the future, please try to see Boss’ good intentions..."
Ah! Defending a scoundrel really left one with a bitter taste in the mouth. But what could he do when the scoundrel was his Boss?
Moreover, Benjamin could feel that his Boss, as muddle headed as he was, really liked Daisy so he could only try his best to help him sail his ship.
Daisy blinked.
Sighing, Benjamin greeted her before he turned to leave.
"Stop."
Just as he had taken a step, Daisy walked towards him, "Are you talking about... the girl whom Ryle has found recently?"
Benjamin was stunned.
Seeing his reaction, Daisy was certain that her guess was right. Not many people knew about Ryle’s sister so probably they had some misunderstandings about the relationship they shared.
Since there were many things left to be figured out, it was natural that Ryle would not let many people know about this.
It was one thing that this was one thing that people had misunderstandings.
But she did not want him to be misunderstood by anyone.
"There is nothing like that," Daisy paused for a moment before she continued, "If Ryle really wants to have other involvements, he has no reasons to hide things from me. You should know him well so have more faith in his character."
Benjamin: "_" When you were disguised as Dexter, didn’t you used to say—’Character? Morality? Conscience? Do they have anything to do with Ryle Harper?’
After saying that, a small smile played on Daisy’s lips. Seemingly satisfied by Benjamin’s stumped face, Daisy turned around and walked away.
Benjamin recovered from his shock. Probably, he really had been overthinking things.
