Chapter 216: A clueless death
"Master..." the butler who had dropped to the floor at some point, staggered towards the man when he noticed his unsteady footsteps.
"Let’s go to the authorities. It’s safer there..." Mr. Si never thought there would be a day he would find the presence of police authorities safer but this woman gave him an ominous feeling. He did not want to delay a single second.
Yet just as he had approached the door, the woman stopped in her tracks and turned towards him.
"Are you here to thank me for my magnanimity?"
Mr. Si gulped down the curses in his throat and wiped his sweat with one hand, "Y-Yes, Y-Yes..."
"No need," the woman raised her hand, "Giving you an easy death is the least I can do for you," she tilted her chin to the side, "Burn them alive."
Her words directed at the men behind her.
And as she stepped back, the hearts of the people inside the room grew cold.
In the blink of an eye, the master bedroom had caught a huge fire and the door was wide open.
"Madam, the drug has already started taking effect. They are still conscious but they cannot move at all," one of the men informed.
The woman watched as the three people inside the room wriggled like disgusting worms, crying and yelling, with tears and snot covering their faces, "It would be fun only when they feel the burn, wide awake and conscious."
The sheets, the beddings, their clothings gradually caught fire and their skin started burning, revealing tender flesh, charred marks.
The sound of their painful screams was gut wrenching and animalistic.
"W-Why...Ahhhhhhh?!" Amidst the insane pain, Mr. Si pushed his body forward. No longer did he have any survival instinct left nor did he have any remaining aura of the master of the Si Family.
Every inch of his body was catching fire yet even at this stage, he did not understand why... Just who did he offend to this extent? Why this unbearable torment?! "Ahhhhhhhh..."
As the woman watched the scene before her eyes, her eyes curved, "Death is beautiful only when you don’t know what caused it."
The sound of their screams became more and more muffled under the impact of the drug.
The woman turned around and walked away unhurriedly, followed by the two men behind her.
The gloominess in the Si Mansion carried a hint of death in the air as the servants lay dead in the living room.
As the fire grew more and more, people took notice of it. The police authorities who were waiting outside due to the lack of warrant noticed the abnormalities and rushed in yet there was nothing left for them to save.
All was gone.
The entire Si Mansion perished.
And worst of it all, the heads of the family died without knowing what killed them.
...
Daisy and Ryle were headed back to Chen Mansion. Ryle was driving the car while Daisy sat in the passenger seat, scrolling through the news.
She had started going through them back when she was in the condominium yet she had yet to catch up. It seemed like the more she scrolled, the further new things popped up.
There were pictures and videos of Mrs. Lu being splashed with wine and following that, numerous past scandals and illegal dealings of the Lu family were highlighted as well.
It was no secret that the Lu family had their hands buried deep in the underworld but still, it was not something to be flaunted out aloud like this.
Following that, there was another news that caught her attention. There was a video of a woman dancing in a club, surrounded by numerous men who occasionally groped her and she seemed to be equally involved as well. Swaying her hips, she would incline her body towards them.
Daisy’s face turned slightly unsightly and she almost scrolled past it until her gaze again landed on the woman’s face. She seemed familiar.
Then she glanced at the highlight of the headline.
’Mrs. Lu’s past rendezvous’
"This..."
Ryle, who was occasionally sneaking glances in her direction, noticed where her attention was.
"Don’t look at it," Handling the steering wheel with one hand, he scrolled down.
"You... why?" she glanced at the man blankly. She had yet to read the details and he just scrolled past it.
"It will dirty your eyes," Ryle chided her, almost like he was dealing with a naughty child who saw something that he should not have.
"_" Daisy was speechless.
Noticing her gaze, Ryle sighed, "Alright, don’t be upset now. Why do you need to look at the news? Am I not here? I’ll tell you," he smiled, his eyes glimmering with an evil charm that solely belonged to him.
Daisy felt faint in her brain. Who was upset? Who needed him to tell her anything?
Nevertheless, Ryle was not the least bit concerned about her ’you are too full of yourself’ gaze as he went on, "Apparently, this woman used to dance in bars in the past. Later, she seduced this old geezer and clinched to this current position of hers. Initially, she was a mistress but after the rightful wife passed away, she took over the position."
Daisy was slightly surprised, "I had no idea that the current Mrs. Lu was the second wife. How do I have no recollection of the previous Mrs. Lu?"
"You were young back then," Ryle said, "And that woman was neglected in the Lu Family so she did not show her face in the public. Later, these things were suppressed by the Lu family."
Hence it was not strange that Daisy did not know anything about these things. She surmised that her father must be aware of it.
Moreover, if these incidents were suppressed by the Lu family later, then it was only natural that these things were buried so well for such a long course of time. In the past decades, their influence has grown tremendously so only dumb people would attempt to dig their skeletons.
