Chapter 167: A spa night
’’He asked you to go back in time. You have been missing your meals for the past few days...’’ When her gaze turned to him, Secretary Han added, ’’...is what he said.’’
Daisy paused and looked at her watch, ’’It won’t take a long time. Let’s go back to the meeting...’’
’’Mr. Harper also said that little miss and him will be waiting for you and if you fail to reach home on time, then they can come over to join you with the things that are more important than them,’’ Secretary Han said in a professional tone even though he had the urge to laugh out loud when he saw her speechless expression.
Daisy leaned back on the seat helplessly, ’’Alright. Go back,’’ she removed her suit jacket and unbuttoned the first button of her shirt before closing her eyes.
Since she had already closed her eyes, she did not see the fleeting look exchanged between Secretary Han and the driver.
When Daisy opened her eyes, the sky had turned dark. She looked around, only to realize that she was still in the car. The driver kept checking at her constantly from the rearview mirror and when he saw that she had woken up, his expressions changed. The man seemed flustered.
Daisy narrowed her eyes.
’’P-President, I was ordered to do this. Please don’t be angry...’’ the man blurted out before she could utter a single word.
’’Ordered by whom?" Daisy questioned.
’’By Secretary Han,’’ the driver who was scared shitless quickly explained his stance while focusing on the road, ’’Before you entered the car, I had already received Secretary Han’s text. He had texted me an address and told me that I was supposed to drive you there. Initially, I thought you knew about it but he gave me a look after you dozed off in the car and I only realized then that you had no idea about it. I did not wake you up...’’
Daisy raised a hand, motioning the man to stop explaining. This driver of hers was handpicked by Secretary Han and in these past few weeks, she had noticed that he was professionally trained in martial arts but along with that he was also a very straightforward and honest person so she knew he was not lying about a single thing.
And the moment she heard the mention of Secretary Han, she knew where it was all going and who was the mastermind behind this.
So, Daisy leaned back on the seat and looked out of the window wordlessly.
The driver sighed in relief, without having any guilt for ratting Secretary Han out like this. He had heard this Boss of his was well-trained in martial arts and she had even surpassed the security of Chen Mansion in a disguise. He had seen the tight security of that place that seemed even more complex than that of an underground consortium. A person who can invade that system in disguise... could easily send him to a coma with a backhanded slap. He gulped at the thought of that.
When the door stopped at an isolated place, Daisy looked out without having any intention to move, waiting for the mastermind behind this to appear.
And soon enough, the devilishly handsome mastermind made an appearance.
Ryle, who was waiting for Daisy at a distance in his black sedan looked up the moment her car stopped on the other side of the road.
He alighted the car and crossed the before opening the door for her.
Daisy did not make a move to get out.
’’What is it, princess?"
’’Where is Angel?" she asked first, still leaning back on the seat.
’’Angel was deep asleep when I left the mansion. I had intended to bring her along but she had skipped her afternoon nap so she dozed off in the evening only. I left her in Ivy’s care. Don’t worry, my bodyguards are there and Aunty Lu also reached the mansion today.’’
’’I trust Ivy,’’ Daisy said without hesitation.
’’I know,’’ Ryle reached out to stroke her hair, ’’And I trust you.’’
’’Aunty Lu is here in Beijing? Your bodyguards too?" Daisy questioned the man.
Ryle nodded, ’’I called them over. You don’t lack bodyguards but given your tight schedule, Aunty Lu can be of great help. Even though Ivy takes good care of Angel, but she is young and ambitious and this is not her job so sooner or later, we will have to look for better care for Angel.’’
’’We?" Daisy quirked a brow.
’’Yes, we,’’ Ryle said unblinkingly.
"Do you intend to move your whole world from LA to Beijing, Mr. Harper?"
’’I am afraid I can’t do that,’’ Ryle pulled the woman into his embrace and held her in a princess carry, ’’I already have my world in my arms.’’
’I already have my world in my arms.’
I already have my world in my arms.
I already have my world in my arms.
Daisy did not realize how long she had been silent. It was not until he crossed the road did she snapped out of her daze. Her arms that were wrapped around his neck loosened a bit, ’’You are such a flirt.’’
’’I only flirt with you.’’
’’Sell that to someone who buys it,’’ Daisy turned her head to the side, not meeting his gaze but her words of chastising him were quite the opposite of her actions as she pressed her head onto his chest.
’’I am selling it all to you. Whether you buy it or not, you have all of it. All of me.’’
Daisy’s heart skipped a beat and her grip on the collar of his shirt tightened just slightly before loosening.
Ryle entered the restaurant with Daisy in her arms.
’’You can put me down,’’ Daisy whispered when she saw the people at every table looking at them.
’’President Chen, you must be exhausted after the whole day. Isn’t that the reason why you did not even get out of the car when you obviously spotted me?" Ryle back before he adjusted her position, holding her even higher till her head was resting on his shoulder, ’’Just let me take care of everything. If you are tired, close your eyes.’’
When Ryle saw her gaze roaming around the people at the different tables who were obviously all elites but were looking at them discreetly. His brows tugged slightly, ’’In the past, you were not very pleased when I emptied the places where we went to, even the amusement park so this time I let it be. But it’s not too late...’’
Daisy placed a finger on his lips, ’’What do you mean it’s not too late?" When she felt the tip of his tongue licking her finger, she glared at him in disbelief.
Ryle smirked but his gaze was solemn as he spoke, ’’Do you want this place to be emptied? Just say the word.’’
Daisy was speechless, ’’You are going to chase people out in the middle of their meal just because I asked you to?"
’’Why not?" he asked as if he was saying ’is that a question you should even be asking’.
’’Ryle!"
Ryle cleared his throat, ’’Fine, princess. They all get to eat. I am a kind person, why would I even think of chasing them away?"
Although he said that, his face nowhere looked convincing.
Daisy helplessly leaned into his arms and closed her eyes, pretending to not be there.
His chest rumbled as he chuckled making her hide her face deeper in his chest.
The manager led them to a private room and on the way Daisy was lying motionlessly in Ryle’s arms, making it seem like she was asleep.
The manager bowed and left, leaving Daisy alone with Ryle.
’’You can stop pretending now,’’ Ryle remarked as he looked at the woman in his arms.
’’I am not,’’ Daisy coughed slightly.
Ryle pulled the chair with one hand and placed her on it before arranging it for her, ’’I know you are tired but make do with it. Eat properly first and then I will take you to rest.’’
Daisy leaned forward on the table and placed her elbow on it, supporting the side of her face on her palm, ’’Did you bring me away so far just to rest?" she teased the man.
But Ryle answered her sincerely, ’’In fact, I did have some plans for you but...’’
"What plans?" Daisy’s eyes glimmered lightly as she leaned forward.
Ryle offered her wine but she shook her head and looked at him expectantly, confusing him, ’’A spa night for you to de-stress,’’ he told her honestly. The past few weeks were enough to make him realize how much of a workaholic Daisy was.
In fact, she had seen her working crazily in a toxic pattern when she was his secretary but it had been some time since then so he had forgotten about her working pattern. After she took over the responsibilities of the company, she had only slowed down during the first few transitional days but once she got into it, she immersed herself into it. Sometimes when there was less work pressure which was very rare, she would let Angel tag along with her.
Amidst all these, neither she slept nor she ate properly. If not work, she was with Angel or checking up on the matters of the mansion. She did not get a moment for herself. His heart ached for her hence he kept tabs on her recent schedules to get her to take some time out for herself.
Daisy’s lips twitched slightly at his response but her eyes inadvertently softened.
