Chapter 147: I am happy

’’And there is another thing,’’ Secretary Han said and went somewhere.

When he came back, he had a file in his hands. ’’President has left this for you,’’ he extended the file in his hands towards Daisy.

Daisy held the letter in one hand and took the file quietly.

Secretary Han had a feeling that their elder miss won’t be very pleased by the contents of the file. In a way, he found her quite pitiful too. From one perspective, she did not really have anything that she lacked. She had everything that any person could ever desire but in the end, she was never really able to live her life on her own terms completely. She was always compelled into situations where she had to make decisions that altered life.

He could see that she seemed pleased with her current life but now she...

He sighed.

When Daisy opened the file, her brows tugged together.

’’Those are all the shares that President owned in the Chen Corporation along with the shares that miss sold to him some time ago. He has transferred all of them to you and he resigned from his position as the CEO of the company.’’

He expected her to be shocked. To show some response. Or at least to snap at him for delivering such a news. However, Daisy’s reaction was bound to disappoint the secretary.

’’Alright, you can leave.’’

Secretary Han was unsure how about the reason behind her calmness. He did not know if she was faking it or if she had known it would happen all along. But he could only comply with her wishes and leave.

Daisy closed the file in her hand and shifted her attention to the letter in her other hand.

Ryle who had been a quiet observer finally opened his mouth, ’’If you need something, then call me...’’

"Are you leaving?"

Ryle nodded. As much as he wanted to stay with her but he wanted to give her some time to process things by herself and he believed she would need some space to read the letter that her father had left for her so he could only reluctantly leave his side temporarily.

’’Don’t leave.’’

Daisy did not pay attention to his expressions after she said that and she turned around to walk towards the VIP room.

Ryle stood there stunned for some time before it dawned on him that the woman had gone out of his sight.

He quickly followed her inside the VIP room.

Although Daisy had long entered the room bit she was still standing at the door. When Ryle stepped inside the room, Daisy locked the door behind him.

’’I know there can be urges but love, aren’t your actions too obvious? You are making me shy.’’

Daisy looked at him ’You are making my shy but I will let you do me’ face and suddenly, a small smile appeared on her face and the tension between her brows gradually dissipated.

Ryle’s gaze dropped to her lips. he had just intended to lighten the atmosphere but he did not expect it to work, ’’Are you growing fond of my sense of humor?"

’’No, I am coming to realize that if someone with a terrible sense of humor like yours can have the audacity to crack a joke then nothing is impossible.’’

Ryle rolled his eyes, ’’You wish! How can it be terrible when it made you smile?"

Daisy’s smile froze. She cleared her throat, ’’I am just cautious. The last time we had not locked the door, Diana heard everything and ended up in an early labour,’’ That is what both Maxim and her were afraid of when they had decided to keep everything a secret from Diana. She would take too much of stress which in turn would affect both her and the baby.

But what was bound to happen would still happen. Daisy was relieved that despite the odds, everything turned out to be fine. Both the child and her sister were safe.

Ryle nodded, ’’I did not consider things well when I brought her along.’’

’’It has nothing to do with you,’’ He must have only known that Alice was sick and since he flew here on a short notice, he might not have gotten more information about the situation.

Daisy sat on the couch and opened the letter in her hands. Since she had gotten the shocking information from her father’s secretary already, she did not believe that there could be anything more to this. However, things did not necessarily go as she wished.

’Daisy,

You might be blaming father when you see this but I had intended to this a long time ago. When I saw your mother’s condition worsening in the recent months, I had planned to take her away with me and leave the company affairs to you. But I could not find the courage. You seemed content, if not happy, with your current life. You had built yourself a calm home with my little granddaughter and I did not want to be selfish with you once again. Or at least give you some time and find a better opportunity before I tell about my intentions.

But when things came to this, I had already asked Secretary Han to prepare the shares transfer papers. I am so sorry, princess. Your grandfather had guided me all my life before I was able to take over this position and do justice to it to some extent but I could not even do that for you. I could not give you the time to adjust nor did I ask you whether you are willing.

Your mother has regained consciousness and she has regained her memories. She wants me to take her away from here. I asked her why and she told me that she doesn’t want to face you both for every damage she has done to you over the years. She wants time and I want to give her that.

Take care of yourself, Daisy. I believe Maxim would take care of Diana. It’s a pity that we did not get more time to spend time with our grandchildren but we know you are going to take care of them and give them a childhood that we were unable to give you.

Regardless of what happened in the past, I want you to know that you both have always been two blessings in our lives. We were enshrouded in darkness but the only times we saw light was when the both of you came into our life.’

Daisy’s eyes turned red when she looked up from the letter.

’’Shhh... Don’t cry. If you do, I won’t know what to do,’’ Ryle was so flustered that he got to his knees in front of her.

’’I am not crying.’’

’’You seem like you are about to cry,’’ Ryle’s heart ached. He realized how much he disliked when he saw her like that. It made him feel helpless because he could not even do anything to the person who made her like this because it was none other than her father.

He badly wished that it was Lu Xian who wrote her the letter instead then he could have found the satisfaction by beating that bastard into a pulp.

But the instant he thought like that, he felt sour in his heart. If Daisy got so emotional over a letter that that leech wrote to her then he could not have been able to settle on just beating him into a pulp. He would have exterminated his entire existence.

He analyzed the situation and came up with a solution immediately, wanting to make her feel more optimistic, ’’You don’t want to handle the company affairs, then don’t. I will find you a close-to-perfect stand-in CEO. You just have to pay him his part and he will take care of the company affairs. I will keep people to track his actions and report it to you in case you are concerned about that. And the whole process of appointing the stand-in CEO will be conducted by me. You just have to watch over the process and select the person whom you find decent for the position...’’

’’No, it’s not that,’’ Daisy was initially confused about where his thoughts were going but the more she heard him, she felt that he must have misunderstood her actions, ’’I am just happy.’’

’’Happy?" Ryle frowned.

Daisy nodded.

Relieved, he got up and sat beside her on the couch. Without any restraints, Ryle cupped her face and fixed her hair, tucking them by the sides before wiping the drop that had rolled down her eyes at some point, ’’If you are happy, then smile. You scared me.’’

’’Why would you be scared?"

Ryle was stumped by her question. He did not ponder over it but instead cleared his throat and asked her, ’’Why were you happy?"
