Chapter 128: I need her mommy

’’Huh? What do you mean?" The man who was patiently waiting for her to speak was bewildered when he heard her words.

’’I want to sell the shares that Grandpa has left for me, all 12% shares,’’ Before the man could say anything, ’’If you agree, only then will I take the money from you.’’

A long moment of silence passed before Helian Chen spoke up, ’’But even if you sell your shares, you need to know that the market value of those shares is much more than a measly amount of $50 billion,’’ he did not turn her offer down because knowing her unbending character, he was afraid that she would change her mind and not take his money when she obviously seemed to need it or else she would never have called him.

’’That’s why I am selling it to you. I don’t need to calculate about those things. All 12%. And $50 billion.’’

Helian Chen had mixed feelings about her words. He felt happy but disappointed too.

Happy because her words translated to ’You are family. The Family’s shares are going into the family. I don’t have to be calculative about it.’

But on the other hand, her uncaring stance regarding the market value of those shares told him that she did not put them in her eyes. Had she not needed the money, she might have agreed to give them away to him for free. And he knew she wanted no association with the family business.

That meant, that once she sold the shares, she would really have nothing tying her to the company.

But still, he had no other choice.

’’Alright,’’ he said.

*Flashback ends*

By the time Daisy finished narrating the whole incident, Ryle had gone silent.

Daisy looked at him, ’’The reason I told you about it is because you had asked me about the source of money in the past.’’

In other words, she was merely answering his older queries because she had avoided them back then to irk him. She did not want to guilt trap him nor did she want him to feel bad about it.

’’It was my decision and I have no attachments with the company,’’ she added.

Secondly, she did not like owing anything to anyone. But she knew that she had breached Ryle’s trust for a long time by keeping her identity in the dark. Hence, even though the compensation amount was ridiculously high and unreasonable, she wanted to restore the balance by paying it.

Daisy felt a pain on her face as the man ruthlessly pinched her cheeks.

’’I thought you were smarter,’’ Money was the last thing he wanted from her. He was just making things difficult for her so that she would come and beg him to let her go and then he would trap her by his side.

It was not until Daisy’s brows scrunched up slightly did the man released her cheek and watched it turning red, ’’Sensitive,’’ he whispered before stroking it gently.

Even though he reprimanded her, his eyes were twinkling with a tinge of happiness. The fact that she did not take any sort of help from that leech did please him quite a bit although he would never confess that.

’’You said that your grandfather had left the shares for you and other things for Diana because she was never interested in business,’’ Ryle said as his fingers raked inside her hair continuing to stroke her.

Daisy nodded, ’’What about it?"

"Does that mean you are interested in business?"

His question stunned her and she was silent for a moment before she said, ’’No.’’

Ryle raised an eyebrow, ’’Your father naturally has high expectations from you. In recent interviews or conferences, he had been explicit about his wishes for you to inherit the family business. Are you sure you don’t want a part of it? Or all of it?"

"Yes.’’

Ryle was not surprised by her response though. He found it rather laughable how all the other elite families, even families like the Lu Family had dirty dynamics going on over the inheritance issues. After, greed could sow discord in the deepest bonds.

But then, there was the Chen Family. The father seemed desperate to hand over the inheritance but the younger daughter had become a writer and the elder daughter found her passion in part-time ’’dangerous’’ jobs and hacking.

"Why do you ask?" Daisy glanced at him with narrowed eyes, ’’If you want me out of your mansion, say it in an outright manner. You don’t have to ask me when I will go to Beijing to take over the family business...mmm...’’

Ryle kissed her lips again, interrupting her words. And the man only let go of her lips when she was a panting mess, ’’Come again,’’ he said provocatively.

Daisy placed her hands on his chest and attempted to stand as she pushed him away. But he tightened his grip on his waist such that she bounced back on his lap the moment she stood up.

’’Is Angel a light sleeper?" Ryle questioned with utmost seriousness.

Daisy’s muddleheaded brain couldn’t comprehend why he was asking that but still she shook her head, "Once she sleeps, she doesn’t open her eyes before 10 am.’’

That habit was rubbed off on Diana since Angel had been with her for a long time when she was barely six months. And that habit stayed. She was a deep sleeper.

’’Good.’’

’’Why do you ask?"

’’I need her Mommy,’’ With that, Ryle picked her up and took her downstairs again and as they entered his room, her heart raced.

Did he perhaps...?

She gulped.

She was not ready.

However, the man’s consequent actions put a halt to her wild imagination.

He placed her on the bed and climbed on the other side of the bed. He hugged her tightly, buried his face in her neck, and held her like a human pillow. In the next few seconds, she could clearly hear the sound of his even breathing.

"_"

Daisy was dumbfounded.

The man just held her and dozed off within a split second as if he hadn’t slept in ages. But Daisy could not sleep.

There was a myriad of thoughts in her mind. What happened between them on the terrace was playing in her mind, his words, his actions, her little Angel sleeping peacefully next door... everything kept her awake.

But she did not move in the slightest, afraid that she would wake Ryle up.

In the blink of an eye, four hours seemed to have passed. Daisy’s eyes were growing heavy. It was way past 4 am.

Daisy nimbly removed Ryle’s arm from her body and moved away. But even in his deep sleep, Ryle stretched his hand to reach out to her but Daisy slowly retreated.

Her gaze landed on his handsome face for a moment and she could not help but reach out her hand towards him. But just as her fingers were about to touch him, Daisy placed her hand down, ’’Sleep,’’ she whispered and left his room.

In the next room, as expected, the little girl had not even changed sides in her sleep. She was sleeping in the exact position that Daisy had left her in.

Daisy lay beside Angel and pulled the bundle of warmth to her arms as she kissed her head, ’’Little pig...’’ Some of her thoughts still seemed to be revolving around a certain man but before she could realize it, she had already slipped into slumber.

The next day, Daisy was stirred away by "certain noises" made by Ryle’s male parrot.

"Ahhh...."

"Master, spank me... ahh....’’

Daisy frowned but she did not open her eyes.

Both of the parrots barely stayed in the mansion. They liked to fly in the vast stretch of forest behind the estates. But every once in a while, they would come back and be "active" in the mansion.

’’Shut up. If you don’t change your habits, I am going to roast you and feed you to street dogs,’’ a light threatening whisper was followed by the parrot’s incessant moaning.

When Daisy heard the familiar voice, she couldn’t help but open her eyes.

But bright rays of sunlight seemed to be invading the room, blinding her vision. She covered her eyes with the back of her hand, ’’Ryle?" she called out to the man once her eyes adjusted to the glaring lights.

She looked at the man who was sitting on the couch beside the king-sized bed. One of his legs was crossed over the other and he was dressed rather casually. He was wearing a black shirt that was paired with grey trousers, his hair was not sleek or combed and it was messy somehow adding a different charm to him. And he was wearing glasses as he focused on the laptop on his knees.

When he heard her voice, he raised his head to look at her and a charming smile bloomed on his cold face, ’’Yes, sweetheart?"

Daisy felt like his soft whispers sounded too sinful, so seductive to her ears which were not used to such sweet nothings.
