Chapter 410: Chapter 320: Unequal Treaty (Part 2)
"Here, sign this, and for the next five thousand years, follow it, and I can spare your lives."
With that, Lynn waved his hand, and a stack of A4-sized "contracts" landed in front of Victor.
The numerous Demon soldiers and generals below were unable to see the contents of the small papers from such a distance, but the Seven Great Demon Kings and Demon Race powerhouses above the Saint Tier could see it clearly.
The stack of papers was thick, very thick, but Victor flipped through it extremely slowly because each clause required the Demon Race to pay a significant price. Missing even a tiny bit could result in losses amounting to the billions.
As the treaty was flipped through, all the Demon Race powerhouses present began to breathe more heavily. If the situation weren’t inappropriate, the Seven Great Demon Kings would have certainly glared at Lynn fiercely.
This guy, Lynn, is really biased towards the Miracle World. Aren’t your wives in the Demon Realm also your wives? If this treaty is executed, they’re definitely going to have a hard time for a long while.
Even as a Demon King, although resources are scarce, they still wouldn’t be deprived of them. However, the development speed of the Demon Realm would undoubtedly suffer significantly.
The only consolation is that he didn’t demand any demon’s life this time, at least not shorting the Guardian Demon God’s Power of Faith. Otherwise, even at the risk of exposing relationships, they would have to cause a ruckus with Lynn.
He’s smart enough that the terms he offered choked the Demon Race, making them feel suffocated, but not so fiercely that they were strangled to death.
Similar conditions were usually offered by the Pioneer Legion of the Guardian Demon God Faction to the worlds they "pioneered". Who knew it would someday be reversed onto them?
But at least he didn’t offer conditions akin to the Destruction Legion of the Destruction Demon God Faction. Those conditions were harsh because there were no conditions at all; they’d wipe out the race and realm regardless of agreements...
As time ticked by, Victor’s hands had flipped to the last few pages of the treaty. Lynn hovered in mid-air, watching them without any intent to rush but deliberately exerting the pressure of a True God, giving them enough "emotional value."
Finally, when the drafted treaty reached its last page, all the Demon Race powerhouses felt their hearts bleeding, yet they unconsciously sighed in relief.
Although executing this treaty meant the Demon Race would pay a significant and long-term price, no matter how it was flipped, there were no provisions for demon slaying out of spite, indicating at least their lives were spared.
"Saint Emperor, this treaty is rather..."
Victor held the finished treaty with trembling hands; clearly, it was just a stack of papers, yet she felt it bearing the weight of thousands of tons.
She could understand the severity of this treaty. Once she nodded and signed, although the price wasn’t borne personally by her demon, it would indeed strip her of any prestige and burden her with infamy for life.
As one of the strong clans in All Realms, when has the Demon Race suffered such a huge loss? When have they signed such a humiliating and treasonous treaty?
If this treaty were really signed, the name signed on it would surely go down in the Demon Realm’s history, to be scorned by future generations.
The Ancient Demon Dragon Race is ultimately a rather proud race; it’s not that they can’t lose face, but they can’t afford such humiliation!
So, even knowing that she had no justification, Victor still wanted to argue her case.
However, just as she spoke, Lynn silenced her with a mere glance, not even allowing her to make the slightest sound.
"This is the treaty I drafted, and presenting it is for you to sign, not to negotiate..."
"So, if you can’t decide, I’ll ask each one of you according to your levels. If the 999-level Near God Demon Dragon doesn’t sign, then execute her, and pass the pen to the highest level, the 985-level Proud Demon King..."
"If the Proud Demon King won’t sign, execute them and pass the pen to the 985-level Envious Demon King. If the Envious Demon King won’t sign, execute them and pass it to the 985-level Furious Demon King..."
"And so forth, I believe if you all refuse, there will be demons who will sign. Anyway, it’s your Demon Race dying, even if Near Gods, the Seven Great Demon Kings, Demigod demons, and peak Great Demons are all vanquished, it won’t affect me in the slightest. I don’t care, understand?"
Lynn silenced Victor, making his stance clear: there was no room for negotiation on any conditions he proposed. The Demon Race had only to sign the treaty and adhere to its terms; nothing else could be done.
No bargaining, no objections, not even skepticism was allowed. If there was anything you wished to say, perhaps you could negotiate with Death God after you’re dead, if the Demon Race could even meet with Death God...
"Now I ask you, will you sign, or will you give this opportunity to the Proud Demon King?"
Saying this, Lynn tossed a pen toward Victor while simultaneously locking onto her demon soul.
Either sign your name, or perish; the merciful True God had given Victor two free choices, promising no interference in her decision and fully respecting whichever choice she made.
Victor, under the gag order, dared to be angry but not to speak. Her heart was nearly burned through with humiliation and rage. Was the Miracle Saint Emperor really asking her to choose?
One was true death, the other societal death; didn’t both choices still mean death?
Clearly invincible in the Lower Realm as a Near God, yet trembling like a Parkinson’s patient with a feather-light pen in hand.
Right now, she was utterly blocked in despair, unable to choose either path.
Why! Why is it me!
Clearly Illidan is the Demon Emperor! The Seven Great Demon Kings are the actual rulers of today’s Demon Realm!
I’m just the mother of the Late Emperor’s child...
The claim of being Vice Emperor is just self-aggrandizement; how many Demon Race powerhouses truly follow her command?
She wasn’t even a devoted follower of the Guardian Demon God but rather a fence-sitting turncoat. Now, the Miracle Saint Emperor had designated her as the primary Demon Realm representative, which was somewhat excessive and inappropriate.
Perhaps you should take this treaty to the Demon Emperor Palace and consult the Demon Emperor? He’s merely closing himself off to breakthrough, not deceased. Illidan, the Demon Emperor, is still here; as a mere honorary elder, I shouldn’t have the final say...
Victor desperately wished to reason, but the gag order persisted, and the True God’s pressure robbed her of her ability to act. The only thing she could do now was to sign or refrain from doing anything, choosing to close her eyes and await death.
In such a seemingly optional yet invariably dead-end situation, for a moment, Victor truly wished to embrace death for peace. But upon second thought, the Illidan Demon Emperor’s breakthrough was imminent, possibly leaving the Demon Emperor position vacant again soon.
While the Seven Great Demon Kings were immensely talented and exceptionally powerful, their inheritances were complete and the Demon King Orders refined. Although outwardly boasting 985 high levels, infinitely nearing Near God, their peak had passed; their potential largely expended with no prospects of major breakthroughs in the short term.
This meant that Victor might have an 80 to 90 percent chance of ascending to the Demon Emperor position without much effort. Her active assault on the Miracle World was largely driven by this, as she seldom appeared publicly in the Demon Realm, lacking her own faction and sufficient prestige, making it imperative to achieve accomplishments to supplement her stature. Conquering the toughest challenge in her race’s history was undoubtedly a great choice.
But who could have anticipated, that this tough challenge was really darn hard indeed, not that the predecessors and contemporary demons were incapable of tackling it. She had barely taken a bite and hadn’t touched the bone before shattering three of her teeth...
