Chapter 348: Chapter 289: Revealing the Heavenly Secrets (Part 2)
A sword light flashed, and the heads of over a dozen War Divine Hall powerhouses were severed; most were instantly killed, while others lost a substitute death divine artifact.
These people aren’t wealthy Saint Emperor Level figures; how many life-preserving items could they possess? Lynn charged and killed again, another sweep of the blade sending them to meet the War God.
"It’s Lynn! Lynn has returned! He’s captured His Majesty the Saint Emperor!"
A shocked cry erupted from the crowd below, only now noticing Lynn and Rodman.
To Lynn’s surprise, as their Pope was captured, the War Divine Hall’s legion did not lose morale or disperse; instead, they were stirred as though provoked, suddenly charging forward, shouting.
They loudly shouted their rapid assault, varied and chaotic calls, but mostly chants like "Long live the War God" or "Save soldier Rodman"—all about charging forward.
A significant portion among them couldn’t fly, yet they followed their Divine Hall’s Saint Tier powerhouses and Sky Knights, joining the fray even just to boost their numbers, make a show.
"Good coming!"
Seeing this, Lynn was not alarmed but delighted; he feared they would all flee, causing chaos and difficulty in their clean-up work.
Charging like this to their deaths was just right; at the very least, Akelie could take a heavy blow before they gradually withdrew.
Lynn specially swapped out the Saint Emperor’s Sword, casually choosing a Fire Element Broadsword to kill enemies. Though these folks deserved their fate, he still did not want his Human Race Saint Emperor’s Sword stained with too much human blood.
As Lynn engaged in rampageous slaughter amongst the crowd, Akelie high above couldn’t help but show a hint of surprise.
Is this a way to upgrade?
Clearly, his forbidden curse hadn’t even descended, and it was entirely Lynn in combat; yet, he could feel his own strength rapidly growing, akin to the power of divine gift, practically gaining without merit.
Could near god really mean becoming a god? This could compare with the power of gods...
But this wasn’t the time for overthinking; killing the enemy was priority.
So Akelie focused, chanting the forbidden spell, and then a bright eternal light descended upon the War legion.
After the dazzling light faded, a massive part of the army below was empty, the soldiers caught by the eternal light left no corpses, vaporized entirely.
Yet even so, the War legion fought to the death without retreat, unshaken even by the fearsome curse.
If the Demon Race was merely fearless in battle, then the War legion transcended fearlessness, embracing death as glory, honoring fallen in war.
This seemed the mark of a qualified War God disciple, born for war, dying for war.
Lynn and Akelie silently watched this scene, simultaneously feeling that compared to other Divine Halls or Church Courts, the War Divine Hall appeared almost cult-like; its believers either were inherently insane or driven mad by belief.
"Mobilize all who can launch distant attacks, annihilate these maniacs! They’re all security threats to the Divine Protection Continent!"
Saying this, Lynn dove down, willingly entering the War legion’s encirclement; meanwhile, Akelie, having cast a round of forbidden spells and facing skill cooldown, was tasked to gather mages and archers around the Holy City of Light.
He believed with Lynn present, those ranged attackers would surely be protected, and to swiftly eliminate such war enthusiasts, the two of them alone couldn’t do it in a short time.
Moments later, Lynn had lost count of how many he’d killed among the crowd when Akelie finally gathered reinforcements.
With abundant ranged attacks joining in, the War legion fell like crops cut down, trying to counter but their attacks blocked by Lynn’s tools; the few that got through could not overcome Akelie and other Light Divine Mages’ magic shield array.
At this point, the War legion finally felt retreat, but the frenzy had left its soldiers beyond the command of high-tier clerics or Legion Commander types, who issued withdrawal with few responses.
Ultimately, as Lynn pursued fleeing high-ranking War Divine Hall members, and Akelie directed layer-by-layer advances, this city gate’s War legion was completely swept away.
However, this was merely one battlefield; after clearing here, Lynn needed to hurriedly lead Akelie to another gate for more fighting.
Luckily, the Miracle World being one of sword and magic didn’t require hacking with cold weapons; under area attacks and forbidden curse magic, even a million troops could be annihilated swiftly.
Subsequently, Lynn and Akelie exterminated enemies at three battle sites, with Akelie impressively upgrading to level 830, not merely closing his gap with Rodman—surpassing him, once again becoming second to Lynn on the Divine Protection Continent.
"Lynn, with the presence of the Light Barrier, the rest of the battlefields are worry-free; how about interrogating Rodman first?"
Having finished at one more battlefield, Akelie approached Lynn, observing Rodman beside them, silent with closed eyes, frowning as he spoke.
Though silenced by Lynn, Rodman remained quiet, even motionless; unsettlingly odd, Akelie felt a dread and warned Lynn of dealing with Rodman.
"Alright, as I’m watching, there should be no mishap."
Considering Akelie’s suggestion for a moment, Lynn agreed, eager to know what the War God was plotting and whether it endangered himself or others around him.
He felt sure to guard against anyone in the Miracle World or any demon in the Demon Realm, but against a deity, particularly a Main God’s gaze, he was less confident.
"I’ll begin now."
As Lynn released the external barrier, leaving only confinement of body, Akelie promptly employed previously ineffective Truth-telling and Holy Word Techniques on Rodman.
Surprisingly, Rodman, despite his senses sealed, exposed a twisted, mad smile under the truth and holy word overlap.
"Hehe, originally you needn’t know all this so soon, could have enjoyed many peaceful years; but since you chose death, don’t blame me!"
Rodman’s face twisted further, death creeping on it suddenly.
"Actually...the Light God King long since perished with the Destruction and Guardian Demon Gods! Now, the War God rules the Divine Realm! You are no divine envoy or pope! Without a godly master, you worship an illusion! Hahaha...ugh..."
Amidst the hysterical laughter, Rodman abruptly died, so fast Lynn couldn’t save him—a sudden death seeming like invisible divine punishment for divulging secrets.
Yet for Lynn and Akelie, Rodman’s state was overshadowed; they were left astounded by Rodman’s final revelations.
Especially Akelie, Pope of the Light Church Court, his eyes lost spirit, quickly becoming vacant.
Light God King...fallen?
Impossible! If He were gone, all the Light Church Court’s faith power should deactivate! It continually flows upward!
Thus Akelie only hesitated a moment before recovering, then spat fiercely at Rodman’s corpse—his first public breach of decorum as Pope of Light.
