Chapter 182: Chapter 182: The Unyielding
World thirteen’s atmosphere hit Kael the moment the ship’s doors opened.
Sebastian was waiting on the landing pad.
"Still think you’re hot shit?" Sebastian said, falling into step beside Kael as they walked toward the estate gates. "Because let me remind you, first place in a school tournament doesn’t mean anything in the real world."
Kael didn’t look at him. "Was there a question in there somewhere?"
Sebastian’s jaw tightened. "We will see whether you still have that arrogant smirk on your face later."
"Looking forward to it."
Isabella fell in on Kael’s other side, her eyes scanning the familiar estate with the cool assessment.
Kael ignored them both and checked his system status, the translucent window expanding in his vision.

He closed the status window and let his eyes wander across the estate. He remembered when he had left two years ago. Peak Core Formation Rank 9. Now he was Mana Heart Rank 1, standing on the same ground he had once crawled across as a child, and the estate felt small.
The throne room doors opened.
The hall stretched before them. Vorn banners hung from the rafters, their silver threads catching the light of floating mana orbs. The floor was black stone polished to a mirror finish, reflecting the hundreds of people gathered in the room like stars reflected in dark water.
At the far end, on a throne carved from a single piece of obsidian, sat a man who appeared to be in his forties but was immeasurably older. Black hair streaked with silver. A scar ran from his left cheek down to his neck, a pale line against bronze skin. Cold eyes that held the weight of centuries of absolute authority. His head rested on his fist, his posture so still he could have been a statue.
Vorn the Unyielding. Family Head. Four hundred years of accumulated power condensed into a single man.
Behind the throne stood Blade No. 10 and Blade No. 7 with their masked faces. Their presence alone was enough to make the air in the room feel heavier.
At the Family head’s right hand sat another man. Grayson Vorn. The assistant family head. The Family Head’s older brother. He had the same black hair, the same bone structure, the same cold calculation in his eyes. But where the Family Head was a predator at rest, Grayson was a predator pretending to be a diplomat.
All children were present. All nine of the Family Head’s children stood in a line near the door, already in greeting stances, arranged by age and importance.
Cassandra stood at the center, the eldest daughter and primary heir. Her expression was unreadable.
Victor, the second son, stood beside her. Cold, quiet, observant, his hands clasped behind his back.
Thalia stood third.
Marcus stood fourth, his jaw clenched so hard the muscles in his neck bulged visibly, his hatred for Kael radiating like heat from a furnace.
Sebastian stood seventh, the Discard, his rank 8 Foundation establishment realm a joke compared to what Kael now possessed. His eyes were fixed on the floor.
Isabella stood at the fifth, her expression calm, her mind already calculating the political implications of everything happening in the room.
Then came the younger ones. Elena, the eighth sister, now sixteen and preparing to enter the academy in four years time. Nora, the ninth sister, now thirteen.
And Kael, the sixth son, stood at the end of the line.
Beside the nine children of the Family Head stood the three children of Grayson. Felix, the eldest of Grayson’s children, stood with arms crossed and a calculating smile that mirrored his father’s diplomatic mask. Diana, the second, leaned against a pillar with disinterest, examining her nails. Caelus, the youngest, simply watched Kael with the open curiosity of someone who had heard stories about the sixth son and wanted to see if they were true.
"Kael. Sebastian. Isabella." Felix called out, his tone carrying the careful warmth of someone marking territory. "Welcome back."
"Uncle Grayson," Kael replied with a polite nod.
"Good to see you still breathing, Felix." Sebastian muttered.
"Likewise," Isabella said flatly.
Felix’s calculating smile widened. "The seventh son too. Still as charming as ever."
Sebastian’s eye twitched. "And the first son of Uncle Grayson’s line. Still as slimy as ever."
Diana snorted from her pillar.
Caelus just watched.
"Rise," the Family Head’s voice cut through the murmuring.
Every person in the room straightened. Kael rose from his greeting stance along with everyone else.
The Family Head observed them for a few moments. His cold eyes moved slowly across each face.
Then he was in front of Kael.
Nobody saw him move. One moment he was on the throne. The next he was standing close enough that Kael could smell the ancient mana radiating from his body, dense and oppressive, carrying the weight of four hundred years of cultivated power.
Pressure descended.
It wasn’t killing intent. It was worse. It was the aura of a man who had killed more people than Kael had eaten meals. The gravity in the room seemed to tripled. Kael’s knees buckled. He forced them to lock. His Void Body Tier 4 Mid held his bones together through sheer structural density, but the pressure was staggering.
"Now," the Family Head said, his voice quiet enough that everyone in the room strained to hear. "You will tell me how you have a purple grade talent when you tested for an orange grade."
Silence.
Then the murmurs started.
Purple grade. Purple. In this room, only two people were confirmed to possess a purple grade talent. The Family Head himself. Cassandra. And now, apparently, the sixth son.
Thalia’s hands trembled at her sides.
Marcus’s expression darkened with something beyond hatred. His fists clenched so hard blood seeped between his knuckles. His eyes communicated exactly what he was thinking.
Felix’s calculating smile had frozen. His eyes darted to the Family Head, then to Kael.
The Family Head’s cold eyes remained fixed on Kael.
Kael met his gaze without flinching. The pressure was suffocating, but his violet-silver eyes held steady.
"A fruit," Kael said, his voice steady despite the weight pressing down on his spine. "A specific type of Starwhisper Root variant. I consumed it after my Awakening ceremony. It permanently upgraded my talent from orange to purple."
The Family Head stared at him for five endless seconds that felt like eternity.
Then he turned and walked back to his throne leaving Kael breathing hard, the pressure lifting like a hand releasing a throat.
The throne room breathed again. Murmurs and dark thoughts filled the space like water rushing into a broken hull.
Marcus looked at Kael with an expression that was entirely murder.
The Family Head said nothing more.
What followed was the standard post-tournament family discussion. Resource allocation. Territory disputes. Academic performance reviews for the younger children. Cassandra handled most of the administrative details with Isabella quietly supporting her. Grayson negotiated the Vorn family’s economic council. Felix chimed in when it suited his interests and stayed quiet when it didn’t.
Elena and Nora were told about their upcoming academy preparations.
