"I was the one who brought Aaron out, so I had to bring him back safely." Vera Xavier knew he would ask about this again, so she said bluntly, "Besides, I saw you there. I also noted the hijacker’s angle. If he had just stepped out a little, you definitely could have killed him with one shot!"
Nathaniel Nathan’s gaze deepened as he looked at her. Since their marriage, she had given him one surprise after another. Her personality was completely different from what he’d imagined. She wasn’t weak in the slightest; in fact, she was quite formidable. She was full of her own little schemes and plans, and she didn’t hesitate at all when it came to dealing with people.
’What she just said was a clear indication that she understood shooting angles. For something like that, if it wasn’t the result of professional training, it could only mean she possessed an extraordinary natural talent.’

Vera Xavier felt her hair stand on end under his scrutiny and continued, "In a situation like that, you could tell the hijacker was a desperate, vicious man. Once you prepared the car for him and he was confident he could get away, we would have absolutely become the targets for him to vent on. When that happened, not only would Aaron have died, but all of us at the scene would have died too. That’s why we had to find a way to subdue him then and there."
"The situation didn’t leave me any time to think. That’s why I took the initiative to offer to be the hostage. I’m a woman, so in their eyes, I’d be easier to control. They could also take me in the car with them, so they were bound to agree. As long as they agreed, I’d have a chance to expose him to your line of fire."
"So you had confidence in me," Nathaniel Nathan said coldly.

The corners of his mouth curled up involuntarily, but halfway into a smile, he remembered his purpose. ’How can I let her off this easily?’ He put his stern expression back on and said, "Even so, you’re not allowed to do something that risky! You have to be punished for this, or you’ll never learn your lesson!"
Vera Xavier cried out, "Ah!" He had already reached out, scooped her into his arms, and pushed her down until she was lying face-down across his lap.
Her mind uncontrollably flashed back to the sight of him fresh from his shower. But before she could dwell on it, a sharp pain shot through her bottom. She was completely stunned. ’Damn it, he was actually hitting her!’
She tried to struggle, but his large hand pressed down on her back, and she couldn’t move an inch.
His hand rose and fell, again and again. Although he was intentionally holding back, he was simply too strong. Even with his strength restrained, the smacks still made her bottom sting fiercely.

After about ten smacks, Nathaniel Nathan realized something wasn’t right. He quickly stopped and helped her sit up, only to see her face stained with tears.
