Chapter 179: Share

Amy’s POV

Most men assumed that when women met up for drinks, all that they did was gossip and giggle over silly things like their favorite musicians and their crushes.

While there was some truth in that most of the time when women had drinks together, they often did so in order to talk about serious things. Some things just could not be talked about unless there was a little alcohol to make the conversation easier.

That was currently the case between Amy and Vivian.

It was a Friday, night which made it the perfect time for Amy to drink without a care in the world because she was not going to work the following day.

The moment that she had gotten off work, Amy had rushed home, showered, changed and then she had been right out heading to Ryan Terrell’s penthouse. When she had arrived, Ryan had taken one look at her and Vivian and he had quickly made himself scarce,( a very intelligent guy Vivian’s man).

Now it was just the two of them sprawled on the super comfortable penthouse floor, instead of sitting on the couches, drinking martinis while talking bad about Bryce. He was the last thing that they wanted to discuss, but they ’needed’ to talk about him.

"All of those things that he posted about you, that man is truly awful. If I ever see him again, I am going to tazer his nuts," In the past, if Amy had so much as insinuated doing something violent towards Bryce, Vivian had flinched, but now all that the other woman did was nod in agreement.

Taking a sip of her drink, she hummed in satisfaction.

"I might just join you with a tazer of my own, that man is in need of a serious shock to his nervous system. Perhaps it would help him stop being such a douchebag," Wholeheartedly agreeing with that, Amy knocked back her drink. Her eyes slipping shut as it slid down her throat. When she reopened them, she found Vivian looking repulsed.

"What? What is it?"

"Knowing him, he would probably enjoy it," Realizing that her friend was probably right, Amy felt a look of disgust come over her own face. Bryce had always been so weird about things, he’d probably beg them to turn up the power. Shuddering , Amy poured herself another drink, and promptly emptied it. It did wonders to clear her mind of the horrible thought.

"I can’t believe I was with someone like that for such a long time. Why didn’t you punch some sense into me?" Vivian asked, her voice sounding vulnerable.

Reaching out, Amy topped up her friend’s glass before doing the same with her own, only then did she answer.

"You needed to get yourself out of the situation. If I had tried to force things on you, you probably would have done something even worse, like get married to the guy,"

Her hand shaking, Vivian brought her glass to her lips and took a sip. "You are right, past me would definitely have done something like that. But now, I’ve learned to love myself and I’ve got my Ryan, who is warm, kind, loving,..."

"...and a beast in the sack," Amy added, cackling gleefully, when Vivian choked on air.

"Amy!" She hissed, her face pink.

"Oh, relax you, he already left, besides, did I lie?" Her face going even redder, Vivian did not bother answering, instead she just picked up her glass and drank some more.

As the night progressed and the two of them continued to drink and talk, Amy could not help but keep stealing glances at her friend. Unable to stop feeling an unbelievable sense of happiness come over her every time that she did so.

She had watched her friend be down in the dumps for weeks after the whole misunderstanding. Before that, she’d had to endure, standing back and being a spectator while Vivian suffered indignity after indignity at the hands of Bryce. But now her friend was finally in a good space.

Amy knew that to be true, because had the attacks that Vivian was currently facing happened at an earlier point in time, her friend would have fallen apart. There would have been no picking up the pieces. But now, mentally and emotionally, Vivian was so strong that all of the vitriol being spewed her way by absolute strangers, thanks to Bryce, was just rolling right off of her. She was content in herself and in her relationship, and that was doing wonders for her, for that Amy was glad.

"You know I have been feeling really bad that I could not come to you immediately when all of this started going down," Shaking her head, Vivian fixed Amy with an incredibly intense look given their amount of alcohol they had downed.

"Do not do that to yourself Amy, we both know that it was better for you to stay away. That would it mean less of a chance of people hounding you. You haven’t faced any problems thanks to the stories right?" Amy shook her head, very carefully choosing not to think about how she’d had to threaten her co-workers, when they had realized that the Vivian being spoken of was Amy’s friend and had wanted the inside scoop.

Sighing in relief, Vivian reached for a chip on their plate of snacks and took a bite.

"I am glad that you have at least been spared having to deal with all of this. Anyways, enough about me, let’s talk about you,"

"What about me?"

Vivian shrugged, "Is there anyone new in your life, someone who has caught your eye?" For absolutely no reason, Amy found her mind flashing to Ryan Terrell’s best friend, Mark, and she immediately tried to think of something else. But it was too late, Vivian had seen the shift in her expression.

"Oooh! There is, isn’t there! Who is it?! Come on! Please tell me about your major man crush!"
