Chapter 125: Brainstorming
Gwendolyn’s POV
"Langston Terrell, the grandfather of business mogul Ryan Terrell, has been hospitalized. Not much has been made public about the elder Terrell’s condition. But speculations point to-" Rubbing at her brow, Gwendolyn snapped her fingers and the TV went dark.
How in the world could something so terrible happen? Ryan’s grandfather was in the hospital. Given his age whatever it was, was probably serious.
This was not good at all. How in the world was she supposed to get her claws back into Ryan without his grandfather’s help?
How could the old man be so selfish?! Couldn’t the old goat have hung on long enough for her to use him to get to his grandson? Clearly the old man had no consideration for other people at all. She had really been counting on him to be her most effective weapon against Ryan Terrell.
Now he was probably about to kick the bucket. Seeing that he was a Terrell, he’d probably done it just to spite her.
Clearly this was where Ryan’s younger brother had gotten such a useless trait. Like grandfather like grandson. Knocking on death’s door just when things were getting interesting.
How troublesome.
If she were like other people who gave up at the slightest inconvenience Gwendolyn would have already put on her mourning attire and would have been crying over a missed opportunity.
But she was not one to wallow in self-pity. When things went south Gwendolyn quickly thought of how to remedy the situation. After Brian had died shortly after the fact that they were sleeping together had been revealed. Gwendolyn had quickly pulled herself together and had decided that her best option was to leave the city. She had not only saved herself with that move, but she had also made sure that she left Ryan with lingering feelings for her, ( even if those emotions had been all negative she’d known that so long as they were there, she could turn them to more positive ones upon he return).
Now with the chances of Ryan’s old goat of a grandfather kicking the bucket soon being very high. She could not just wait around and hope that he made it.
She had to have a backup plan. Another way in which she could get back into Ryan’s life if his grandfather would not be the key that she had been hoping he would be.

If she took a more active role in making the money that she enjoyed spending so much, then she would have a greater chance of constantly meeting up with Ryan.
After all, her father did a lot of business with him. All that Gwendolyn would have to do would be to take over those contracts and it would be the perfect way to make sure that Ryan was constantly exposed to her. But as great as that idea would be, it would also mean a lot of hard work and that just was not Gwendolyn’s style.
The only time she ever truly applied herself was when it came to making sure that she looked really, really good. Or if she was gearing herself up to destroy someone.
Other than that, she saw no reason to put too much effort into anything. If she actually worked like regular people did, she would be full of wrinkles and she would actually have something as distasteful as grey hair. There was no way she was doing that, not even for a chance at Ryan Terrell.
With doing actual work off the table, Gwendolyn considered something that might be more fun.
If she were to get Ryan drunk, she could make sure they got married. Or maybe if she would even go as far as to make sure that the two of them had sex while he was under the influence. To seal the deal she would be sure to fall pregnant. There was nothing quite like a good baby trap.
But as appetizing as that idea was, Gwendolyn quickly scrapped it, but not for the regular reasons. Most people would not have even considered it because of the whole consent thing. But for Gwendolyn that was not an issue. As long as she was consenting, she did not care about anybody else’s feelings.
What made her not want to go through with the baby trap was the fact that pregnancy would ruin her precious body. Just the thought of her stomach being the size of a beach ball and stretch marks all over her tummy made her feel as though she was about to be sick.
No, she absolutely could not go through with such a horrid plan.
She was in the middle of considering hiring some goons to kidnap Ryan so that she could keep him locked away until he agreed to marry her when she was interrupted by her phone ringing.
The glare that she directed at the device quickly vanished when she saw who was calling her.
Soon to be hubby, the call ID said, why was Ryan calling her? Could it be that his grandfather had already passed? Was this a funeral invite?
***
As it turned out, it was not a funeral invite, which meant that Langston Terrell was still alive. That was good news for Gwendolyn.
It meant she could keep her alternative plans as just ideas for the moment.
But since Langston Terrell was still alive, the reason for the invite was a mystery to Gwendolyn.
When she tried to push Ryan for answers, he had gone tight lipped. All that he’d said was that the two of them needed to meet in person in order to discuss something important.
What could it possibly be?
And why had he insisted that she meet him at the hospital instead of him taking her someplace classy where she could show all of the lesser beings, just how much more perfect than them she was.
Deciding that it did not matter where they were meeting, just so long as she got to see Ryan, Gwendolyn went to pick out an outfit.
She wanted to look gorgeous, just for him.
