That day, Ye Wanwan received a message from Ye Shiying about an incident where Ye Mingrui stopped her car in the middle of the night to ask for money.

Ye Wanwan was speechless. What did this have to do with Ye Shiying? Why did someone who was totally irrelevant need to come and apologize?

They also saw Ye Wanwan. Bai Xiuzhu didn’t bother to hide her contempt as she rolled her eyes, not even deigning to greet Ye Wanwan.

On the other hand, Ye Shiying gave Ye Wanwan a smile filled with an apology.

Ye Wanwan merely nodded slightly in acknowledgment, a form of greeting, then no longer paid any attention to them.

It wasn’t until the charity dinner was about to begin that Ye Wanwan wanted to visit the restroom, so she excused herself from Lin Xu and headed that way.

No sooner had Ye Wanwan turned the corner when she saw Ye Shiying coming out of the restroom. The two exchanged glances, and Ye Shiying quickly lowered her head and dodged aside.

Despite being some distance apart, Ye Wanwan hadn’t noticed anything amiss about Ye Shiying. Rather, it was her sudden evasion that seemed odd.

But Ye Wanwan didn’t intend to pry into things. If Ye Shiying did not initiate a greeting, Ye Wanwan certainly wasn’t going to start a conversation.

Ye Wanwan stepped forward and continued directly toward the restroom, until she passed by Ye Shiying.

Initially not intending to greet her, because Ye Shiying knew that Ye Wanwan disliked her, she couldn’t help but call out to Ye Wanwan after she walked past.

Ye Wanwan stopped and turned to look at Ye Shiying, only then noticing that Ye Shiying’s eyes were red as if she had just been crying.

"Cousin, is there something you need?" Ye Wanwan pretended not to see Ye Shiying’s red eyes and asked indifferently.

Ye Shiying sniffled, a crying tone still in her voice, "The day Ye Mingrui went to ask you for money, it was because he owed a huge sum of money out there."

"He initially asked me for it, but I couldn’t come up with that much. I guess he didn’t get it from Mom either, so he went to find you."

Ye Wanwan frowned slightly, "Cousin, why are you telling me this?"

No matter what Ye Mingrui had done, that was their family’s business. Why was she being told about it?

Ignorning the question, Ye Shiying continued, "Ye Mingrui has racked up a lot of debt from usurers. All together, it amounts to as much as fifty million!"
