Chapter 182: Chapter 182 - Escape

The man’s voice carried across the field.

Roxie’s eyes widened.

Zac stayed completely still beneath her.

Another gate rattled.

"The stadium is closed," the man shouted. "If somebody’s in here, get out now."

"Security," Roxie whispered.

"No shit."

She slapped one hand over his mouth.

Zac’s shoulders shook beneath her.

"Why are you laughing?" she whispered.

His voice came muffled against her palm. "You broke us into the stadium."

"You followed me."

"You seduced me under the bleachers."

Her face burned. "Put me down."

Zac lowered her carefully, but her legs had gone weak. Her shoes touched the dirt and her knees immediately folded.

He caught her around the waist before she hit the support pole.

Roxie buried her face against his chest to stop herself from laughing.

"This is your fault," she whispered.

"My fault?"

"You distracted me."

"You dragged me under here."

The security guard’s footsteps grew louder.

A flashlight beam moved through the gaps between the bleachers.

Roxie stopped laughing.

"Oh God."

Zac pulled her deeper into the shadows and pressed one finger against his lips.

She glared at him while fixing her clothes.

Her sports bra was still pushed above her breasts.

She yanked it down, wincing when the fabric dragged across her wet, sensitive nipples. Then she pulled her shirt and hoodie into place.

Zac watched her hands.

Roxie noticed.

"Stop looking."

"I’m trying to remember this in case we get arrested."

She shoved his shoulder.

The flashlight moved closer.

"Anyone under there?" the guard called.

Roxie and Zac looked at each other.

Zac’s face was flushed. His lips were wet and swollen. A large bulge still strained against the front of his sweatpants.

Roxie pointed at it.

"You need to fix that."

Zac looked down. "I’m aware. The best fix stopped."

"You cannot run through the stadium like that."

"I can’t make it disappear because security asked nicely."

The laugh escaped her before she could hold it back.

It came out as a small snort.

The footsteps stopped.

Zac covered her mouth.

Roxie’s eyes went wide above his hand.

"Hey!" the guard shouted. "Who’s under there?"

Zac leaned close to her ear. "We need to run."

She nodded against his palm.

He released her mouth and adjusted himself quickly, wincing as he pulled the front of his hoodie lower.

The flashlight beam swept beneath the nearest row.

Zac caught Roxie’s hand.

"Three," he whispered.

"What happens at three?"

"We run."

"Where?"

"Your adventurous afternoon. You decide."

The light moved across another support pole.

"One."

"Zac."

"Two."

"This is a terrible plan."

"Three."

They ran.

Roxie ducked around the support pole and sprinted toward the far opening beneath the bleachers. Zac stayed directly behind her, one hand briefly touching her back when she slipped on the damp dirt.

"There!" the guard shouted. "Stop!"

That only made Roxie run faster.

She burst from beneath the bleachers into the cold afternoon light.

Her legs still felt shaky from what Zac had been doing to her, and every stride made her breasts bounce painfully against the sports bra.

"Fuck," she gasped.

Zac caught up beside her. "You okay?"

"My nipples hurt."

He looked at her, his lips curving.

"Keep running," she snapped.

His laugh followed them across the track.

The security guard appeared at the other end of the bleachers, waving one arm.

"Get back here!"

Roxie and Zac reached the field.

She glanced toward the service gate they had entered through. The guard stood too close to it.

"Other side," Zac said.

"There’s another gate?"

"I hope so."

"You hope?"

"You wanted an adventure."

They ran across the turf.

Roxie started laughing again.

She could not stop.

The whole thing was ridiculous. Her hair was a mess. Her lips felt swollen. Her panties were soaked, her nipples still throbbed from Zac’s mouth, and a security guard was chasing them out of the football stadium during winter break.

Zac looked over at her while they ran.

He started laughing too.

"You’re insane," he said.

"You came with me."

"I’m in love. It affects judgment."

"That’s your excuse for everything."

"It keeps working."

They crossed midfield.

Roxie’s lungs burned, but the panic had become something bright and reckless. She ran harder, pulling ahead for several seconds.

Zac let her.

"Still slow, Prescott," she called.

"You can barely walk."

"Still winning."

He caught the back of her hoodie before she reached the far sideline.

Roxie shrieked as he pulled her against him.

"What are you doing?" she asked, laughing and breathless.

"There’s no gate."

She looked ahead.

The fence stretched from one end of the stadium to the other.

"No gate?"

"No gate."

Behind them, the guard shouted again.

Zac scanned the fence.

"There."

A section near the equipment shed had separated from the ground, leaving a narrow space beneath it.

Roxie stared. "You expect me to crawl under that?"

"You want to explain why you were under the bleachers?"

She dropped to her knees immediately.

Zac lifted the bottom of the fence while Roxie flattened herself against the grass and crawled beneath it. Her jacket caught on a piece of wire.

"I’m stuck."

"Hold still."

Zac crouched and pulled the fabric free.

The guard’s footsteps reached the sideline.

"Hurry up," Roxie whispered.

She scrambled through and rolled onto the grass outside the stadium.

Zac pushed his broad shoulders beneath the gap next.

Roxie grabbed both his hands and pulled.

His hoodie caught briefly.

"This is deeply unattractive," he grunted.

"You’re doing great, babe."

"Your support means everything."

She pulled harder.

Zac slipped through suddenly and landed partly on top of her.

They stared at each other for half a second.

Then both of them started laughing again.

"Move," Roxie said, pushing at his chest. "He can still see us."

Zac stood and pulled her up.

The guard reached the fence.

"You two!" he shouted. "Stay out of the stadium!"

"Sorry!" Zac called.

Roxie stared at him. "Why are you answering?"

"I like him."

They ran toward the cemetery path before the security guard could ask their names.

By the time they reached the trees, Roxie’s side hurt from running and laughing. She slowed to a walk, gripping Zac’s arm while trying to catch her breath.

Zac bent forward with both hands on his knees.

"That," he said between breaths, "was a terrible idea."

Roxie pushed loose hair away from her face. "You enjoyed yourself."

Zac straightened.

His eyes moved over her slowly.

"I was enjoying myself before security interrupted."

Heat rushed through her again.

Roxie looked away. "You were about to come in your pants."

"You seemed very interested in making that happen."

"I was curious."

"You were grinding against me like your life depended on it."

Her face burned hotter. "Keep talking and I’ll leave you here."

Zac stepped closer.

His hands settled on her hips, but he kept the touch light.

"You okay?" he asked.

The teasing had softened.

Roxie felt the ache between her legs and the sensitivity beneath her hoodie. Her body still felt unfinished, but she was smiling so hard her cheeks hurt.

"Yeah."

"You sure?"

She nodded. "I’m really good."

Zac leaned down and kissed her.

The kiss stayed brief and warm.

Roxie pulled back before it could become anything else.

"No."

Zac sighed. "Cruel again."

"We just got chased out of the stadium."

"And?"

"And you need time to calm down."

He glanced down at himself. "It’s trying."

Roxie started laughing again.

Zac wrapped one arm around her shoulders and pulled her against his side.

They followed the cemetery path toward the gas station, still breathless, dirty, and unable to stop smiling.

Behind them, the security guard slammed the stadium gate shut.
