Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Reconciliation
After taking down the Divine Tree Leaves from the high platform, everyone hurriedly left the Holy Land and headed for the nearest Bain City.
As they stepped out from the Earth Core where the Divine Tree grew, a brisk wind greeted them head-on. Wen Shu shivered from the cold, and upon looking up, there was a broad figure ahead.
Mious took off his long robe and wrapped her tightly, saying to Wu Xuan, "The weather is still a bit cold. Let’s turn into beast form and get back quickly, so Ashu doesn’t freeze."
Indeed, even though the Beast God halted the snow, the originally accumulated snow still stubbornly clung to the ground and tree branches, only melting slightly under the direct sunlight.
Wen Shu looked around and saw the ground strewn with the corpses of Sea Clan Beastmen, her mind flashing to Sai Yin who had fallen into slumber at the Earth Core.
But before she could think further, Luo Fei had taken her into his arms, jumping onto the Black Panther’s back, heading towards Bain City in the golden sunlight.
The city gate was bustling with people, filled with migration teams feeling grateful for surviving the catastrophe on their return journey.
In this lively atmosphere, Wen Shu and the others queued until dusk before finally entering Bain City.
Upon reaching the newly rented room, Wen Shu couldn’t wait, dashing onto the soft big bed.
The heavy mountain on her heart was finally lifted as she embraced the bedding tightly, letting out a long breath, only to feel her tense cells relax significantly.
She hadn’t lain there long when fatigue made her eyelids battle.
But she dared not fall asleep, so after resting for a while, she forced herself to get up, as Bain City was still somewhat dangerous.
They had followed the Queen to Bain City before, and the guard at the gate had immediately recognized them.
If the Queen issued a bounty, they would be done for!
The males were all downstairs, saying they wanted to prepare a good meal to nourish her body.
But they were still worried that her superpower hadn’t recovered, fearing she might encounter danger alone, so they left Wu Xuan.
Thinking they should leave quickly, and still needing to discuss with them where to go, Wen Shu, limp as a noodle, wrapped her arm around Wu Xuan’s hard waist, "Let’s go downstairs, I have something to discuss with them."
Still haunted by her three-day coma, Wu Xuan instinctively wanted to refuse, but a warm body clung to his chest tightly.
"We have to leave here quickly. I always feel like Queen Niss will find us..."
Afraid she would fall, Wu Xuan suppressed his suddenly speeding heartbeat, settling her in his arms, and before realizing it, he had already obediently walked into the dining room.
Beside the long white porcelain table, the males were fiddling with food.
Seeing them coming, Luo Fei skewered a piece of roast meat, crispy outside and tender inside, and in a few steps offered it to Wen Shu’s lips, "Try it and see if you like it."
Luo Fei didn’t often cook, but he was good at knowing people’s tastes.
Obeying, Wen Shu took a bite, her eyes flashing with amazement, and seeing the anticipated reaction, Luo Fei raised an eyebrow, pulling her to sit at the dining table, and loaded a full plate.
"If you like it, eat more..."
With him starting, Nan and Miu Xier also came over, yet there was no sight of Yining.
Noticing her thoughts, Nan’s fingertip brushed her lip corner, softly explaining, "He went to the Holy Temple to report and seek Crystal Coins, as it’s not safe here..."
Aligning with his thoughts, Wen Shu affirmed with a nod, "That’s right, we must leave quickly, preferably today."
Saying this, Wen Shu had no idea where to go.
Nan ladled a bowl of soup into her palm, the remnants of warmth holding her hand gently as he whispered, "I’ll go buy a map of the Yisha Empire, see if there’s a place you like, and we’ll go there."
His fingertip had a thin layer of callus, which tickled Wen Shu a bit, making her retreat a finger’s distance, and then heard Nan say, "Don’t worry about Queen Niss, if worst comes to worst..."
With gentle eyes, he spoke casually, causing a mind-freezing statement, "I can handle them."
Wen Shu almost choked on her food, hurriedly pressing Nan’s hand, "Cough cough cough, no need, we’ll choose a small city together tonight..."
After filling her stomach, Mious accompanied her back to the room.
There was still some silence between them, yet not as if a wall had stood between them before.
Wen Shu leaned against the head of the bed, while Mious leaned against the window sill.
His cold, handsome face gradually hidden in shadow as the sun set, only leaving a pair of eyes, shining like emeralds, quietly gazing at Wen Shu.
Feeling uneasy under his stare, Wen Shu, pondering where to go, lightly bit her lip and looked up at him.
As their gazes met, she furrowed her long brows slightly, asking sternly after a long while, "Mious, will we stay in the Yisha Empire, and will you..."
Hearing her tone, Mious, already tense, stepped closer, covering her soft yet cold lips before she spoke again.
"Ashu, you promised not to push me away anymore."
His eyes trembled, looking into Wen Shu’s clear eyes, feeling a raw sensation blocking his throat, making speech difficult.
"That day, not finding you promptly wasn’t because I wanted to be the City Lord..."
With a trembling low voice, recounting the experience gently, he kept his eyes on Wen Shu.
Seeing her eyes move slightly, showing a hint of struggle, he couldn’t hold back anymore, embracing her tightly.
"Ashu, don’t push me away again."
Hot wetness suddenly dripped down his face, Wen Shu’s expression dazed, gripping Mious’s shoulder weakly, "But that’s what you’ve strived for since childhood..."
Before she finished speaking, the cold hard hand behind her waist pressed slightly, pulling her closer into Mious’s chest, as if intending to merge her into him.
Breathing with moisture brushed against her fragile ear tip.
Wen Shu’s heart tightened, feeling the heavy heartbeat transmitting to her chest, her spread fingers gripping Mious’s shoulder.
"Ashu, there’s a way to have both, I only want to stay by your side, as for Nayong City, I’ll think of another way..."
Feeling her touch, Mious buried his tear-drenched face into her neck, murmuring, "Trust me, okay?"
His hoarse voice, laced with tears, slid into her heart, making Wen Shu shudder.
Her lashes fell, slowing her breath, her hand lightly brushing the nape, resting on her hand-tousled hair, lowly uttering "Hmm."
It was just a brief sound, yet Mious froze.
The next second, he lifted his head to look at Wen Shu, his green eyes shining, "Really?"
His tense heart pumped warmth, and witnessing Wen Shu nodding, his stern face flooded with joy, revealing two shallow dimples at the corner of his pointed lips, "Ashu..."
They had known each other for a long time, Wen Shu had never seen him so happy, nor knew that someone so serious could have dimples.
Hmm...it looked really good.
She paused for seconds, seeing his radiant smile, her lips curling involuntarily.
Their misty eyes flickered during the gaze, inevitably drawing close.
Yet before touching, the door creaked open, Nan walked in with a map, followed by several tall figures.
The sudden commotion startled Wen Shu.
Raising her eyes and meeting Nan’s gaze, her face flushed with heat as she reached to push Mious away, but was pulled into his broad and solid embrace.
Mious, comforting, gently gathered her hair, glanced at the males, and whispered, "No knocking?"
Unlike Wen Shu’s unease, the culprit making her blush, Nan remained calm as if seeing nothing.
He didn’t reply to Mious and instead naturally sat on the bedside, unfolding the map, pulling Wen Shu’s clothes lightly, "Ashu, come see where we should go next..."
