Chapter 627: 626: Little Thing

"Low S grade earth affinity."

The compound became silent for a second.

The eyes of many demons could not help but widen in shock and disbelief as they stared at the demon with a low S grade earth affinity.

For the first time, there was a change in the expression of Korran Veyl as the official made this announcement.

The other officials and guards were also shaken, and everybody’s gaze was on the demon.

Even Simon could not help but look at the demon properly this time around, then he shifted his gaze toward Sonya.

Akaza did the same.

Sonya’s arms were folded, and when she perceived their gaze, she looked at them with a frown.

"What? Do you think this Honourable is going to lose to her?"

For some reason, Simon actually believed that Sonya’s affinity was going to be higher than the demon’s earth affinity.

It was not only because Sonya was a Kragh, but because she and the earth felt like they were one.

He couldn’t properly put it into words.

Simon looked at the demon who had a proud expression on his face after the official announced his affinity grade.

He didn’t seem surprised, which made Simon believe that the demon had already tested his affinity before coming to this place.

There were demons like him who already knew their affinity grade, but many demons have not been able to test their affinity grade because of their backgrounds and inability or lack of desire to join an organization.

Simon glanced at Korran Veyl, and he was not surprised when he saw the Iron Examiner speaking into the ears of one of the officials.

Clearly, he was telling the official to meet with the demon privately, probably in order to recruit him for the city or for something else entirely.

A few seconds later, the heavily built demon stepped away from the central pillar with a satisfied expression.

His chest was slightly raised, and his gaze swept across the compound with undisguised pride.

A low S grade affinity.

Even if it was only low grade, it was still an S grade affinity.

With such an affinity, controlling earth chaos would be far easier for him than most demons. If he was properly trained and given enough resources, his future would definitely be great.

The official continued calling names.

However, after the appearance of the low S grade earth affinity, most of the other results seemed boring.

Low C grade.

High D grade.

Intermediate C grade.

Low B grade.

The demons who received these results would have been happy before, but now, they looked slightly disappointed.

After seeing an S grade affinity, even B grade looked less impressive.

This was how some demons were.

They could be satisfied with a small piece of meat until they saw another demon holding an entire beast.

The test continued for a while, then a female demon with light green skin and short brown hair walked forward when her name was called.

She looked nervous.

From her clothes and expression, Simon could tell that she was not from a large clan or organization.

When she placed her hand on the central pillar, she even closed her eyes tightly as if she was afraid that the pillar would reject her.

A second passed.

Then the wood pillar suddenly lit up.

Deep green light rose from the bottom of the pillar and climbed quickly.

F grade.

E grade.

D grade.

C grade.

B grade.

A grade.

Then it entered the seventh section.

S grade.

One thin rune line lit up.

"Low S grade wood affinity."

The official’s voice paused for a second before he finished his words.

This time, the compound did not become silent.

It exploded.

"What?!"

"Another S grade?!"

"Wood affinity?!"

"Who is she?!"

The female demon opened her eyes in confusion, then she looked at the wood pillar.

When she saw the deep green light on the seventh section, her mouth opened slightly.

"I... I have S grade affinity?"

Her voice was soft, and she looked more shocked than anybody else.

Clearly, she had never tested her affinity grade before.

She did not know that the affinity she had been using all this while was actually an S grade affinity.

Some demons looked at her with envy.

Some looked at her with greed.

Some looked at her like they were already thinking of how to approach her after the test.

Korran Veyl’s expression changed once again.

This time, the change was more obvious.

He stared at the female demon for a few seconds, then looked at the officials beside him.

The officials immediately understood what he meant.

The female demon was also someone they needed to pay attention to.

Two S grade affinities had appeared in one recruitment.

This was already beyond their expectations.

The female demon stepped away from the pillar with a dazed expression, as if she was still unable to understand what had just happened.

The official looked at the beast-skin list again.

For some reason, his expression became slightly strange.

"Honourable Sonya."

The compound became a little quiet.

Some demons looked around in confusion.

"Honourable?"

"What sort of name is that?"

"Is that a name or a title?"

"Probably a title."

"How arrogant."

Sonya’s lips curled slightly, but her eyes were not smiling.

She walked forward slowly.

Her arms were folded, and her expression was not as playful as usual.

Simon looked at her back and raised a brow slightly.

He could tell that Sonya was annoyed, and the reason was obvious.

The tall demon with the low S grade earth affinity.

She was probably annoyed by the fact that he and Akaza doubted that her affinity was lower than his or that he was the center of attention.

If he had a different affinity and was the center of attention, she wouldn’t mind.

But earth affinity?

Not on her watch.

The tall demon was also looking at Sonya with an amused expression. The moment Sonya walked closer to the central pillar, his lips curled into a mocking smile.

"Little thing."

Sonya stopped walking.
