Chapter 478: 478: Unconscious
Lucien could clearly recall how he left the safety of his private box to help Elder Mulon.
He knew that it could be a trap, and that luring him outside his private box could be the main goal of this impostor.
But he sensed no other suspicious demon present in the auction hall and he also had a high level of confidence in himself.
He couldn’t just watch Elder Mulon die because he was afraid.
Besides, if he was able to save Elder Mulon, then both of them would be able to deal with the assassins or attackers.
However, the moment he climbed down the stairs, he was met with a dense fog that appeared out of nowhere.
He could barely see a thing in the fog, but he believed that it would not be a problem for him since he already knew where the impostor and Elder Mulon was.
But to his shock and disbelief, he never reached Elder Mulon and the impostor.
No matter how far he walked or where he walked to, he never made any progress.
And that was when he realized that he was in an illusion.
The dense fog was there to block his vision, and he was probably walking around in circles while stumbling on chairs and other obstacles.
He tried calling out to Elder Mulon.
He shouted so many times, believing that his shout should at least reach the elder’s ears, but that was also a failure.
He could sense the aura of Elder Mulon, but he couldn’t reach him.
It was when he realized that he could no longer perceive the aura of Elder Mulon that he began to fear the worst.
Elder Mulon was dead.
He didn’t want to believe this because from what he perceived, the impostor was just a Fiend.
There was no a way a Fiend could kill a Greater Demon.
To even bypass the passive demonic energy around a Greater Demon’s body was not something a Fiend could do.
He didn’t want to believe that Elder Mulon had died to a Fiend even though he was most likely placed under an illusion.
But the disappearance of the elder’s aura was a clear sign of the elder’s death.
Instead of trying to find a way out of the illusion, Lucien decided to destroy everything.
And that was when he unleashed massive glaciers in the auction hall.
If Elder Mulon was still alive, he would not die from such an attack.
Unfortunately for him... he was too late.
"Who are you?"
Lucien glared at Simon with fury and thick killing intent.
Before Simon could respond, Lucien spoke again through gritted teeth.
"Who are you and who do you work for? What is your aim? What is happening outside?"
Simon tilted his head slightly, then he calmly took a step back and distanced himself from Lucien with three more steps.
"You’re asking a lot of questions, boy."
"Boy? A mere Fiend dares to call me boy?" Lucien frowned.
Simon nonchalantly shrugged.
"You’re a child in my eyes."
The broken black ring in Simon’s eyes glowed and began rotating slowly.
Lucien frowned deeply when he saw this, and he became very wary.
’What is that black ring in his eyes? Why are they rotating?’
’Could it be... an illusion? The reason behind Elder Mulon’s strange actions back then?’
His eyes suddenly flashed with a light of realization, then his head snapped to his right, left, and then to his back.
However, he saw nothing and he became confused.
’What’s going on? I don’t sense anything strange. And he’s still standing right in front of me.’
’Am I just overthinking things?’
"See. A child who just keeps on looking around him for no reason at all."
Simon’s voice brought Lucien from his chaotic stream of thoughts, and the young prodigy looked at Simon with a deep frown.
"You have no intention on telling me who you are and who you work for?" He asked while tightening his grip on his spear.
Simon chuckled while shaking his head slightly.
"You’re going to die soon. Telling you is pointless."
Lucien narrowed his eyes coldly, and his aura began to rise but the temperature of the auction hall began to fall.
Cold mist began to appear in the auction hall, and thin sheets of ice began appearing on the walls.
"Now that I think about it..."
He paused with a thoughtful expression.
Simon raised a brow.
"You mentioned the name Caesar when talking to Elder Mulon."
Simon’s eyes flashed but he remained silent.
"What’s your relationship with that bastard called Caesar?"
Simon remained silent, and Lucien’s lips curled up into a light cold smile.
"I see. I understand now. You were sent by that bastard."
"He told me that I’ll regret taking what’s his even though I obtained it fairly, and now he sends one of his dogs to me."
He scoffed coldly.
"From your expression, I guess I’m right. You’re one of Caesar’s dogs which means you’re from the Shadowgrave Clan."
Simon remained silent despite everything Lucien said.
Lucien did not care. To him, Simon’s silence was proof that he was right.
He changed his stance and pointed his spear at Simon.
"I’ll make sure to leave at least a dozen holes on your body and I’ll make sure you die slowly for killing Elder Mulon."
"You-"
Simon’s voice suddenly cut him off...
"You talk too much for a Frostborn."
... But the problem was that the voice came from behind him.
And in front of him was the Simon he had been talking to.
A second later, the Simon in front of him dissipated into a black fog.
"What the- HMMM!!!"
His nose and mouth was suddenly covered by a white cloth and his hands were held tightly to his body.
Lucien struggled and tried to fight back, but it was all for naught.
To his disbelief, he found out that he was weaker than Simon in terms of physical strength despite being a Half-Step Greater Demon.
And what terrified him again was the realization that the cloth covering his mouth contained a poison.
A sleeping poison to be exact.
Ten seconds later, his spear fell to the ground and his head hung low as he became unconscious.
