Sanemi Shinazugawa's mood was extremely unstable right now.

"Anger won't solve anything, Sanemi. Please try to stay calm. Right now we need to discuss how to handle this demon outbreak together." Kagaya Ubuyashiki's words made Sanemi grit his teeth and fall silent.

"Master, for hundreds of years Muzan has stayed hidden in the shadows. His Twelve Kizuki rarely attacked humans either. Only the weaker, ordinary demons kept growing stronger by eating people, and even that stayed within our control. It looks like Muzan never wanted his existence to become public knowledge."

Shinobu Kocho continued, looking confused. "Something must have happened that pushed Muzan Kibutsuji to the edge. He's desperate to get the blue spider lily, so he's willing to cause multiple terrorist incidents without caring about the consequences. He's trying to force both us and the shogunate to find it for him."

"Pushed to the edge? You think Hantengu's death set him off? That doesn't make sense," Tengen Uzui muttered, deep in thought.

Without anyone realizing it, every pair of eyes in the courtyard had turned toward Ivan.

Obviously, he was the only one who had recently come into direct contact with Muzan. Whatever had happened, he would know best.

Ivan didn't bother hiding anything. His tone stayed calm and even. "If I'm right, he thinks I'm a demon who already ate the blue spider lily. My appearance made him certain the flower actually exists. So right now he's not just threatening you with human lives — he's threatening me too."

"Mr. Ivan, earlier you said you know where the blue spider lily is. Is that true?" Lady Tamayo asked. She didn't want to see any more people die because of Muzan.

"Hm. I do know where it is. But do you really want to hand it over to him?" Ivan's mouth curved into a small, sharp smile.

After getting his ass kicked that badly, Muzan had actually started using his brain for once. How rare.

He was smart enough now to use the bigger picture to pressure Ivan. Unless Ivan was completely heartless like Muzan and didn't give a damn about anyone's life, it was hard not to feel the weight of it. Even now, several people were already wavering about whether they should just give up the flower to stop the madness.

While Lady Tamayo hesitated, more than a dozen Kasugai Crows flew in as a group. They hadn't even landed before they started delivering more bad news.

Thank god demons couldn't move during the day, or the death toll would've been far worse.

"Caw! Master, this is a letter from Lord Tokugawa." One of the black crows lowered its head, untied the bamboo tube from its leg, and handed the rolled-up letter to Kagaya Ubuyashiki.

Kagaya took the letter but didn't open it. He already knew what it said. The shogunate was ordering the Demon Slayer Corps to find and hand over the blue spider lily immediately so the situation could return to normal.

He wasn't surprised. Even though the Ubuyashiki family had a decent relationship with the Tokugawa family, in an emergency like this the shogunate would put its own rule first.

Besides, the Demon Slayer Corps had never been officially recognized by the government anyway.

In their eyes, the Corps was just as unstable as the demons themselves. Once the demons were gone, the Corps would probably be suppressed until it disappeared too.

"Mr. Ivan, please tell us the location of the blue spider lily. I know Muzan. To become a truly perfect being, he's willing to do anything. He wouldn't even hesitate to personally kill every single demon he's ever created."

Lady Tamayo frowned as she spoke.

"So you want to use the blue spider lily to blackmail him into stopping everything and making him kill all the demons he created himself?" Ivan's eyes held a trace of amusement.

"It's the best plan I can think of right now."

At that moment, Obanai Iguro spoke up. "It sounds a bit ridiculous, but I don't believe Muzan is that stupid. Since he already knows we have the blue spider lily, why wouldn't he just keep doing what he's doing now — using ordinary people's lives to threaten us into handing it over?"

"You don't understand Muzan."

Ivan looked at Lady Tamayo. "That bastard's got less courage than a mouse. Calling him a rat that's afraid of breaking the dish it's eating from isn't an exaggeration at all. If we actually had the blue spider lily in our hands, he wouldn't dare make any reckless moves...

"The second we destroy the flower, he gets nothing. But he won't agree to your conditions right away either. The most likely outcome is that the slaughter keeps going until he sees you won't budge. Only then will he start to panic..."

"Deep down he's sure you'll never sit back and do nothing — that you'll hand over the blue spider lily eventually. But he still won't risk it. Even the tiniest chance of something going wrong is too much for him to gamble on."

Lady Tamayo stared at Ivan for a long moment before finally nodding. "You understand him better than I do."

"Are we really just going to stand by and let him keep slaughtering innocent people? Sorry, but I can't do that." Kyojuro Rengoku's voice was still loud and powerful, but the bright, easy smile he usually wore had completely vanished.

He couldn't stomach the thought of something that horrible happening. He'd rather sacrifice himself than let more people die.

"Can I say something?"

Mitsuri Kanroji gathered her courage and spoke up. Her cheeks were already covered in a light pink blush.

"Don't be nervous. Just say whatever's on your mind," Obanai Iguro said, his tone cold but clearly encouraging.

When everyone's eyes turned toward her at once, Mitsuri's blush deepened even more. She clasped her hands under her chin and said shyly, "What if we paint a flower blue and tell him it's the blue spider lily? That way he'll stop the attacks and we can draw him out at the same time."

"Good idea. How come your brain only works this well when it really matters?" Shinobu Kocho reached over and patted Mitsuri's head curiously.

"What do you mean? I've always been smart, okay?"

"Will Muzan actually fall for it? And even if he does, he might not come in person. He could just send one of the Upper Ranks instead," Sanemi Shinazugawa pointed out.

"He'll come himself," Lady Tamayo said firmly.

"He doesn't trust anyone, including the Twelve Kizuki, and we are baiting him with the one thing he has spent his entire life trying to find. So he'll meet us personally.… though he'll probably be disguised as someone else."

"In that case, let's go with Mitsuri's plan. As long as we can end this disaster, I'm willing to pay any price."

A look of firm resolve appeared on Kyojuro Rengoku's face. His golden hair shone brightly under the sunlight.

"Understood. This plan carries a lot of risk. Before we move forward, it would be best if all of you could raise your strength a bit…" Kagaya Ubuyashiki spoke softly, then added, "Mr. Ivan, may I ask — is the pattern on your jaw a scar?"
