Light Mana exploded like a bomb, illuminating the entire area as though the sun had suddenly appeared there.

The spell came to life and continued crashing down onto a creature about three meters tall.

Its body was fat, with elongated arms. At first glance, it looked like some kind of ogre, but the countless hands scattered across its body writhed in a grotesque manner.

Tentacles protruded from different parts of its body as they stretched outward and attacked the trio.

Its eyes were covered by two hands, while a row of teeth forming a smile dripped with black blood.

Slash! Boom!

Rinna created a spell and launched it at incredible speed.

Different types of Light Magic streaked through the air before exploding and destroying a large portion of the monster’s flesh.

Slash!

Meanwhile, Clana seized the opportunity and attacked just as the monster was being bombarded by Rinna’s magic.

Kaaang!

Her sword sliced through one of the Sovereign’s arms.

In its other hand, the Sovereign held a sword nearly three meters long, which swung immediately.

The Sovereign attacked Clana, but just as the strike was about to reach her, someone stepped in front of it.

Clang! Boom!

The force of the collision echoed with a deafening intensity.

The Sovereign whipped the tentacles on its body forward at incredible speed as they wrapped around Adel’s legs.

However, the moment the tentacles tightened around Adel’s legs, a white radiance illuminated the enormous hall.

Slash!

Clana swung her sword again and again. In her vision, imaginary lines slowly began to appear.

She guided the blade of her sword along those lines.

Her body swayed, and her feet moved as though she were performing some kind of dance.

Boom!

Her sword sliced the tentacles into countless pieces. Feeling intense pain, the Sovereign suddenly attacked as though it had gone mad.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

It began smashing everything in its path while swinging its gigantic sword. The pillars, the walls, and the floor started to crack apart.

Hundreds of fissures spread as the ceiling shook and chunks of rubble fell.

Adel and Clana retreated until they reached Rinna.

Meanwhile, the Sovereign continued destroying everything in its path.

Adel stopped beside Rinna and asked,

"Do you have any large-scale magic?"

"Yes, but it’ll take me a minute to finish casting it since it’s Six-Star Magic. Ah, and it’ll completely drain my mana."

Adel thought for a moment before nodding.

"In that case, prepare your spell."

Rinna nodded. Then Adel turned toward Clana.

"The two of us will keep it away from Rinna while attacking it from every angle."

"I understand."

With those words, the two of them moved in and began attacking.

Rinna started casting her spell as several magic circles began forming above the palm of her hand.

After about a minute, Rinna shouted.

Adel and Clana immediately retreated as Rinna’s magic shot toward the Sovereign at tremendous speed.

Kaaang!

A deafening explosion rang out as everything around them was engulfed in a blinding radiance that lasted for several seconds.

When the light finally faded, the place where the Sovereign had been standing was now completely empty.

Almost the entire structure of the ruins had vanished.

At that moment, Rinna collapsed to the ground, utterly exhausted, breathing heavily.

Shortly afterward, Adel handed her a potion to restore her mana.

While Rinna drank the potion, a crack began forming within seconds exactly where the Sovereign had died.

’That concludes today’s exam.’

After leaving the Pocket Gate, I went to Professor Ashly to confirm whether we had been the first to finish the exam.

That confirmed we had earned the highest possible score on this test.

Now only the final exam remained, covering the last few days before returning to the Academy.

And most importantly, Apostle Kaiser should be thawed out in two and a half days.

’William has probably already left for the World Congress, and the commander he left in charge of protecting the Abyss Containment Team will depart tomorrow because something unexpected happened in a distant location.’

I wasn’t sure why the commander had to leave. In any case, there wouldn’t be anyone strong enough to kill a weakened Apostle.

I still didn’t know how powerful Apostle Kaiser would be.

As I walked toward the Tower, I suddenly felt an intense gaze fixed on my back.

I stopped and turned around. A couple of meters away, Clana was walking toward me.

Her eyes were locked onto me, as if they clearly said, "I’m watching you."

I tilted my head and asked, pretending to be confused,

"Is there any reason why Princess Clana has been watching me all these past few days?"

At last, Clana stopped in front of me, only a few inches away.

She looked at me with such intensity that it seemed as though she could see through any illusion.

She pursed her lips and said,

I firmly shook my head.

"No, I don’t have a brother... but I do have a sister."

"You mean the first-year representative, Veronica?"

"No, I meant a blood-related sister."

Clana nodded as her expression changed and she sank into thought.

For some reason, this conversation felt more like an interrogation than a simple answer to my questions.

I silently "looked" at Clana while waiting for her to come out of her thoughts.

A few seconds later, she blinked and asked,

"Then, do you have any cousins, uncles, or any relatives who look just like you?"

I shook my head again.

"No, it’s just my sister and me."

"Mhm, I see. Then..."

She lowered her gaze and took a few steps back. Then she looked me up and down as if she were inspecting my body.

I took a few steps back.

"I feel like you’re looking at me in a very strange way. Could you please stop?"

Clana froze for a second before her expression changed.

"Ahem... S-sorry, I didn’t mean to. It’s just that, honestly, you really resemble someone I know."

"Yeah, you already told me that. So, please stop looking at me like that."

I deliberately exaggerated my tone, as if I had a stalker standing right in front of me.

Clana quickly raised both hands and said,

"N-no, wait. I’m not that kind of person. I really am not."

I gave a slight nod and said,

"No, it’s okay. I completely understand."

"I mean it. I’m not that kind of person."

I nodded several times, trying to convey a "Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone," then turned around and quickly walked away.

From behind me, Clana shouted,

"I said I’m not that kind of person."

I waved goodbye as I entered the Tower and closed the door behind me.

Even then, I could still hear her.

’Let that be a lesson to you, Princess.’

A smile spread across my face.

The next day, as usual, the cadets were called to the main hall.

Various dishes had been served on the table.

The aroma of all that food filled the air.

As I sat down, ready to devour the food in front of me, Clana sat beside me.

I paused and turned my head. She stared at me, so I smiled as if to say, "Don’t worry, I won’t make a scene." The very next second, her expression changed, and she muttered,

"I’ll say it again. I’m not that kind of person."

I shrugged and said,

"I don’t remember saying anything, did I?"

She opened her mouth, then closed it again. I smiled faintly and turned my attention back to the food.

Before long, I finished breakfast with a couple of sandwiches and, of course, a good cup of coffee.

Shortly afterward, I let out a sigh.

’They’ll probably announce the final exam.’

There was no particular reason why the professors would call us together at that hour.

Normally, I would have been with the Field Exploration Squad, doing the usual work.

But this time, they had called us here instead.

While I was lost in thought, Lumina entered the hall and sat on the opposite side of the table, directly across from me.

I raised my head and "looked" at Lumina. She met my gaze for a second, but then quickly looked away.

’Today is the fifth day. There are less than two days left before Apostle Kaiser is thawed out.’

And Lumina and I needed to be close enough to the place where the Apostle would appear.

That place was at the highest point of the mountains.

A short while later, Professor Ashly stepped onto the podium.

But as I observed her emotions, I realized that something had changed.

"There is an important announcement regarding the final exam."

"The exam over the past few days has been changed."
