Chapter 1661: Chapter 842: The Calamity of Guangzhou (Part 2)
These three people are all powerful Magicians among the Damen.
During the day, they were hiding in the warehouse.
The dark-skinned Miss Liang is the leader among them, she slowly raises her hand, just about to give the order to act, when a rapid cry comes from the dark water behind:
"Hold your hand!"
A fishing boat emerges from the darkness of the water, and from under the shadow of the sail, a hunched figure with a cane steps out, an old clan uncle of the Dan Family.
He looks at this group of juniors before him, his cloudy old eyes full of worry.
"Ah Luo, Cha Zai, Brother Zhu..."
The clan uncle’s voice is dry and hoarse, "Back off... though the court’s elite have gone to Nanling, this Guangzhou City... it’s cast in copper and iron!"
"In the city, there are people from the Jade Emperor Sect and the cannon fire from the Divine Machine Camp... We, the Damen, have drifted for generations and have barely found a place to breathe... If you, if we bloodwash Guangzhou, the court is enraged, and in the future, when the power of Thunder descends, we Damen, the whole clan... will probably be slaughtered and fill the sea!"
His voice trembles, speaking of a very cruel reality.
Clan elders also have immense blood feuds in their hearts, his son was captured by the official army, was a "Dan Ding," and worked to death on the construction site of the sea dyke.
But as an elder of the clan, he fears more that the struggling children of the Dan Family will be utterly cut off.
Luolao suddenly turned around, her Conch Ear Dang made a crisp sound.
Her eyes are red, pointing towards Guangzhou City, her voice as if ground by gravel, hoarse and full of grief: "Clan uncle! Back off? If we back off, has the court ever backed off?!"
"My father, just because he accidentally entered the ’Forbidden Sea’ while collecting pearls, was blasted to pieces by the Navy’s artillery boat as a pirate! His bones fed the fish!"
Her fingers are white at the joints, "My brother, was forcibly conscripted at fourteen to the Dragon Boat Race, to please those officials, broke his leg in a whirlpool, and left on the shore to fend for himself, died painfully!"
"And Aunt Three, Ashui... Which one didn’t die under the sword, in the water, or the taxes of the court?!"
Speaking, she is already in tears, "The gold and silver given by Jianmu, what we plundered? We don’t care!"
"We want those dog officials, those things that drink our blood and eat our flesh, we want blood debts to be repaid by blood!"
"Blood debts to be repaid by blood!"
"Blood debts to be repaid by blood!"
Her voice, like a horn, instantly ignited the anger of all the Damen.
Star Guest gripped the curved blade tightly, Pearl Alchemist pressed the Mirage Pill against his chest, eyes without hesitation anymore.
Luolao no longer looked at the painfully closed eyes of the clan uncle, she suddenly grabbed a bloody shell horn from the bow of the ship, using all her strength, blew violently!
"Woo—Woo—!!!"
The sharp, piercing sound of the shell horn, like a call from Hell, instantly tore through the evening silence, penetrated the thin mist, and spread across the river!
As if in response, from the direction of the Lingding Ocean, a dull thunderous roar suddenly sounded!
Boom! Boom boom boom!
Orange-red fireballs exploded on the distant dark horizon!
The rough cannon fire of the Red-haired Ship, like a greedy beast, began to madly tear at the western walls of old Guangzhou City!
Bricks crumbled, smoke rose!
Almost at the sound of the cannon, from White Goose Pond direction, a dozen ghostly green phosphorus fires rose, drifting, like ghostly eyes, rushing straight towards the riverside official buildings and barracks!
Behind the phosphorus fire, a flying dark insect cloud spread, emitting a hair-raising "buzzing" sound!
"Kill the official! Revenge!!!"
The sky-shaking roar exploded at West Hao Mouth!
Hundreds of Dan Family boats shot like arrows, bare-chested men biting blades jumped into the water, Water-dividing Spears gleaming cold, heading straight for the chaotic dock!
The hellish tableau of blood and fire, at the gateway to Lingnan, dramatically unfolded!
"Enemy attack—!"
The shrill warning gong finally sounded but was drowned out by the deafening cannon fire and the cries of battle.
The hastily responding City Defense Camp soldiers just surged up the battlements of the walls, only to be covered by a swarm of Poison Insects, screaming and clutching their ulcerated cheeks as they rolled off the walls.
Several sections of the walls heavily struck by the cannon collapsed with a roar, flames soaring to the sky!
In the chaos, several groups of pirate Ronin, like wolves smelling blood, followed the breaches in the walls and the chaotic Water Gate into the city.
Their target was clear, three in a team, five in a group, brandishing Tachi, they rushed towards the Thirteen Lines and Hao Pan Street, where the wealthy households and shops gathered.
Cut down anyone you see, rob any object you find.
Torches were continually thrown around, turning the bustling streets into Asura’s slaughterhouse.
This group had another objective—ten steam engines that had just been transported to Guangzhou Prefecture. It was known that these items had become sky-high priced on the black market at sea.
"Stop them! Protect the steam engines!"
The garrison commander left behind had bloodshot eyes, resolutely blocking the entrance to the Thirteen Lines warehouse street with less than a hundred personal soldiers.
Firearms fired in unison, turning the few ronin in the front into sieves.
"Hindrance!"
A leader of the Damen, with a cross-shaped scar on his face, "Shark Lord," spat a curse and suddenly grabbed a damp pouch from his waist, shaking it vigorously. A nauseating black liquid splashed toward the line of the official army.
The black liquid touched their skin, emitting a sizzling sound and yellow smoke.
The soldiers screamed, falling and rolling on the ground, their flesh quickly rotting away!
"It’s the Dan Family’s ’Ghost Dang’s pus’! Hold your breath! Disperse!" This commander, with considerable experience, exclaimed in horror, and the formation instantly collapsed.
The pirate ronin laughed strangely, taking the opportunity to break through the gap and slash towards the warehouse’s main gate.
"Get out of the way!" An old voice roared angrily.
It was "Shark Lord" who reversed his blade, chopping down the pirate in front!
His bloodshot eyes glared at the pirate leader.
"Don’t touch the machines! Take the gold and silver, and get out!"
These steam engines were also the target of the Damen, planning to sell them at sea. The resulting silver taels would be enough for everyone to relocate to the South Seas and start anew.
The pirate leader sneered, crossing his blade: "Baka, they’re all ours!"
In the chaos, the two groups clashed at the warehouse entrance, blades crossing, turning into a melee.
In the east of the city, the Crown Prince Mansion had become an isolated island.
The remaining palace guards and experts from the Jade Emperor Sect brought by Zhou Qingyuan relied on the high walls to resist desperately. Outside the walls, a dark mass of rebels wearing red headscarves pressed forward.
These people pushed water-soaked thick planks forward against arrows and firearms.
Some threw dead cats and dogs wrapped in kerosene into the courtyard, causing flames to surge.
"Hold on! The army has received the message and will definitely come to aid!"
Zhou Qingyuan’s Daoist robe was stained with blood, the Peach Wood Sword emitting thunder light, smashing the skull of a Damen magician attempting to climb over the wall.
With a grim look, his gaze swept over the endless torches and shadows outside the wall. He speculated that the opponent intended to use the city’s flames and chaos to stall the main army of the court.
Originally, they only had to guard against small groups of pirates, but unexpectedly, the Red-haired Foreign Fleet, South Sea Sorcerers, and the rebellious Damen all joined in, instantly breaking through Guangzhou Prefecture’s city defense.
This was something unprecedented since the establishment of Great Xuan.
On the Zhujiang River, the cannon fire momentarily ceased.
The red-haired barbarians’ ships did not approach but cunningly stayed at the edge of the cannon range, like vultures, waiting to swoop in for easy pickings once the city fell.
Only the Damen and South Sea Sorcerers’ small boats, carrying endless daredevils, weaved through the blood and fire on the river surface.
A small, thin South Sea Sorcerer, "Snake Lord," stood at the bow, waving a withered claw, sending several dried heads soaked in blood jars shrieking into the air. Their eye sockets burned with green fire, swooping toward the commanding officer on the shore.
The personal soldiers beside the officer raised shields to block, but the heads exploded with a bang, and the foul-smelling pus splattered over the shields, corroding the iron plates!
The officer screamed, clutching his face as he fell.
"Hahaha! Delightful! Delightful!" Snake Lord emitted night owl-like laughter.
These so-called Southern Ocean Evil Path practitioners mostly fled Central Earth when the court controlled the Mystical Sect. Though they could act arrogantly among the natives, they were still homeless wanderers.
Now, coming back to attack Guangzhou City, they naturally felt ecstatic.
His laughter had not yet faded when the muddy river water beside his black awning boat suddenly parted silently, and a shadow as fast as a ghost broke through the water!
The icy blade precisely sliced across Snake Lord’s withered neck!
The shadow did not pause, swiftly reversing the blade to stab through the helmsman sorcerer’s heart, then flipped back into the water, leaving only rapidly expanding ripples.
Guangzhou Prefecture, a place home to crouching tigers and hidden dragons, brought together the Three Religions and Nine Sects.
Yet, it was the many pugilistic world figures in the city that joined this battle...
