Chapter 17: Made A Decision

Arianna sat in the same cafe from a few days ago, sipping her strawberry milkshake which had turned into her favorite now.

She glanced around impatiently, waiting for the 6’5 heartdrop to walk into the cafe as he’d done only a few days ago.

Unfortunately, he didn’t show up.

Arianna didn’t have his contact information so she couldn’t tell him she was waiting for him. But since he always found where she was, she believed he would be walking right and try to convince her to marry him.

Arianna tapped her fingers on the table, waiting for him to walk in but he didn’t.

She checked the time on her phone. It’s already been an hour since she was waiting.

"Where’s he?" She muttered.

She decided to wait for ten more minutes.

Arianna never saw herself waiting for Langford. She’d never come in contact with anyone from that family, except Daemon. And the one time that she truly needed him to come, he didn’t.

Sighing, Arianna placed a tip on her table and stepped out of the cafe.

If he didn’t show up, then she needed to find him herself.

Arianna quickly hailed a cab and went to the Langford company building. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Upon arriving, she saw the glass-falling building.

She’d never been there before and she was sure she wouldn’t be allowed to go in since she didn’t have any scheduled meetings with him.

Sighing, Arianna decided to try.

Inside...

Fredrick threw a red apple in the air before taking a bite out of it.

"Tell me, how did your talk with Arianna go?" He asked.

Daemon had a sour look on his face, the type that made it obvious he didn’t want to be spoken to.

However, Fredrick being Fredrick didn’t bother to read the room.

"She rejected you?"

Daemon’s jaw ticked.

"She didn’t reject me," he snapped, his dark eyes landing coldly on Fredrick who raised his hands in surrender.

"Relax man. I was just saying. You look like someone who got rejected."

Daemon pinned him with a glare. "I hope you choke on your apple."

Fredrick could only laugh.

"But you shouldn’t be surprised that she rejected you." At this point, Daemon could tell that Fredrick repeated the word reject intentionally just to piss him off. "You’re an enemy. Oh let’s say, she thinks you’re an enemy."

"I just need to get her alone another time and try to explain things better to her."

Fredrick nodded in understanding as he took the last bite of the apple. Then he aimed at the trash can like a basketball player about to make a dunk. He threw the apple and it successfully landed in the trash.

"Did you see that?" Fredrick asked, excitement marring his tone.

Daemon could only shake his head disappointedly.

"How are things at the warehouse?" Daemon asked as soon as Fredrick calmed down from the excitement he got from shooting a goal in his trash can as if he’d just won a lottery.

"Everything has been running smoothly," Fredrick replied, his posture shifting while his childish behavior disappeared instantly, seriousness taking over. "We haven’t heard anything from him yet."

Daemon leaned into his seat. "That’s alright. He’ll make his presence known when he wants to. He’ll eventually come out of his cave one day or the other."

Fredrick gave a nod.

They haven’t gotten any attacks lately from their enemies for over two months now, which is a good thing, unless the mastermind behind their attacks was perfectly waiting for the right time to attack.

The silence kept them off their feet, heart unsteady.

Daemon stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"To Arianna. She’s back from New York. I’m sure by now that she’d already told her father about my intentions. So I need to meet up with her and ask her when she’s going to sign the contract."

"You don’t even know if that’s what she wants yet," Fredrick stood up and followed along. But quickly paused when Daemon halted.

"That’s what she wants," he stated.

Fredrick could only sigh as they left the office, took the elevator, and headed to the lobby.

When they stepped out of the building, Daemon suddenly halted again, his eyes narrowing at a familiar lady who looked just like the one he was about to look for.

"Arianna..."

Frederick turned to look at him before he followed his line of vision.

"Hey! That’s your woman," Fredrick announced.

They watched her get out of the cab before she started marching towards the company building.

Leaning closer to Daemon, Fredrick whispered. "Do you think she’s here to see you?"

Daemon ignored Frederick’s question while he watched Arianna walk towards him.

As she got closer, she frowned, recognizing him.

Then she stopped in front of him, acknowledging the other person with a curt nod which he returned before she returned her gaze to Daemon.

"We need to talk."

At a restaurant...

Arianna sat across from Daemon, her eyes on him, calculating, taking in everything that he was doing as if they were going into a document.

"You’re staring again," he reminded her, a slight grin on his lips.

Arianna blinked at him, then she sighed subtly before she reached into her bag and retrieved the document she’d brought along with her.

"I’ve gone through it and came to a decision."

Daemon cocked an eyebrow at the document lying on the table before his gaze returned to her.

"But if I’m going to be getting into a marriage contract with you, then we’ll both be signing the contract that I drafted myself." Arianna’s words were firm as she looked at him, waiting for him to object, to disagree, to pull out his own contract and try to force her to sign his instead.

If he did all of that, then that meant that he had an ulterior motive for all of these.

But Daemon shocked her by complying as he took the contract from the table, a faint smile on his lips.

"Where’s the pen?" He asked, shocking her.
