Chapter 1685: Chapter 1671:
Eighth Space-Time.
Wen Zaao learned from the letter that her father was truly dead, and the murderers of her father were Zhou Ang’s father, Zhou Laowai, and a mysterious person.
The entire day, she locked herself in her room and didn’t come out. No matter how much Chu Ge called, she ignored it.
In the evening, Chu Ge brought the prepared meal to Wen Zaao’s door. He gently knocked and said, "You haven’t eaten all day, come out and have some?"
"..." No response.
Chu Ge sighed slightly, "You always being like this isn’t the way to go."
"..." Leaning against the door frame, Chu Ge faintly heard some rustling from inside. He continued to say, "Even if you’ve confirmed your father’s death, don’t you want to find his remains and let him rest in peace?"
Inside the bedroom, Wen Zaao sat at the head of the bed, her legs bent against it. The room was pitch black. She buried her head in her knees, her expression unclear, but her trembling shoulders showed she was desperately holding back.
Another knock on the door, "Don’t you want revenge for your father?"
The sentence hit her deepest sorrow, tears rolled down her cheeks and disappeared into her neck.
Wen Zaao bit her lip hard, refusing to let herself cry out loud. Though she knew that being sad now was useless, she couldn’t help but want to cry.
Finding her father had always been her wish over the years, but now suddenly, a piece of bad news shattered it, causing her years-long mental pillar to collapse. She felt her world was dark, as if there was no hope.
"I know you’re suffering, but the dead can’t come back to life. If you keep being despondent like this, won’t your father in Heaven also be worried?"
Chu Ge’s voice came again, "And did you forget your father’s last words? Did you forget what he entrusted to you?"
Wen Zaao slowly lifted her head, her father’s words? She remembered, the letter said to find the Time-Space Gate and destroy it!
Yes! Her father still had an unfulfilled wish, she couldn’t stay despondent! Thinking this, Wen Zaao raised her hand and vigorously wiped her tears. She climbed out of bed, but having not eaten all day, her legs had no strength and she fell to the ground.
A muffled sound startled Chu Ge outside the door, he kicked the door open, and in the dim light, saw Wen Zaao lying on the ground.
"Wen Zaao, are you okay?" He hurriedly stepped forward, just as he was about to help her up from the ground, he saw her lift her tear-stained face, "I accidentally fell."
Her voice carried a sobbing tone.
Chu Ge was speechless.
In the dining room, after washing her face, Wen Zaao sat at the table and devoured the food. While eating, she asked curiously, "Did you make this food?"
Chu Ge shook his head, "It’s all takeout, I just heated it up."
Wen Zaao snorted, "I knew you certainly wouldn’t cook!"
Chu Ge glared with a sharp look, "I can’t cook?"
Feeling Chu Ge’s fierce aura, Wen Zaao swallowed nervously, quickly corrected herself, "No, no, I meant this takeout tastes better than what you cook!"
Wasn’t that saying his cooking wasn’t good?
Chu Ge’s expression turned worse.
Wen Zaao almost wanted to slap herself, what was she saying, "Well..."
She coughed lightly, trying to change the topic, "By the way, I want to fulfill my father’s last wish!"
"Your father’s last wish isn’t simple." He had read the letter, and wasn’t surprised by the mystical nature of the Time-Space Gate. In their country, there was once a worldly master, he was called so because he could predict accurately, and his predictions always came true.
But now, from his understanding and knowledge of society, he seemed to realize that the predictions weren’t mysterious but rather because the person already knew the outcomes and must have been from a future space-time.
"Should we tell Zhou Ang about this?"
Chu Ge asked, feeling that Zhou Ang was more reliable than Wen Zaao.
Hearing Zhou Ang’s name, Wen Zaao fell silent. Right now, she didn’t know how to face Zhou Ang, nor how to face the son of her father’s murderer.
Though she knew Zhou Ang was innocent, her father’s death had nothing to do with him, yet she just couldn’t face him.
Seeing her silence, Chu Ge guessed something, sighed, and said, "Since you can’t face it, then don’t face it for now."
He paused and added, "We’ve already figured out Wuling Mountain’s exact location, so we should start preparing to go to Wuling Mountain."
Wen Zaao replied "Oh," "I’ll check later what we need to prepare."
As soon as she finished speaking, a piece of paper floated in front of her. Wen Zaao asked curiously, "What is this?"
"These are the things I researched that need preparing."
Wen Zaao took it, saw the strange list of items, and asked more curiously, "What is this? Why do we need medicine?"
Chu Ge leaned back in his chair, his demeanor lazy, posture relaxed, "Because the area around Wuling Mountain is shrouded in a miasma, if you want to get there, you have to pass through it."
His dark eyes flashed with a bit of question, he glanced at Wen Zaao and said, "With your small frame, if you don’t prepare some medicine beforehand, do you think you can make it through the miasma zone?"
Wen Zaao’s lip twitched, "How much would it cost to prepare everything on this list?"
This would be a considerable expense. Since Chu Ge came to her house, expenses had doubled, especially since he’s a big man, with even more expenses than hers, her meager income couldn’t possibly cover it.
Seeing Wen Zaao’s worried expression, Chu Ge helplessly shook his head. After a moment, he picked up a black bag nearby. Though small, it was bulging, filled with unknown items.
He pushed the black bag in front of Wen Zaao.
Wen Zaao asked puzzled, "What’s this?"
"Open it and you’ll find out."
Wen Zaao pursed her lips, playing coy.
She put down her chopsticks, pulled out a napkin to wipe her mouth, then picked up the bag, "This bag is quite heavy."
When she unzipped it and saw the contents, she was utterly shocked.
Inside were stacks of big red banknotes, all totaling at least a hundred thousand.
Wen Zaao looked up sharply at him, "Where did you get this money from?"
Chu Ge shrugged indifferently, "I found that here, like in our place, there are pawnshops. I pawned some items to get this money."
Wen Zaao was more shocked, her heart also hung in suspense.
This guy, wouldn’t have pawned the gold medal, would he?
