Chapter 1662: Chapter 1648
Only then did Luo Qi notice there was still another person standing in the main hall. He took a look at Ye Liang and hurriedly nodded. "Mr. Chu’s friends are our friends. The Beggar Gang welcomes you at any time. You can stay here as long as you like, you’re always welcome."
Everything he said was absent-minded; right now Feng Luo was still shut up in her room by herself, how could he have the mood to worry about anything else like where people were staying.
Luo Jiu turned his head and said to the little beggar standing by waiting for instructions, "Go prepare a room for this young lady. Remember, she’s Mr. Chu’s friend, we absolutely must not treat her poorly."
"Yes!"
After giving his orders, he stepped forward and said apologetically to Ye Liang, "Young lady, we have neglected you. I truly am very sorry."
Ye Liang smiled faintly. "It’s fine. I came over all of a sudden, it’s I who have been presumptuous."
Her eyes were sharp; with one glance she could tell that if she stayed here she’d only be in the way. She slightly lowered her gaze, hiding the starlight in her eyes. "Since you still have things to take care of, I won’t disturb you. After such a long journey I’m a bit tired and would like to go rest for a while."
"Alright, alright, I’ll have someone take you there right away."
Luo Jiu hurriedly sent someone over to lead Ye Liang to a room to rest.
Chu Ge looked at Ye Liang and asked in a worried tone, "You go rest for a bit first, I’ll go check on Miss Feng Luo."
Ye Liang nodded. She was very curious what sort of person this Miss Feng Luo in his mouth was, but right now she couldn’t show too much.
Otherwise Chu Ge would start suspecting things. "You all get busy, I’ll go rest."
Ye Liang was just about to leave with a little beggar when she suddenly saw Little Shunzi hurrying back from outside. Today Little Shunzi had to rendezvous with Ye Liang, so he hadn’t gone with Chu Ge.
But coming back he unexpectedly ran into Ye Liang in the Old Mansion. This caught Little Shunzi off guard for a moment. He stared blankly at Ye Liang, hesitating over whether to speak, when he suddenly received a warning look from Ye Liang. He understood at once that Chu Ge was still present, and his gaze obviously dodged a little.
Ye Liang didn’t say anything and just walked right past him.
After she left, Luo Qi and Luo Jiu circled back around Chu Ge. They looked at him curiously and pressed, "Mr. Chu, just now you said you were the one who bullied Feng Luo. What on earth is going on?"
"Yeah, usually what I see most is Feng Luo bullying you. How come it’s the other way around today?"
Luo Jiu asked in puzzlement, then suddenly thought of something. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at Chu Ge. "Mr. Chu, don’t tell me that because you’re about to go back, you wanted to get back at her for all that pent-up anger from being bullied before?"
Chu Ge’s lips twitched, but before he could speak, Little Shunzi behind him took the initiative, stepping forward to defend him. "Elder Luo, that’s going a bit too far. Our Mr. Chu is not that kind of person."
Luo Qi also stood to the side and nodded thoughtfully. He believed his own judgment of people wouldn’t be wrong; Chu Ge was not someone who repays kindness with enmity. Back when Feng Luo bullied him, he hadn’t said anything—he’d be even less likely to drag up old scores later.
Chu Ge gave a light cough and wasn’t at all angered or embarrassed by Luo Jiu’s words. "It’s not what you think. I asked her a question, and that’s what made her like this. I just didn’t expect that this question would have such a big impact on her."
"A question?" Luo Qi froze. "What question?"
What kind of question could make the big-hearted Feng Luo so angry and upset?
"It was just..." Chu Ge glanced at them, a bit embarrassed, and said, "I just asked her if, if there was a way to go back, whether she would go back with me."
Luo Qi and Luo Jiu stared at each other, at a loss for words for the moment.
They had only ever thought about the fact that Feng Luo was the Vermilion Bird Star, and had forgotten this more practical question.
Seeing the two of them fall silent, Chu Ge said apologetically, "I’m really sorry. Originally something like this should have been brought up by you to her, but I couldn’t hold it in and just asked directly."
Luo Qi gave a bitter little smile. "It’s alright, Mr. Chu. Actually you’re right to ask. No matter who among us asked it, this question was bound to come up and need solving sooner or later. Now that it’s been spoken aloud, it’s not a bad thing to start thinking early about how to solve it."
"But would Feng Luo really get that mad just because of this?" Luo Jiu was even more puzzled.
He looked at Luo Qi in confusion, as if waiting for him to speak up with a solution.
Luo Qi gently shook his head. "Looks like Feng Luo isn’t angry, but that this question is a bit heavy for her."
If she were truly angry, Feng Luo would definitely have vented it, not shut herself up in a room like this, stewing alone.
"So what do we do? We can’t just let things go on like this."
"What can we do? With something like this, we can only wait for Feng Luo to figure it out herself and come out of the room. Are you suggesting you and I barge in there and tie her up and drag her out?"
Luo Qi glared at Luo Jiu. "Enough. She’ll figure it out slowly on her own. She’s not some three-year-old child—once she’s thought it through, she’ll come out by herself."
Luo Jiu stood there, sullen and silent. There really wasn’t any better way right now; this was all they could do.
"Alright then."
Seeing that the two elders had nothing more to say, Chu Ge secretly let out a breath of relief. "Oh right, where’s the Old Gang Leader? I haven’t seen him today."
He still wanted to ask the Old Gang Leader about the location of the Time-Space Gate.
"The Old Gang Leader went out. He hasn’t returned yet."
Luo Qi said, then suddenly thought of something and looked at Chu Ge apologetically. "Mr. Chu, your friend just arrived and Luo Jiu and I were both preoccupied worrying about Feng Luo, so we didn’t take proper care of you. Please forgive us."
Chu Ge smiled and shook his head. "It’s fine. This whole thing happened too suddenly anyway. I was too impulsive."
Little Shunzi, off to the side, had no idea what had happened. He was completely in the dark, wanting to ask but, with a guilty conscience like a thief, he felt a bit guilty about any words he might say.
He sniffed, then carefully stepped forward to ask, "Mr. Chu, was that person who just went out your friend?"
Chu Ge grunted an acknowledgment.
"Judging by her clothes she doesn’t look like she’s from a poor family, right?" Little Shunzi said, pretending to tease.
"She’s the legitimate daughter of the Marquis Ye Mansion."
Chu Ge answered truthfully. That wasn’t a lie. Even though Ye Liang was currently occupying the original owner’s body, the original owner was indeed the legitimate daughter.
When they heard this, Luo Qi and Luo Jiu instantly felt their heads swell. The Marquis Ye Mansion was in cahoots with Prince He Shuo.
But very quickly, Luo Qi realized another problem. "I heard the legitimate daughter of the Marquis Ye Mansion is a fool, isn’t she? But that young lady just now looked perfectly normal."
Although Shuo State wasn’t far from the Marquis Ye Mansion, it still took two days’ travel. What’s more, the legitimate daughter’s sudden recovery from her illness was hardly a good thing for most people in the Marquis Ye Mansion, so the news not spreading out was quite normal.
