Chapter 426: Chapter 426: I never want to take this for granted

They didn’t make love again. Instead, they just existed together...touching, kissing, holding, connecting in ways that weren’t sexual but were deeply intimate.

Damian’s hand found her face, and he simply looked at her, his eyes communicating everything his words couldn’t.

Damon kissed her shoulder, her collarbone, her neck...soft kisses that communicated devotion without demanding intensity.

Silas held her hand, their fingers laced together, his thumb stroking gently across her palm.

This was the foundation of their relationship. Not the claiming or the passion, but these quiet moments of connection. These times when they could just be together without any agenda except proximity.

"I never want to take this for granted," Eve said softly. "These moments. These quiet mornings with all of you."

"We won’t let you," Silas said. "We’ll fight for moments like this even when the world gets complicated."

"Even when being Queen and Luna demands everything from you," Damian added.

"Even when the Court and the pack need your attention," Damon finished.

Eve felt tears prick her eyes at their certainty, at their commitment to protecting these quiet moments.

By the time they had to get up and prepare for the day, Eve felt grounded in a way she hadn’t before.

She showered while Damian handled pack communications, letting people know she’d be in the main office by mid-morning. She dressed up and went to find Dmien.

"Council meeting at ten," Damian said, handing her coffee. "Pack Luna duties at two. Court communication call at four."

"Nothing too demanding," Damon added. "We made sure to clear your schedule for less intensive days this week."

"Why?" Eve asked, though she suspected she knew the answer.

"Because you need recovery time," Silas said simply. "After last night, your body and soul need time to integrate what happened. Pushing yourself too hard would be counterproductive."

Eve accepted the coffee gratefully and settled into one of the comfortable chairs in the office.

"You three have really thought about this," she said.

"Of course we have," Damian said, settling beside her. "We think about everything that affects you. Your health, your wellbeing, your ability to function as Queen and Luna. it all matters to us."

The morning proceeded with the kind of ordinary rhythm that had become familiar over months of living together.

Brynn appeared at ten for the Council meeting, and Eve was struck by how normal it felt to discuss pack business with her three mates present. They didn’t interfere or try to make decisions for her, but their presence was grounding. Their support was clear.

When Brynn mentioned a territorial dispute between two pack families, it was Damon who’d already researched mediation techniques and had some suggestions. Not dictating, just offering support.

When a new pack member application came up, it was Silas who’d quietly vetted the applicant and could provide relevant information without Eve having to ask.

When a training facility needed expansion, it was Damian who’d already begun consulting with architects to understand the options.

They were a team. All four of them working together toward the same goal, ensuring the pack thrived and Eve had support in her responsibilities.

"I don’t know what I’d do without you three," Eve said as Brynn was leaving.

"You’d manage fine," Brynn said with a knowing smile. "But I’m glad you don’t have to. They’re good mates. The pack respects them as much as they respect you."

After Brynn left, Eve found herself wanting to just be around her mates without doing anything specific. No sex, no claiming, just... being together.

So they sat together in the comfortable sitting room, and Silas read aloud from a book while Damian sketched something in his notebook and Damon played with Eve’s hair, braiding it loosely then undoing it, just needing the tactile connection.

This was what she’d been missing in her life before them. This kind of presence. This kind of unconditional support without expectation of anything except reciprocal love.

By afternoon, when Eve had to attend to her Luna duties, she felt completely grounded.

She met with pack members who had concerns or questions. She reviewed training progress reports. She approved new housing applications.

And the entire time, she could feel her three mates’ presence through the mate bonds. Could feel their support, their presence, their absolute certainty in her capability.

When she had to make a difficult decision about a conflict between two pack families, she could feel their confidence flowing through the bond, not influencing her decision, but supporting whatever she chose.

When she had to deliver news to a family who wasn’t getting approved for expanded housing due to space constraints, she could feel their empathy through the bond, could feel them understanding her difficulty with the decision, could feel them supporting her anyway.

By the time her Luna duties were complete, Eve felt more integrated than she ever had.

The Court communication communication at four went smoothly. Raphael updated her on the ongoing investigation into the conspiracy, assured her that Corvus was secure in Court custody, and reported that the reform was moving forward without additional resistance.

"The old guard has learned their lesson," Raphael said with satisfaction. "Trying to destabilize you directly didn’t work, and they’re not going to try it again in the near future."

After the call ended, Eve found herself exhausted but satisfied.

She’d accomplished her responsibilities. She’d maintained her duties as both Queen and Luna. And she’d done it all while being supported by three men who loved her completely.

Three months after the Seraphim Court conspiracy was exposed, the pack was thriving in ways Eve hadn’t anticipated when she’d first implemented the reform.

She stood in the newly expanded training facility, watching as pack members of all ages trained together...no harsh hierarchy, no fear-based command structure, just experienced wolves helping younger wolves develop their skills.

The difference was visible in everything.

Where there had once been tension and resentment, there was now collaboration. Where there had been strict divisions between rank levels, there was now mentorship and knowledge-sharing. Where fear had driven compliance, now genuine buy-in drove participation.
