Chapter 418: Chapter 418: These documents are fabricated
"Then we have a bigger problem," Damian said honestly. "Because it means the system itself is broken. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. Not with the evidence you have. Not with the legal foundation Raphael’s built. Not with how clearly the fabrication will be demonstrated."
Damon and Silas joined them on the balcony, and for a long moment, all four of them just stood there, looking out over the Court, feeling the weight of what tomorrow would bring.
"I was thinking," Silas said quietly, "about something you said weeks ago. About how you never wanted to just be Queen, you wanted to be worthy of being Queen. To earn it through action, not just bloodline."
Eve turned to look at him. "What about it?"
"Tomorrow you prove you’re worthy," Silas said. "Not through power or claiming the throne, but through integrity. Through uncovering a conspiracy against you and choosing to expose it through legal and honest means rather than just crushing whoever’s behind it."
"That’s good leadership," Damon added. "That’s what makes people actually respect authority instead of just fear it."
Eve felt something settle inside her at their words. This was what she’d been fighting for, not just to keep her throne, but to prove that a different kind of leadership was possible. That truth and integrity could matter as much as power.
"Thank you," she said to all three of them. "For everything. For believing in this, in me, in the reform even when it would have been easier to just let the old system continue."
"Always," all three said in unison, their voices carrying absolute certainty.

The formal Council hearing was scheduled for mid-morning.
The Council chamber filled completely this time, all five factions represented, observers from every major faction group, the energy of the room building as word had spread that something significant was about to happen.
Elder Meridian opened the hearing formally, restating the terms of the challenge and announcing that the Fae territorial archives had completed their verification of Lysander’s claimed lineage.
"The results of that verification," Elder Meridian said, her expression grave, "are troubling. The Fae territorial leadership has informed me that Lysander Thornwood’s claimed lineage cannot be verified through any authentic documentation. In fact, they’ve expressed serious doubt about the legitimacy of the bloodline as presented."
Corvus’s expression shifted, genuine shock replacing the careful control he’d maintained.
"Furthermore," Elder Meridian continued, "they’ve requested access to the genealogical documentation Lysander presented to this Council so they may investigate potential fraud."
The chamber erupted in noise.
"Your Majesty," Elder Meridian said, turning to Eve, "you requested this verification. Do you have additional evidence to present regarding the legitimacy of this claim?"
"I do," Eve said, standing calmly. "And with permission, I’d like to present it now."
"Proceed," Elder Meridian said.
Elena stood and presented her genealogical analysis...detailed, technical, completely damning. She showed the ink composition inconsistencies, the paper dating that proved the documents were modern fabrications, the handwriting analysis that demonstrated they’d been carefully copied but not authentically produced.
The chamber was silent as she spoke, the weight of the evidence becoming impossible to ignore.
Then Raphael presented the letter, the one from Aldric to Lysander, with detailed instructions on how to present the false claim, when to file it, what legal arguments to use.
"This letter," Raphael said, his voice carrying absolute certainty, "proves that this challenge was orchestrated. It proves that Lysander Thornwood’s claimed lineage is fabricated. And it implicates multiple Council members in a conspiracy to destabilize the throne."
Corvus stood abruptly. "This is a lie. These documents are fabricated..."
"Are they?" Eve said, her voice cutting through his protest. "Because they’re authenticated by the Fae territorial archives themselves. They contain handwriting verified as belonging to Aldric, a scholar of your choosing. And they implicate you directly, Magistrate, in a conspiracy that violates every principle this Court is supposed to uphold."
Corvus’s face went dark with rage, but before he could respond, Elder Meridian raised her hand.
"This hearing is concluded," Elder Meridian said, her voice carrying absolute authority. "The challenge is hereby dismissed as fraudulent. The Court will convene in closed session to investigate the conspiracy revealed by these documents. And I am formally recommending to the full Council that Magistrate Corvus be stripped of his position pending investigation, and that Aldric be subject to exile proceedings for his role in this conspiracy."
The chamber erupted into chaos, some shouting in support, some in protest, some simply stunned into silence.
Eve remained standing, completely calm, as the world around her descended into controlled chaos.
When order was finally restored and the Council members dismissed, Eve found herself surrounded by her mates, Raphael, and Elena.
"You did it," Damon said, pulling her into a brief embrace. "You won."
"We did it," Eve corrected, looking at all of them. "Together."
As she made her way out of the chamber, through corridors now buzzing with gossip and shock, Eve felt something shift inside her.
The conspiracy had been exposed. The old guard had been defeated, not through force or power, but through evidence and truth.
That meant something. That proved something about what kind of Queen she could be.
Not just powerful. But just.

The celebration at the Seraphim Court lasted well into the evening following the Council’s verdict.
Factions that had been uncertain about Eve’s leadership moved to publicly support the reform. Alliances shifted. The old guard found themselves increasingly isolated, their conspiracy exposed, their credibility destroyed.
Eve moved through the celebration with her mates at her side, accepting congratulations and well-wishes, watching the political landscape reshape itself in real-time.
But underneath the celebration, something else was happening.
Something darker.
Silas felt it first, a shift in the ambient magic of the Court, a tension that hadn’t been there before. He caught Eve’s arm gently and pulled her into a quieter corner of the celebration hall.
"Something’s wrong," he said quietly, his eyes scanning the room with sharp intensity. "The energy’s shifted. Someone’s doing something magical. Something large."
