Inside the sealed treatment chamber, the rhythmic beeps of the monitors echoed. Green lines pulsed across the displays, slow and shallow.

Daichi adjusted the chakra regulators for the third time, his jaw tight. Shizune had run two additional blood assays, cross-checked with chakra conduction readings, yet the results remained unchanged.

"It doesn't make sense," Shizune whispered, her brows furrowed as she compared the overlays. "Her cells are accepting the serum. No rejection. No degradation. The A.I.P.-X markers are stable. But the metabolic acceleration is flat. It's like she's… ignoring it."

Daichi's hands didn't stop moving as he recalibrated the binding array over Tsunade's abdomen. He spoke quietly, clipped. "I ran thousands of permutations. Every possible way her body could respond—mapped, simulated, verified. This isn't in the model."

He exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing. "I can't figure out why her recovery isn't engaging. Physically, everything checks out. The serum is supposed to work. Her body should have responded. So why hasn't it already?"

The seconds stretched. For Daichi the weight of the room grew heavier and heavier with each second.

At that moment, from outside the chamber, a calm but sharp voice cut through the silence. "Then perhaps the problem isn't physical."

Both Daichi and Shizune froze, heads snapping toward the voice.

Tobirama Senju stood just beyond, arms crossed, his sharp gaze fixed on Tsunade's unconscious form.

The young medic's breath caught in his throat as he looked at the man.

"Think carefully," Tobirama continued, his tone steady. "You've accounted for the flesh, the blood, the chakra pathways. But have you considered her spirit? The mind and will that govern all of it?"

Daichi's eyes widened as the words struck him like a lightning bolt. His thoughts raced—through every chart, every projection, every calculation he had relied on. He felt his stomach twist as the realization clawed at him.

"…Her mind," he whispered. His gloved hand trembled, then curled into a fist. "Of course. Damn it! I've been focusing only on the body. On integration. On stabilizing her cells. But if her will isn't fighting—if her spirit isn't engaging—then none of this will matter."

Shizune's lips parted, stunned. "You mean… her consciousness is resisting?"

"No. I don't think so…" Daichi's eyes sharpened, thunderstruck with a new idea. "It's not resisting. It's more like… absent. She isn't fighting alongside us."

The chakra monitors flickered faintly in the corner of his vision, confirming the flat responses.

'I'll need to check something. Observe.'

[Possible Cause: Deep-rooted trauma, fear, and extreme mental pain and exhaustion. Very low Mana energy.]

'I see. So that's the reason.'

"The serum is only half the battle," Daichi said, voice low but resolute. "If her spirit doesn't choose to heal… then the body alone won't carry her through this."

His pulse quickened. 'The problem isn't in the serum. It isn't in the blood. It's in the soul of the woman who's known as the strongest kunoichi in the world.' Daichi's eyes flickered to Tsunade's face.

Outside the chamber, Hiruzen, Jiraiya and Kakashi looked at the Second Hokage.

"Lord Second, are you saying that this is…"

"A psychological issue. Yes." Tobirama answered Jiraiya's incomplete question.

Kakashi straightened slightly. "You believe her mind is what's holding her back?"

"Yes." Tobirama took a step forward with folded arms, his mind racing. "She's been in pain for days. Her body has changed too rapidly. The trauma, the stress… Now her subconscious might be suppressing her healing."

Jiraiya turned to look at the unconscious woman. 'Right. You've been fighting for days. Sleeping hurts. Breathing hurts. Healing hurts. No one out-muscles that kind of pain for that duration without a cost.'

Hiruzen looked at his former teacher and was amazed. 'As expected of you. You're the man who created countless jutsu. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised that you could see the problem so quickly.'

—-

Inside the chamber, Shizune looked visibly shaken. "She was in agony. Even sedated, she kept flinching, sweating… I tried to ease it with chakra anesthesia."

"All this time—constant nociceptive input. The pain loop's become the dominant signal. If the mind is rejecting forward motion, the body throttles. Doesn't matter if the tools are perfect," Daichi said, "She's not just unconscious. Her mind is slowly breaking. If we don't reach her soon, she'll reject the serum bridge." Daichi turned his head and looked at the Hokage.

"What do you need?" Hiruzen asked him calmly.

"A Yamanaka. The best one you have. I need to go inside her mind."

Hiruzen didn't hesitate and gave the order. "Inoichi."

"Yes, Lord Hokage." An ANBU ghosted out of the room as quickly as he could.

Jiraiya scratched his cheek. "You sure you want to go in there, kid?"

"Yes." Daichi's answer was clean. He created a shadow clone and turned to his fellow female medic. "Keep her vitals stable. My clone will be here with you just in case."

Shizune nodded and the two began preparing. They didn't have to wait long. Soon the doors to the secret room opened and Inoichi Yamanaka strode in. His hair tied and face composed.

He saw the Hokage, Jiraiya, Kakashi, a masked Anbu and finally the unconscious Tsunade inside the isolated chamber. He was slightly startled but then quickly composed himself.

"Lord Hokage." The Yamanaka greeted the leader.

Hiruzen nodded. "Daichi will brief you in a moment. I need you to help him with whatever he needs."

Inoichi glanced at the boy and then nodded to the Hokage. Without wasting another second he entered the small medical chamber and got to business. "Tell me."

Daichi told him everything he needed to know. Inoichi listened carefully and soon understood his purpose. "Alright. Let's not waste anymore time then."

Daichi and Inoichi settled near Tsunade's head. Inoichi's palms pressed gently against Tsunade and Daichi's temples, his chakra flowing with practiced precision. The Yamanaka's voice was calm, but carried the weight of command as he spoke to the Genin.

"Don't lose focus. Your anchor will be my chakra. I'll guide you into her subconscious space. You'll find her, but don't get lost in her memories. Minds aren't built for visitors to linger for long periods of time."

"I understand," Daichi replied quietly, eyes closing as he exhaled once.

"Mind Body Transmission."

For the two ninjas the world shifted the next instant.

Daichi's spiritual form stepped into a barren dreamscape — a cavern made of pulsing red stone and coiled thorny vines. The walls all around were covered in blood.

Daichi swallowed hard and moved forward. 'So this is her inner world…'

Inoichi's voice came in steady, from nowhere and everywhere. "She's anchoring herself against the pain. The mind built a prison to keep sensation from flooding. But the walls are hurting her, and she's too tired to move."

Daichi stepped forward "Sensei," and called out.

There was no answer. The vines flexed, defensive, slow. Daichi began walking but found no trace of her. He tried to sense her but that was also a failure.

He heard the sounds of several familiar and unfamiliar voices as he kept moving forward. 'Those must be from her memories.'

Daichi kept walking for what felt like hours but soon there was a shift in the land.

He reached a clearing, and there, looming in the center was a massive cocoon of thorned vines. The barbs were jagged, pulsing faintly with a red glow. Daichi looked closer, and he could see her.

Tsunade's astral form was curled inside, her figure bound by the vines, skin pale and torn. She was bleeding endlessly, each thorn biting deeper into her body. Her golden hair was matted, her eyes closed tight in pain. Her body trembled faintly.

"Tsunade-sensei!" Daichi called, running toward the cocoon.

The vines shuddered as his voice echoed through the realm.

"Sensei," Daichi said again, louder. "It's me."

A voice broke through, raw and frayed. "Daichi…?" A faint whisper. The weak sounding voice cut through his heart like a blade.

'There you are.' Relief shot through him as he heard the voice. "Yeah," Daichi said, and his throat went tight in a way he would never admit.

He stepped closer, palms pressing against the thorny wall. The vines writhed, resisting his touch, biting into his skin with illusory pain but he didn't even flinch. Chakra pooled from his palm and spread into the prison.

"I'm here, Sensei. You're not alone," he said firmly.

"…hurts…" Her voice was ragged, distant.

"I know. But you have to fight back. You're the strongest person I know." 'Her mind built this… to escape the pain. But it was no use and she's already tired.' Daichi grit his teeth. 'Maybe I can boost her energy… Give her mind a second wind…'

Daichi began transmuting his Yin chakra to become perfectly compatible with Tsunade and started transferring it through his palms.

Tsunade began receiving the energy and slowly opened her eyes in a flutter. "It hurts. Everything hurts..."

"I know. Hang on sensei. Just a bit longer." Daichi's mind was going through several scenarios. 'With the Yin chakra alone, I can help heal her wounds in here but it will take too long…'

Suddenly Daichi had a new idea. He began to gather his Mana energy and slowly and carefully started to transfer it to his teacher. 'This is completely different from what I did to Kimimaro. Instead of sending a large concentrated pulse of Mana energy to attack the target, I'll send small compatible waves of energy to help her regain her mental strength. I need to be absolutely careful though. Need to make sure nothing goes wrong.'

A purple energy invisible to everyone else other than Daichi, flowed from his palms into Tsunade's body. A few seconds later several notifications suddenly appeared in front of him in his mind.

[A new skill is created with a specific action.]

[Through safely transferring your Mana energy into another person, you have created the skill 'Mana - Spirit Link'.]

[Skill Mana - Spirit Link has leveled up.]

[Skill Mana Manipulation has leveled up.]

[Skill Mana affinity has leveled up.]

'Thanks system, but now is not the time to disturb me.'

The Mana wrapped around her, seeping into her spirit. For the first time, the thorns loosened. A faint spark returned to her brown eyes as she opened them. She felt pain but also warm strength returning to her. The fatigue that had accumulated in her mind also slowly vanished.

Daichi was happy that his plan was working. But he also knew that his teacher needed more than just energy to replenish the mind.

"You're safe sensei. You're back in the village. We're all waiting for you to wake up. Jiraiya, the Hokage, me. Even Shizune. You can't give up now. I have the cure. But for that to work, you need to keep fighting for a bit longer. Just a bit more and you'll be free." He spoke as he kept transferring his Mana energy and Yin chakra to his teacher.

The moment Tsunade heard that Shizune was safe, the strength of her spirit soared.

A moment later, an old and stubborn laugh rasped through the thorny vines. "Who do you… think you're… talking to, brat? Have you ever… known me… to give up?"

Tsunade's breathing steadied. Her body glowed faintly within the cocoon, and with a roar of defiance she pulled against the bindings. "Aaaarrrr!"

The vines screeched and soon they tore apart, snapping like brittle glass. Her astral body stumbled forward, bleeding and ragged, but free.

"I got you!" Daichi caught her, steadying her form.

He placed a glowing hand on her wounds, letting his chakra seep into them. The numerous gashes began to close, scars fading into smooth skin.

—-

Outside, her real body trembled. Monitors beeped sharply. Everyone noticed the sudden change and their hearts nearly leapt to their throats.

"Her vitals are rising!" Shizune gasped. "It's working! Her regenerative rate just spiked! The serum's bonding is accelerating!"

Her hands glowed brighter as she reinforced the healing chakra field. "It's really working! The bridge is holding!"

The wounded tissues on her body shimmered and started to seal. Kakashi stepped closer, eyes locked on the readouts on the monitors. "Her body is accepting the serum."

Jiraiya exhaled. "He really did it." There was a big smile on his face.

—-

Inside the mindscape, Daichi met Tsunade's gaze. She looked younger here, her eyes clear of fatigue.

"You're late," she muttered against his shoulder.

Daichi huffed a small laugh. "Sorry. Picked up a terrible habit from my other teacher."

Her mouth twitched—the ghost of a smirk. "…I can't believe you found me… Shizune…" she whispered and asked.

"Don't worry. She's fine. She's worried about you. We all are."

Tsunade gave a faint, tired smile, then straightened. "Tell her not to worry. I'll be on my feet soon."

Suddenly Inoichi's words sounded all around them. "Daichi, it's time to withdraw."

The Genin looked at his teacher and saw her nod.

"Alright. Understood…" The Genin replied to the Yamanaka. He looked at his teacher and now felt reassured. "I'll see you on the other side, sensei."

Tsunade smiled and a moment later saw her student vanish from her mind.

"Thank you… for saving us." She whispered with tears flowing from her eyes, after she was sure her student was gone.
