Chapter 681: Chapter 681- Self Destruct Sequence Activated

After another attack of hers failed, Leona leapt back and observed her enemy.

Interesting. The numerous eyes on her enemy gave it an edge in detection and perception. The demon could even predict the attack the moment it was unleashed.

Cassius was troublesome, very troublesome. Although he was not as strong as Magnus or as fast as Aldric, those eyes gave him an edge the other two didn’t have.

Those numerous crimson eyes covering his body seemed capable of observing everything. Every movement, every feint, every shift of muscle, and every flicker of killing intent. Nothing missed those eyes.

Leona was studying her enemy. However, how could the demon Cassius give her the opportunity?

The enemy followed up with its own attacks. Its numerous eyes stared at the rubble around it. Crimson light flashed, and the rubble immediately started floating up.

Next, like projectiles, they shot toward Leona.

Rocks, broken pillars, weapons... all of them shot toward her with the momentum of cannonballs.

In return, Leona raised her sword.

"[Astral Crescent]."

A brilliant arc of silver light swept through the battlefield.

BOOM... BOOM... BOOM...

All the projectiles hurtling toward her exploded into dust. Then, in that same instant, the commander of the Knights of Lunar Veil immediately retaliated.

Her sword erupted with radiant starlight. Hundreds of luminous particles gathered around the blade and formed a sword light that slashed at the demon at breakneck speed.

The enemy retreated in a hurry, and for the first time, she saw a wound appearing on its chest.

Although it was a shallow cut and healed almost instantly the next second, it nonetheless revealed the enemy’s weakness.

"So that’s how it is." Leona’s eyes sharpened.

The opponent’s ability to predict every attack made it seem almost invincible. However, every power had its own weakness.

The demon could see every attack coming from 360 degrees, but it could not dodge that one slash from her that was made of starlight energy.

The starlight slash earlier contained numerous razor-sharp stardust particles swirling around the blade. Although the demon dodged the slash, it was unable to avoid the swirling dust around it.

This proved that she could damage the enemy and bypass its almost invincible observation. The next exchange confirmed her suspicion.

The same attack and the same pattern. Yet the enemy was unable to dodge, and a shallow gash appeared on its body.

Leona smiled faintly. Now she finally understood. "You are just like those experimental subjects. You aren’t perfect."

Perhaps it understood what Leona said, because the demon became enraged. It came charging at her.

At that instant, numerous stars shone in the ceiling and, in the next moment, they came dropping, taking the shape of swords.

Cassius frantically dodged. Its countless eyes swiveled in every direction, levitating rubble to defend. However, in the end, it was still unable to dodge the stardust and was riddled with multiple wounds.

From this point on, the battle completely fell in favor of Leona.

The same was true for the other heroes as well. Each one of them possessed a weakness that was quickly identified by Gareth and Orion.

.

SLASH... SLASH...

Again and again, Leona brandished her sword, and again and again, Cassius was forced to dodge, battered and injured.

Suddenly, the demon’s body became unstable. Its body ballooned and shriveled at an abnormal rate, almost as if its body could not handle the genetic modification.

Leona halted her attacks and looked at the enemy carefully.

Before long, its frantic fit subsided, and a strong sense of danger assaulted Leona.

Immediately, she activated her movement skill and blinked away from her spot. At the same instant, the numerous eyes on the demon’s body bled, and beams of crimson energy shot out.

BOOM...

Looking at the spot where she had just been a second ago, turning into a puddle of magma, Leona’s delicate brows twitched.

BOOM... BOOM... BOOM...

As if it had gone into a frenzy, it attacked everything and anything wildly. Crimson beams erupted from the eyes scattered across his shoulders, arms, and chest.

One shot into a pillar next to Leona, another beam carved a trench across the floor, and one exploded into the ceiling.

The destructive power within each of those beams was so astonishing that even an Elite Knight would be seriously injured if struck directly.

Although Leona was an Extreme Knight, she had no intention of tanking those attacks.

Under the berserk attack of the demon, the battlefield became a chaotic storm of crimson light.

Any monster around the surrounding area unlucky enough to be hit by those crimson lights died on the spot, their bodies melting into bloody, gory puddles.

Leona remained indifferent. She had already lured it toward the enemy line. Thus, she did not have to worry about any of those beams hitting her allies.

SLASH...

Taking the opportunity when the eyes in front closed, Leona executed a powerful attack. Unable to dodge in time, a deep gash, hideous enough to show the organs within, appeared on the demon.

The more they fought, the clearer her understanding became.

The demon wasn’t predicting the future. He was simply gathering overwhelming amounts of information. His countless eyes observed every detail and fed him the most optimal response.

A terrifying ability.

Unfortunately, it had many drawbacks. One of them was when unleashing those destructive crimson beams.

After unleashing a beam, each eye needed some time to rest and store the energy back for another attack. During that time, they closed down.

With eyes closed, gaps appeared in its previously impervious observation. Leona had simply utilized the gap in observation when some of those eyes on the enemy were closed.

After suffering another injury, a more grave one, it stopped attacking everything randomly and focused its attention on the knight in front of him.

This did not mean that he was out of frenzy. No, in fact, demon Cassius had long gone into a state of berserk.

It was just that, even though it stopped using its brains, its body, that of a previous hero, reacted on its own, thanks to the years of fighting.

It fought using its powerful physique, claws, near-invincible observation, and telekinesis ability.

Leona fought fiercely. After a few exchanges, she deliberately revealed an opening.

Cassius instantly reacted. Several eyes flashed crimson and beams shot out, aimed directly at her exposed flank.

"Got you." Leona smiled. The moment the demon committed to the attack, starlight erupted beneath her feet.

[Astral Step.]

The next instant, her figure vanished.

Cassius’s eyes widened. Before the beams were even unleashed, Leona had already appeared beside him. Another weakness.

During the use of levitation and crimson beams, the demon was unable to move from its place.

The sword descended like a falling star.

[Starlight Severance]

SPLASH... Blood splashed and a diagonal wound, stretching from shoulder to waist, appeared on the demon.

Its regeneration tried to activate, but the starlight lingering within the wound continued destroying the corrupted energy.

If Cassius had been in his right mind, he would have immediately backed away. However, in the state of frenzy, all he knew was to attack relentlessly.

Leona took advantage of the enemy’s weakness to land one blow after another.

One strike... Three strikes... Seven strikes... Fifteen strikes...

Each time her sword flashed, it resembled a shooting star crossing the night sky. After the final slash, she flicked her sword, removing the blood from the blade, and slowly sheathed it.

Silence fell, and behind Leona, Cassius stood in place, frozen.

Then, a short while later, multiple lines appeared on his body, and in the blink of an eye, he split into numerous pieces, his body turning into ash under the power of the starlight.

Leona exhaled slowly. The battle was over.

Across the labyrinth, the remaining fights were ending as well.

Magnus collapsed beneath Gareth’s overwhelming swordsmanship. Aldric was finally brought down by Orion’s lightning-fast assault.

The surviving monstrosities were hunted down by the Sixth Division one after another. Victory belonged to the Dawnbringers.

Yet the price was not light.

The battlefield was filled with injured knights. Broken armor, bloodstained wounds, and heavy gasps.

Numerous knights lay sprawled on the ground, breathing heavily. Although they were heavily exhausted, fortunately, there was no casualty.

Healers rushed around, providing potions and using healing skills on the heavily wounded.

It was then that soft golden light appeared out of nowhere. Tiny specks drifted down from above, like glowing dandelion seeds.

When they landed on the knights, warmth spread around their bodies, and their wounds began closing immediately.

"Huh?"

Many knights were genuinely surprised, while others who had witnessed this skill before sighed in relief.

The countless golden lights continued descending from the ceiling, and before long, it looked like a field of blooming dandelions.

"[Radiant Renewal]." A voice echoed.

The next instant, all the wounds on the bodies of the knights healed instantly. Not only that, their exhaustion disappeared, dust and blood dried off their bodies, and they were filled with inexhaustible stamina.

The knights looked around in astonishment.
