Chapter 1202: Chapter 1202: Failed the Subject Miserably (5)_1

So, Nancy Phillips was eager to know whether Ella Pemberton would stay here.

"You make a good point," advancing two steps, Franklin Cody towered over her, his gaze oppressive, he enunciated each word, "I refuse to answer."

Frowning slightly, Nancy Phillips tilted her head up to look into Franklin Cody’s eyes, unafraid as she responded, "That is your right."

"At least you’re clear on that!" He grunted heavily and stepped back, then shouted, "Nancy Phillips!"

"Here!"

"Disrespecting the instructor, penalty of 500 push-ups!"

"Yes!"

Nancy Phillips responded decisively.

Without any argument, Nancy Phillips got down and started doing push-ups with due obedience.

Seeing her obey, Franklin Cody didn’t linger on her for long and turned his attention to Flossie Wright, who stood ramrod straight beside them.

"Flossie Wright!"

"Here!"

Flossie Wright responded without changing her expression.

"You trained together, same as her, 500 push-ups!" His face dark, Franklin Cody threw the punishment at her.

Glancing at him, Flossie Wright’s mouth twitched slightly, but she called out calmly, "Yes!"

This kind of collective punishment had rarely occurred since they left the new recruits company.

Flossie Wright didn’t like this feeling very much.

But—

Instead of saying the new instructor was fostering their sense of unity, it would be more accurate to say he was deliberately intimidating them.

After a two-second pause, Flossie Wright felt slightly helpless but still complied with the order and began doing push-ups.

During this time, she had been exercising regularly; a couple sets of 500 were not daunting to her, so these 500 push-ups weren’t a severe penalty. Although Flossie was implicated, she wasn’t really in a position to complain.

After the punishment, Franklin Cody really laid it on thick.

The morning training was not a slight increase in intensity compared to before, even the "battle-hardened" Flossie Wright and Nancy Phillips found it "too much to bear" after it was over.

"Too much to bear" meant that Flossie Wright flat-out lay down after training, while Nancy Phillips collapsed to the ground, not even reacting when Franklin Cody announced "Time for breakfast."

They simply didn’t have the physical strength left.

That morning, the atmosphere between Flossie Wright and Nancy Phillips suddenly became harmonious.

As the saying goes—the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Now that they had a common foe, who tried every means to push them into a "deadly situation," the two, sharing a sense of misery, couldn’t afford to be angry with each other. They needed to work as a team, to avoid giving Franklin Cody the satisfaction of their discomfiture.

And—

They hadn’t expected to be put through the wringer by Franklin Cody at the very start of the second phase.

All subjects were continuously upgraded.

The first phase wasn’t over yet when they were sent on a mission, and they didn’t have time for exams afterwards, so Franklin Cody—how thoughtful of him—pulled out the test papers when they were exhausted.

Since there wouldn’t be any more lessons after this, the exam would cover everything they had learned.

The passing score had to be ninety-five or above.

If not qualified, you wouldn’t be allowed to drop out just then; instead, you have to find time to study all the books again during the second phase, with periodic pop quizzes in between.

In the end, Flossie Wright barely passed the exam with a score of ninety-five.

But Nancy Phillips had it rough.

Ninety-three points.

At one in the morning, learning of her score, Nancy Phillips clenched her jaw as she looked at the paper.

Damn it!

She hadn’t reviewed this material for several days, and there had been no mental preparation when training began. Suddenly faced with this, scoring this much was beyond expectation.

But the damn thing was—

She was only two points short!

If she had a score of sixty, perhaps she wouldn’t be so anxious.

"Nancy Phillips!"

After announcing the scores, Franklin Cody immediately shouted out.

"Here!"

Clutching the paper tightly, Nancy Phillips called back with controlled fury.

"You two studied together, if you failed, it only means you didn’t try hard enough!" Staring at her sternly, Franklin Cody said harshly, "Now, a ten-kilometer cross-country on the beach, any objections?!"

"No objections!"

Grinding her teeth, Nancy Phillips yelled back.

"Start now!"

"Yes!"

After shouting, Nancy Phillips crumpled the paper into her pocket and then jogged to the side to pick up her backpack and put it on.

Start running!

"..."

Watching silently, Flossie Wright shot a glance at the severe instructor.

She really feared that Franklin Cody, like he did in the morning, would have her join Nancy Phillips for a ten-kilometer run on the beach.

This was no joke.

Flossie Wright knew that if she hadn’t looked at that booklet two days ago, her exam results would have been worse than Nancy Phillips’.

Several tricks had been tested on the paper.

It could be said that this exam paper went beyond the scope of the test.

For Nancy Phillips to have scored this much was indeed rare.

Probably, Franklin Cody... no, even Ella Pemberton intended for them to fail and have to go over everything they had learned before all over again.

Many points of knowledge, if you don’t review them repeatedly, you simply can’t master them.

Too bad—

Flossie Wright passed.

Probably outside Franklin Cody’s expectations.

"What are you staring at, do you want to run with her?!"

He shot a piercing look at her, his attitude towards Flossie Wright suddenly plummeting.

She guessed it right!

A classic display of annoyance turns to rage.

With a flash in her eyes, Flossie Wright clutched her exam paper and raised her voice in response, "Report, I don’t wish to!"

"Dismissed!"

Glaring at her fiercely, Franklin Cody bellowed, his words laced with obvious irritation.

"Yes!"

Standing straight, Flossie Wright called out crisply.

Immediately, she picked up the paper and turned to head back to the dormitory building.

In the dark, the corners of her lips curled into a sly smile.
