Chapter 217: Chapter 108: A Great Victory! The Ghostly Strategist Lynch
...
"Er..."
Catherine’s cheeks flushed crimson as if she’d been burned, and she scrambled off of Lynch.
Her legs felt so weak when she landed that she staggered, nearly falling over.
Lynch, however, didn’t tease her further. His gaze had already turned toward the beach.
Just then, Scarface realized something was wrong. He began shouting orders, directing his men to flee back the way they came.
’Thinking of running now? Too late.’
A murderous glint flashed in Lynch’s eyes as he gave his Raven Low Speech Staff a light tap.
It was as if this was the signal to attack.
"ROAR—ROAR—!"
Two deafening roars suddenly erupted from the birch forest behind the beach.
The next moment,
THUD! THUD!!
Heavy footfalls thudded against the ground as two enormous zombies charged out of the birch forest, leading the attack against Scarface Craig’s men.
Their forms were indistinct in the darkness, but their gnarled muscles and towering frames were still terrifying to behold.
The one at the very front, nearly twelve feet tall with a body that looked as if it were cast from purple copper, was none other than Lynch’s number one tank: the Corpse Demon.
Following close behind the Corpse Demon was Bloodtooth, a high-stage Tier Three Purple Zombie.
Behind them followed more than ten Black Corpses, the weakest of which were mid-stage Tier One.
With a series of low roars, the Zombie Corps surged forward like a torrent, a dense, deathly aura spreading through the air.
The terrifyingly vicious pressure immediately caused many of the bandits’ legs to go weak, and they stumbled backward in fear.
But that was not all. To the grating sound of bone scraping against bone, ghastly white skeletons rose from the grass, from behind tree roots, and from the shadows, sprouting up like mushrooms after a spring rain.
Among them were the newly promoted Tier Three Skeleton Guard, Bone Jade, and the elite unit of Skeleton Servants under its command, as well as the mere Tier One Skeleton Warrior, Bone Valor, and the cannon fodder troops it led.
Bone Jade’s current form was vastly different from when it was Tier Two.
First, its entire frame was much thicker. Not only had its bones become sturdier, but sharp spurs had also grown from key joints. Two thick plates of bone had sprouted from its shoulder blades, like a gorget protecting its neck.
Its skull was no longer bare, now sporting two short, bony horns. Twin globes of Soul Fire burned fiercely within its eye sockets, hinting at a considerable intellect.
Furthermore, it carried a heavy Bone Knife, the blade of which faintly shimmered with a metallic luster, exuding a menacing aura.
A Netherworld Skeleton of its caliber was known as a Skeleton Guard. Even in the formal Undead Army of the Netherworld, it would be qualified to serve as a Centurion, commanding at least one or two hundred subordinates.
In comparison, the Tier One Bone Valor appeared far too flimsy; standing next to Bone Jade, it looked like a mere grunt.
And that was not all.
On Lake Heart Island, where Lynch stood, figures began to rise from the shadows of what had previously seemed to be just piles of rocks.
To the left were over twenty Skeleton Spearmen led by Bone Spear Haymen. Their bones were thick, their arm joints specially adapted. Each held a javelin, with a quiver slung over its back.
To the right were over twenty Skeleton Archers, each holding a longbow with a quiver on its back, their movements perfectly synchronized.
As their commander was not present, these Skeleton Archers had no leader, so Lynch took personal command of them.
In the center stood a group of Skeleton Mages commanded by a Bone Shaman. They waved their bizarrely shaped magic staffs, beginning to conjure various spells like small Fireballs and Water Arrows.
A ranged assault formation was formed in an instant!
"This, this..."
Scarface Craig looked at the Undead Army pouring from the forest ahead, then glanced back at the ranged troops on Lake Heart Island, poised and ready. His heart sank into an icy abyss.
"Brothers, don’t panic! Focus your strength and charge for the lake! Every man for himself!" After years of living on the edge, Scarface was a hardened bandit. The critical moment only served to awaken his vicious nature. Waving his heavy axe, he roared at his men, "Those who can swim, follow me into the lake! Those who can’t, hold back those bags of bones!"
With that, he was the first to charge toward the lake.
Everyone immediately followed his lead, charging for the water. Even those who couldn’t swim were unwilling to stay behind and fight the Undead Corps. After all, fleeing into the lake offered a slim chance of survival, while staying meant certain death.
However, they had just splashed into the knee-deep shallows.
"GLUG GLUG... SPLASH!"
The calm surface of the lake suddenly began to boil as countless hideous figures burst from the water.
It was the Fishman army of Mirror Lake, a densely packed horde numbering in the hundreds.
Although most of them were ordinary Fishmen wielding crude Bone Forks, clubs, and stone axes, their ranks were bolstered by many elite Fishman Warriors and Fishman Priests capable of casting Low Tier Water Arrow and Healing Skills.
Even more terrifying, seven or eight Freshwater Fish Giants, each over eight feet tall, emerged from the churning water. They charged the shore, waving enormous bone clubs with horrifying momentum.
Behind the Fishman army, a graceful figure could be seen, half-hidden by the water.
The mermaid, Sea Song, floated half-submerged. Her red lips parted, and an ethereal song filled with a strange, magical power drifted across the surface of the lake.
At the sound of her voice, the eyes of every Fishman lit up with excitement. Their movements grew more frenzied and swift, their attacks more ferocious.
