Chapter 192: Chapter 104: Traveling with Two Beauties (Part 2)
’Of course, he figured his mentor was definitely giving Amadis and that other "little junior sister" plenty of private lessons on the side.’
The Undead System was in decline, and their mentor, Annabella, shouldered the hope of reviving their school. It was impossible for her to bet everything on Lynch alone.
This was especially true for the junior sister Lynch had yet to meet. His mentor had mentioned her several times in her Magic Letters, praising her astounding talent and saying her aptitude for the Undead path was "in no way inferior" to her own back in the day.
Therefore, the students his mentor was currently focused on cultivating were likely him—Lynch, Senior Sister Amadis, and the little junior sister. One from each year, perfectly forming a kind of talent pipeline.
But Amadis just waved her hand. "What’s there to congratulate? It’s just a thankless, grueling job."
She seemed unwilling to discuss her promotion further. She turned to Lynch, a faint smile touching her purple eyes. "But you, on the other hand, Junior Brother Lynch. Over in Lakefront Town... I hear you’ve been making quite a splash? Even that old fox Andis was thwarted by you? And you’ve detained that bitch Catherine? Tsk, tsk. You’re living a pretty cushy life, aren’t you~"
As she spoke,
she shot a teasing glance at Avril. "Junior Brother, are you planning to wipe out the entire Holy Light System~? Our mentor expected you to revive the Undead System, but I never thought you’d take such an unconventional approach~~"
"Ahem!" Lynch choked on his ale and quickly waved his hands. "You’re exaggerating, Senior Sister. I was forced into it by the circumstances... It’s a long, sad story, really."
He quickly changed the subject again. "Senior Sister, you mentioned you were having trouble requisitioning military supplies... Perhaps I have some connections that could help you out."
Lynch decided to help his senior, Amadis.
After all, she had helped him so much in the past; he had to return the favor. Besides, talent in the Undead System was scarce these days. There were only a few who were truly capable and had potential.
It was only right that they support one another.
Hearing this, Amadis’s purple eyes instantly lit up, and she leaned forward slightly. "Oh? You have connections in the logistics department, Junior Brother? Do tell."
But Lynch decided to keep her in suspense, picking up a piece of bread and handing it to her. "Eat first. We’ll need our strength to get things done."
Amadis quickly started eating, and Avril followed suit.
After the meal, Lynch took Amadis to the logistics department alone.
Officer Roy had also just finished his meal. When he saw Lynch return so quickly, and with a purple-haired female Mage who had an outstanding air and clearly came from a noble background, a flash of surprise crossed his round face, but it was quickly replaced by a warm smile.
"Ah, Lynch, my friend! And this is...?"
"Officer Roy, this is my senior, Amadis Hayes, the current Battalion Commander of the Iron Wall Battle Group’s Sixth Battalion. Senior Sister, this is Officer Roy of the Third Logistics Division. He’s the most thorough and reliable man for the job." Lynch introduced them familiarly.
"So it’s Miss Hayes! A pleasure, a true pleasure!" Roy had clearly heard of the Hayes family’s reputation, and his attitude grew even more enthusiastic. "I wonder what brings Miss Hayes here today? How may I be of service?"
Amadis quickly explained the purpose of her visit and presented her list of required supplies.
She had originally expected to go through another round of wrangling and delays, and was even prepared to use her family’s connections.
Unexpectedly, after hearing her out, Officer Roy’s smile didn’t waver. He patted his chest and declared, "Miss Hayes serves the Empire on the front lines, a hard and meritorious task. We in the logistics department are well aware of the difficulties your Iron Wall Battle Group faces. This list... shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll have someone allocate the supplies right away."
He called over a subordinate and gave a few quiet instructions.
The subordinates acknowledged the orders one by one, then took the list and hurried away.
In less than a quarter of an hour, all the procedures were completed with dumbfounding efficiency.
Not only were the main supplies on the list fulfilled, but Roy even proactively "helped" adjust the specifications of some less important items to better suit the actual needs on the front lines.
Meanwhile, while Amadis was busy handling the documents, Lynch shook hands with Roy, naturally slipping him a bearer check for over a thousand Gold Coins.
The latter’s smile grew even more effusive.
When Amadis walked out of the Third Logistics Division with the stamped and signed supply allocation documents, she still felt a bit dazed.
Things had gone smoother than she could have ever imagined.
’A matter she expected to take at least three to five days, possibly even requiring her family to step in and apply pressure, was resolved by her junior brother in less than fifteen minutes?’
"Junior Brother, this time... I really must thank you~!" Amadis said, her face full of sincerity.
"Ah, we’re on the same side. What’s the need for formalities?" Lynch smiled, brushing the matter off lightly. "So, Senior Sister, are you planning to head back to your post now?"
Amadis thought for a moment, then shook her head. "I have a week of leave. I was originally planning to use the opportunity to buy some personal things in Orlando... but now~" A smile played on her lips. "I’m actually more interested in following you to Lakefront Town to see for myself how you’ve built the place up."
"Er..."
Lynch’s smile froze.
’Oh, please don’t...’
’Senior Sister Amadis and Catherine are already mortal enemies, and now she doesn’t get along with Avril either. Add Ophelia and Lilith, who are arriving soon, and Lakefront Town will be "too lively."’
’How am I supposed to get any work done as the commander?’
He quickly said, "Senior Sister, I’m not planning on going back just yet. I was going to hit the black market first to hunt for some Magic Equipment."
"The black market? You mean the one the Dark Pupil Commerce Association is holding in three days at the abandoned Black Stone Castle?" Amadis’s eyes lit up. "What a coincidence. I have an entry token too. Since you’re going, Junior Brother, I’ll go along and see if I can find anything good."
