Chapter 131: Chapter 94: Promotion! Lynch, a Half-Step Noble
...
Avril’s face paled in alarm.
She never imagined her master, Lianna, would come rushing over personally, especially at such an awkward moment—catching her sharing a ride with Lynch in such an intimate posture.
Her lips parted, and she was just about to explain.
But how could Master Lianna, nearly mad with rage, possibly listen to an explanation? Like a lit firecracker, her figure flashed forward, and she appeared right in front of Red Rabbit.
"You filthy Undead rat, let go of my Avril!" Master Lianna shrieked, grief-stricken and furious. A searing torrent of Holy Light erupted from her body, surging toward Lynch like an invisible tidal wave.
As a Tier Six Holy Priest, the pressure she unleashed in her fury was immense.
For Lynch, a Necromancer who specialized in Negative Energy, it was nothing short of a catastrophe.
He felt his breath catch, his entire body as if plunged into a scorching furnace. A stinging pain washed over him, and he nearly toppled off Red Rabbit’s back.
Beneath him, Red Rabbit’s legs went soft, and it nearly collapsed to its knees.
The tattered remnants of his Undead army behind him instantly fell into chaos, like an anthill doused with boiling water, and looked to be on the verge of collapsing.
"Master, don’t!" Avril cried out in alarm.
Seeing Lynch’s face turn deathly pale as he swayed precariously under her master’s pressure, Avril felt a pang of panic and pain. Without a second thought, she waved her Holy Radiance Staff.
A gentle Glow Shield instantly unfurled, enveloping Lynch, herself, and Red Rabbit beneath them.
Because they were both born of the same Holy Light Power.
When Master Lianna’s oppressive Holy Light struck the Glow Shield, the vast majority of it was blocked.
The pressure on Lynch lessened dramatically, and he finally gasped for breath. But his gaze had already turned cold.
’This Lianna really is a menopausal lunatic, attacking me without even trying to get the story straight.’
But Avril’s protective gesture was like pouring oil on a fire, only enraging Lianna further.
"Avril, you, you... You’re actually defying your master for this Undead scum?!" Lianna’s chest heaved with rage, her eyes filled with disbelief. Her expression twisted into a snarl. "Bewitched! Yes, you must have been bewitched by some dark magic of his! I will purify this filth that blasphemes the Holy Light today!"
Before she finished speaking, a ball of Holy Light Energy had already coalesced in her hand. The energy rapidly twisted and transformed, in the blink of an eye becoming a Holy Light Short Spear that radiated a sharp, aggressive aura.
This was one of a Holy Priest’s few offensive spells: the Spear of Holy Light.
The spear’s tip was aimed straight at Lynch, its divine radiance illuminating the surroundings as if it were day.
"Lianna, calm down!"
"Stop!"
Seeing this, the expressions of several of the more neutral masters changed drastically, and they all spoke up to stop her.
Master Gwen of the Elemental System even surrounded herself with a swirling gale and moved to block the path between Lianna and Lynch. She said urgently, "Let’s figure out what’s going on first. Lynch is one of our students, too."
Another female master from the Fire Element also chimed in, "Master Lianna, Avril seems perfectly lucid. Perhaps there’s a misunderstanding!"
The brawny master from the Warrior Series took a step forward and said in a low, stern voice, "Lianna, you’re a master. How can you use offensive Magic on a student? Have you no sense of propriety?!"
However, blinded by rage, how could Lianna possibly listen to their advice now?
She shrieked furiously, "All of you, get out of my way! I won’t kill him, but I’m definitely going to teach him a harsh lesson."
A surge of anger rose in Lynch’s heart as well.
’What the hell is this?’
’I exhausted all the resources I had painstakingly built up in the mines to destroy an evil sacrifice and save innocent lives. My Undead suffered heavy casualties, and even old Black Corpse was gone without a trace.’
’I just dragged my exhausted body out of the dungeon, and instead of a reward, the first thing I get is a master from my own academy targeting me—and targeting me so indiscriminately.’
’Is it just because I’m a Necromancer?’
’Just because Avril was a little close to me?’
’These Holy Light System folks really do see us Necromancers as maggots in the gutter.’
The next moment, he quickly pulled out a Tier Two Magic Shield Scroll. Although not as strong as a Tier Three, it should be able to hold for a moment, buying the other masters some time to stop that madwoman, Lianna.
Fortunately, at that same moment, a silver figure shot out and blocked the path directly in front of Lynch.
It was the Silver Armored Corpse.
It was still carrying out the order Master Annabella had left it: protect Lynch.
Despite having been gravely injured in the previous battle—its chest caved in, its body scorched black in many places, and its Soul Fire burning far less brightly than at its peak—it was, after all, a High Tier Undead Unit. The moment it stood there, a powerful, icy aura instantly spread out.
Master Lianna’s movements froze, and a flicker of astonishment and apprehension crossed her eyes.
’A Silver Armored Corpse?!’
’Annabella left it for this brat?!’
’This Silver Armored Corpse is injured, but the pressure it gives off... is still immense.’
It was no wonder.
This Silver Armored Corpse was one of Master Annabella’s main combat corpses, having already reached Tier Seven. Even injured, its imposing presence was not to be underestimated.
If Lianna dared to make a move, the Silver Armored Corpse would undoubtedly surge forward and beat her to a pulp.
The other neutral masters secretly breathed a sigh of relief at the sight.
Although they disapproved of Lianna’s actions, they were ultimately wary of the Holy Light System’s power and didn’t want to offend her completely.
With the Silver Armored Corpse present, they figured Lianna would surely cool her head.
