Chapter 648: Chapter 648: Kids Can’t Sit Still
Originally, Candy could have just asked Zero to know where her brother was, but she had a twinkle in her eye, didn’t ask, and instead turned around and left the office.
Xia Xiaomin, who still had a pile of work in her hands, just glanced over and didn’t pay much attention, thinking that Candy had gone to the number two lab building to find the boss.
To others, the number two lab building was also a restricted area in Candy Science and Technology Park, but to Candy, it wasn’t an issue at all.
If Candy spoke, the AI Zero would let her through directly, and all the access controls were like nothing to her.
Candy didn’t care where her brother had gone; since he wouldn’t let her play with the big toys in the lab, she wasn’t interested in looking for him.
Heading to the CEO’s office to find her sister, Candy was stunned the moment she walked in.
Where is everybody? Where did all the people go? How come no one’s here?
After exiting the CEO’s office, Candy glanced into the finance department. There were people there but not many.
"Is everyone in a meeting?"
Besides this explanation, Candy couldn’t think of any other reason.
Suddenly, Candy felt bored. Without anyone to play with her, she thought it was better not to have summer vacation and just go to school, where at least there were many friends in kindergarten.
Halfway through the morning, Xu Pengfei, after finishing a meeting, was talking to his secretary about arrangements. Just as he stepped into the office with his left foot, Xu Pengfei widened his eyes but couldn’t speak loudly for fear of scaring Candy and inadvertently causing her to fall into the fish tank.
At Xu Pengfei’s signal, everyone stood still. Those behind, not knowing what was happening, understood to keep quiet.
"Ah~"
Suddenly lifted up, still holding a small net, she was startled.
Putting Candy on the ground, Xu Pengfei glanced at the little goldfish still jumping around in her net and said helplessly, "What would you do if you fell into the fish tank and couldn’t get out?"
After a brief pause, Candy compared the opening of the fish tank to her head with her hand.
"No way, my head is bigger than the opening."
Xu Pengfei, speechless, didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t very well say he was worried about the fish. As for scolding Candy, that was out of the question.
Although he was a company veteran and had a good relationship with the boss, it didn’t mean that some of his actions could overstep boundaries.
Some matters, once overstepped, signal that other things in the company might overstep too.
Trust is very hard to build and can crumble in an instant, over one issue.
Just then, Xu Pengfei saw Zhou Yaling peeking in at the door, and he called her over.
"Zhou Yaling, she’s all yours."
"This little one has her sleeves soaking wet."
Zhou Yaling hurriedly came in, first throwing the small goldfish that was still flopping back into the tank, then pulled Candy out.
After bringing Candy to her brother’s office bedroom, Zhou Yaling found a long coat for Candy to change into and said, "My little ancestor, can you be a little bit more well-behaved?"
"If your brother finds out you were playing with water, watch out or you’ll be punished to stand."
"Alright, go play by yourself, don’t run around. Your sister still has a lot of work to do."
After changing Candy’s clothes, Zhou Yaling hurriedly returned to her workstation.
Sitting on the bed, Candy looked at the net placed aside by her sister and pondered for a moment before her eyes lit up.
She remembered that once, Bun had caught a fish in the fountain in the park.
With her net in hand, Candy ran out of the bedroom and shouted to the napping Bun on the sofa, "Bun, let’s go."
Bun lazily stretched, obediently following her.
In the lounge, Feiyan saw Candy coming out and immediately followed.
She had just heard people say that Candy was playing with water in the CEO’s office. She thought there wouldn’t be any danger on this floor and hadn’t been following Candy around. She was typically on the 26th floor, staying in the lounge, but it turned out this idea was wrong.
When there’s no danger, Candy would create it herself.
In the elevator, watching Candy holding the net, Feiyan asked, "Candy, what are you doing with that net?"
"Going to the fountain to catch fish for Bun to eat."
"Cough, cough... Your brother said you can’t play with water."
"Feiyan, it’s fine, the water at the fountain isn’t even as deep as my palm, there’s no danger at all."
Feiyan thought to herself, you misunderstand. The issue isn’t the danger; it’s about not being allowed to play with water.
The fountain wasn’t on, leaving just a shallow layer of water. Standing by the fountain, Candy immediately saw many little fish inside.
"Hey!"
With quick eyes and hands, Candy made a move, and all the fish scattered, leaving an empty net with a single leaf lying quietly inside.
For the next while, Candy learned firsthand about the craftiness of the fish. Despite her efforts, she didn’t catch a single one.
Bun, getting a bit impatient, slowly walked to Candy’s opposite side, quietly crouching down, poised to strike.
In a moment, before Candy could react, Bun had a lively little fish in his mouth. Candy was stunned, and her stubborn streak kicked in.
Determined to catch a fish today, she couldn’t admit defeat in front of Bun.
After the usual brainstorming session ended, Mo Jingchun was walking on the scenic asphalt path in the park when his good mood from enjoying the scenery vanished at the sight of a small figure bent over by the fountain.
Feiyan quietly watched Candy, still engrossed in her fish-catching world, and silently made way for the boss.
So focused, Candy didn’t notice when someone had already replaced her at some point from behind.
"Meow~"
"Shh~ don’t worry, I’ll catch one soon."
Glancing at her, Bun continued licking his wet paws.
"Oh no! How did they get away again?" Candy glared at the scattering fish.
In the next second, Candy felt a hand on her ear, and a familiar voice came from behind.
"Playing with water here?"
"With your slow hands, you want to catch fish? The fish are probably messing with you."
After squatting for about an hour without catching anything, the undeterred Candy handed the net to her brother.
"You try, brother. The fish are so cunning, it’s normal not to catch any."
Mo Jingchun chuckled softly, locked onto one of the fish, and swiftly extended the net in the direction it was swimming.
Under Candy’s dumbfounded gaze, Mo Jingchun casually tossed a small carp to Bun.
"If you’re really bored, go over to the kindergarten. I just saw a lot of kids playing there when I came by."
"What? Isn’t it summer break? Why are there still people?"
"It’s a daycare for playing with kids."
When employees need to work and can’t send their kids back home for a short period, they can only let them play at the kindergarten during the day.
