Chapter 626: Chapter 626: Where’s Brother?
Saturday, strands of spring breeze brushed over the treetops, stirring the ever-green leaves within the neighborhood.
Occasionally, a strong gust would set the bare branches, just sprouting green buds, dancing in the wind.
Such beautiful scenery, but the Hawkeye perched on the rooftop couldn’t appreciate it at all.
For heaven’s sake, he had seen the same scene way too many times; what’s there to enjoy? He’d rather sneak a peek at passing beauties.
The bored Hawkeye somewhat envied the captain and the others. How pleasant to tag along with the boss for shopping, not only could you admire beauties, but also get to eat and drink.
Not like them― a few guys stuck here guarding Candy, not even sure if she’s out of bed.
A day off plus sunshine, it’s the perfect time for an outing or a date. Except for couples, most young adults with a day off choose to sleep in at home.
After a busy week, finally reaching a day off, who wouldn’t sleep in?
In view, Zhou Yaling, in her pajamas, came out from the villa, lifting her right hand to toss the garbage bag accurately into the green bin.
Hawkeye was a bit surprised; at this time of day, Zhou Yaling being awake was really out of the ordinary.
In her dreams, Candy felt someone choking her neck, making breathing a bit difficult.
At the last moment of the nightmare, Candy suddenly opened her eyes and took a deep breath.
With her chest heaving up and down, Candy bewilderingly looked at Bun, who was sprawling on her chest, snoring loudly.
No wonder it felt hard to breathe; with over thirty pounds of Bun pressing down on her chest, it was a miracle she wasn’t suffocating.
Pouting, Candy gave a push with her hand, sending Bun rolling aside from her chest.
Bun looked around cluelessly, and after a short while, closed his eyes, tucked his paws, and continued snoring and sleeping.
Candy was utterly exasperated at the sight.
At this moment, Candy felt as if at least thirty pounds of Bun was sheer ingratitude.
Otherwise, how could he be so inconsiderate?
"Hmph!" Candy extended her little foot and nudged Bun back to his cat bed.
Well, now that she was wide awake, sleeping in wasn’t an option anymore.
The teacher always said the early bird catches the worm; Candy often reminded herself not to sleep in, yet every time she resolved not to, she’d be led astray by her sister.
What else could you do on a Saturday without sleeping in?
Jumping out of bed, Candy opened the wardrobe and randomly picked a set of clothes.
In the wardrobe, each set of clothes was neatly folded by her sister, making it convenient for her to dress herself anytime.
Without much effort, Candy deftly put on her clothes.
Just with this skill, Candy had outdone over ninety percent of kids her age.
Nowadays, kids are mostly pampered; few knew how to dress themselves at a young age, but this is changing, all thanks to the unique parenting methods of post-90s and post-00s parents.
This parenting style is referred to by the post-90s and post-00s as reverse parenting.
The popular saying goes, walk the child’s path, leaving them no path to walk.
Clad in beautiful clothes, with her teeth brushed and face washed, Candy rushed to open her sister’s bedroom door.
It was fine to stay asleep, but waking up sparked her hunger.
"Sis..." Candy’s sweet call to her sister abruptly stopped.
The pink room was filled with a light, pleasant fragrance.
Yet, on the two-meter-wide bed, the quilt was neatly folded, with no sight of her sister.
"Sister’s up already? Wow, a miracle."
Brush in hand, Candy headed downstairs and found her sister in the kitchen, ready to hand over the brush to have her hair done, but noticed her sister was holding a rice cooker with a troubled expression.
"Sis, we’re out of rice, just cook some more."
In the next moment, Zhou Yaling tilted the rice cooker, revealing a full pot of white rice.
Confused, Candy scratched her head and said, "That much rice is enough for two meals. Why the long face, sis?"
"Sigh..."
Zhou Yaling let out a deep sigh.
"Opened the pot too early while the rice was cooking."
"Huh?"
Candy, full of question marks, looked at her sister: "What does that mean?"
"Undercooked."
Suddenly understanding, Candy nodded, saying, "Oh, so the rice isn’t done yet."
"Undone is undone, why make it sound so profound."
"What now, I’m hungry too."
Zhou Yaling placed the rice cooker aside, casually said, "Cook noodles."
"Then what about the rice?"
Hearing this, Zhou Yaling paused, then said with a straight face, "Simple, add water and cook it again. Tsk tsk, Little Grey is in for a treat."
Right then, Candy blurted out, "Sister, Little Grey isn’t stupid, with dog food available, would he eat undercooked rice?"
Unable to hold back a giggle, Candy pondered what would happen if her brother found out.
Suddenly, Candy froze.
Yeah, where’s Brother?
After making a round from upstairs, she saw no sign of him anywhere.
How could such a big living person just disappear?
"Sister, where’s Brother?"
Adding water to the noodles, Zhou Yaling replied without turning her head, "Not at home."
"Impossible, Brother always takes me with him." Candy retorted confidently.
In fact, Candy’s retort made perfect sense.
Since she could remember, her brother always brought her along whenever he went out.
"I wouldn’t gain anything from lying to you."
For a moment, Candy was in a daze.
Could her brother really have gone out to play on his own?
"Where did Brother go?"
Zhou Yaling scoffed, "Where else? On a date, of course."
"Why didn’t Brother take me?"
Huh? Zhou Yaling looked down at Candy for a while, and then seriously nodded.
"Big Brother was right, you truly are a two-hundred-watt light bulb capable of blinding eyes."
Instantly, Candy felt wronged, crossing her arms and tilting her small chin up, responding defiantly:
"I’m so cute; how could I be a light bulb?"
"Besides, taking me along to play, what does that have to do with being a light bulb?"
Finding it amusing, Zhou Yaling didn’t bother to explain.
As of now, dealing with the undercooked rice indeed seemed tricky. Pity it wasn’t back home, or else with a big iron pot adding water, it could be cooked through. Unfortunately, the kitchen only had two frying pans, without a steamer, making it impossible.
Perhaps give Little Grey some to see if it’s willing to eat?
The little one, seeing her sister ignoring her, stomped off in a huff.
Sitting on the sofa, Candy used her smart watch to call her brother, but no one answered.
"Ugh~ so annoying! Brother must have sneaked out for bubble tea."
Suddenly, an idea struck Candy’s mind.
"Hehe, got it."
After searching for a while, Candy finally found Li Xuanyu sister’s number in the contact list.
Zero, who had been closely watching Candy, silently mourned for the leader for three seconds.
Worthy of Old Mo Family’s excellent genes, smart since young. Anyone who dared say Candy was dumb, Zero would be the first to disagree.
