Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Superpower Explosion
During the meal, Sierra Sullivan noticed another issue.
Jayce’s appetite had grown.
Based on their usual appetites, the three of them should never have been able to finish all the food on the table.
But as they ate, Sierra Sullivan realized that before she was even full, the plates and bowls on the table were nearly empty.
This came as quite a shock to her.
She instinctively looked over at Jayce and saw him shoveling rice from his bowl, eating with intense focus and incredible speed.
Only after he had shoveled the very last mouthful of rice into his mouth did Jayce finally seem to snap out of it and look up at Sierra Sullivan.
Their eyes met, and it was as if Jayce’s senses finally returned to him in that moment.
"Sierra... what’s wrong?"
Looking at the slightly dazed and adorable Jayce, Sierra Sullivan felt a laugh coming on, but she managed to suppress it. Instead, she asked curiously, "Are you still hungry?"
"Yeah!"
Jayce said, rubbing his stomach.
"I’m only about fifty percent full!"
He looked utterly pitiful as he said it.
Sierra Sullivan had never seen this side of Jayce before.
It was both amusing and heartbreaking to see.
"It’s okay if you’re not full. You can eat more in a bit!"
Sierra Sullivan said, then turned to Candice Tate. "Candice, are you full?"
Candice Tate was nibbling on a slice of watermelon. The juice had stained her lips an even deeper red, making them look glossy and all the more adorable.
Hearing Sierra Sullivan call her name, she looked up.
"I’m full!"
Her tone was full of the cheerful satisfaction that only comes after a good meal.
’Good, as long as she’s full!’
Sierra Sullivan had been worried Candice Tate wasn’t full yet.
After all, it wasn’t easy to bring out more cooked food on such short notice.
Later, after Candice Tate went to sleep, the two of them could go back to their room and eat whatever they wanted.
By now, Jayce’s brain had finally started working again.
"If you’re both full, go on to the living room. I can take care of things here!"
Jayce had a Water Ability, so washing dishes was an incredibly simple and convenient task for him.
Sierra Sullivan certainly wasn’t going to argue with him. She led Candice Tate to the living room.
Candice Tate looked at Sierra Sullivan curiously. "Big Sister, what if Big Brother isn’t full? How did he suddenly start eating so much?"
"It’s fine, we’ll let him have some cookies later!" Sierra Sullivan said with a smile. "It’s probably because his Superpower has improved, so his appetite has grown along with it."
That Superpowers could increase a person’s appetite was something Sierra Sullivan had suspected before, and now it was simply being confirmed.
While this wasn’t a problem for Sierra Sullivan, who had plenty of supplies, it probably wasn’t a good thing for many of the other Superpower Users at the base.
An improved Superpower meant enhanced strength, which was certainly a good thing.
But not everyone was like her, with so many supplies.
’Looks like I’ll have to talk to Kevin Everett about this tomorrow and get the provisions for Superpower Users increased.’
’Otherwise, not getting enough to eat could seriously affect a person’s condition.’
After making a mental note of the matter, Sierra Sullivan set it aside for the time being.
Sierra Sullivan took out the Crystal Cores they had collected today from her backpack.
They had encountered many Aberrant Beasts today, so naturally, they had obtained many Crystal Cores.
The Aberrant Beasts were of different levels, so the Crystal Cores varied in size.
Now, Crystal Cores of all sizes covered half the table.
Though the Aberrant Beasts were disgusting, their Crystal Cores were truly beautiful.
A lamp was on in the room, and under its light, the Crystal Cores seemed even more brilliant. Just looking at them was enough to captivate one’s gaze.
Candice Tate stared intently, letting out a sigh of admiration.
"Wow! These Crystal Cores are so pretty!"
Sierra Sullivan nodded in agreement. "They really are! Candice, how about we absorb some Crystal Cores now? We can start with this slightly larger one and work our way up."
"Okay!" Candice Tate agreed immediately.
With that, Candice Tate picked up a Crystal Core and held it in her hand.
She never found cultivating her Superpower to be a boring or tedious task; on the contrary, she was fascinated by it.
Every time she was asked to train, she was proactive, cooperative, and incredibly diligent.
She wouldn’t stop until she absolutely couldn’t absorb any more.
That level of self-control and diligence alone was something many adults couldn’t match.
Sierra Sullivan didn’t cultivate her own power. Instead, she sat beside Candice Tate and watched, just in case anything unexpected happened.
As she watched, Sierra Sullivan couldn’t help but be astonished.
Candice Tate’s talent was truly amazing!
And not just in an ordinary way!
In two hours, Candice Tate had absorbed more than a dozen Crystal Cores.
The last one was the largest Crystal Core of them all.
It was identical to the one Jayce had absorbed last time.
After absorbing this Crystal Core, Candice Tate opened her eyes, which were shining with an unusual brightness.
"Big Sister."
"Hm?" Sierra Sullivan immediately sat up straight, her eyes fixed on Candice Tate. "What is it?"
"I want a lot of seeds."
The moment she heard this, Sierra Sullivan instantly understood what was happening.
Previously, after Jayce broke through to the Third Level, he had trouble controlling his Superpower, and a thick mist had enveloped him.
Candice Tate was likely in the same state now.
Without a moment’s delay, Sierra Sullivan immediately took out a large quantity of seeds from her backpack and placed them all in front of Candice Tate.
Candice Tate covered the seeds with her small hands.
In the blink of an eye, all the seeds sprouted.
All sorts of plants began to grow at a rapid pace, and within moments, they had surrounded both Sierra Sullivan and Candice Tate.
Looking at the ever-increasing number of fruits and vegetables around her, Sierra Sullivan was completely stunned.
She had never imagined that she would one day be surrounded by so many fruits and vegetables.
The feeling was truly surreal!
But Sierra Sullivan wasn’t displeased in the slightest; she was simply overjoyed.
The stronger Candice Tate’s Superpower became, the more food crops she could grow, which was an increasingly good thing for the base.
This was especially true for the plan Kevin Everett was about to implement, which required a massive amount of supplies for support.
She had worried they wouldn’t be able to handle the burden before, but now she didn’t have to worry at all.
About ten minutes later, the entire living room was piled high with crops.
Sierra Sullivan and Candice Tate sat amidst the pile of crops, looked at each other, and in the next moment, burst out laughing at the same time.
The clear, joyous laughter carried into the kitchen, drawing Jayce out.
When he saw the scene in the living room, Jayce knew what had happened without needing to ask.
He bent down, casually picked a tomato bigger than his fist, and took a huge bite.
The bright red tomato was full of juice, perfectly sweet and sour.
With one bite, the sweet and tangy juice flowed down his throat and into his stomach, bringing Jayce immense satisfaction.
Sierra Sullivan had cherry tomatoes of various colors right beside her.
You could pop them into your mouth one by one, which was more convenient. They were also bursting with flavor, more delicious than any cherry tomato Sierra Sullivan had ever eaten before.
