Chapter 110: Chapter 110: If I Could Beat You, I’d Definitely Give You a Beating

Jayce was just about to run toward Sierra Sullivan, but another Aberrant Beast charged at him.

This time, two of them came rushing over!

Seeing the two Aberrant Beasts that had suddenly appeared, Jayce felt no fear at all, only immense annoyance.

’Anything that dares get in my way of reaching Sierra must be eliminated!’

The moment that thought surfaced, Jayce felt his previously depleted Superpower suddenly and completely recover.

No!

It wasn’t just a recovery.

In fact, it felt even more abundant than before.

The sensation... it was like he’d had a breakthrough.

Jayce hadn’t expected to have a breakthrough at a time like this.

It was unexpected, but a good thing nonetheless.

Jayce casually launched two Water Arrows. The two massive, ferocious Aberrant Beasts were killed instantly, crashing to the ground.

General Aldridge, who was standing not far away, happened to witness the scene and instinctively raised an eyebrow.

’If I’m not mistaken, Jayce’s Superpower just had another breakthrough, didn’t it?’

’How wonderful!’

’Young people truly have limitless potential!’

’With youngsters like them around, there’s hope for this world yet!’

The other survivors who witnessed this were overjoyed.

While they envied Jayce for having a breakthrough at such a crucial moment, they weren’t the least bit jealous.

On the contrary, they were nothing but happy and relieved.

Jayce’s breakthrough had greatly increased their chances of survival!

Otherwise, with so many Aberrant Beasts left and their Superpowers nearly depleted, they truly didn’t know if they could have held on.

After realizing his Superpower had broken through, Jayce confirmed that Sierra was in no danger and stopped rushing to her side.

He became like The Reaper incarnate, proactively striding toward the Aberrant Beasts.

Any Aberrant Beast he targeted was essentially killed in a single blow.

Even if one strike wasn’t enough, two would finish it off completely.

Ten minutes later, the battle was over.

The endless waves of Aberrant Beasts finally ceased.

Perhaps it was because Jayce had been so utterly brutal that the Aberrant Beasts had finally felt fear and no longer dared approach.

The battle was finally over, and everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Seeing some people collapse onto the ground, General Aldridge barked, "All of you, on your feet! Is this any time to rest? If you want to die, no one’s going to stop you!"

His words were harsh, but everyone knew in their hearts that General Aldridge was right.

The immediate danger had passed, but that didn’t guarantee their continued safety.

No matter how exhausted they were, the most important thing to do was extract all the Crystal Cores and get back to the base as quickly as possible.

At General Aldridge’s urging, the group immediately started processing the Aberrant Beast corpses to extract the Crystal Cores.

Jayce paid no mind to these tasks, instead rushing to Sierra’s side.

"Sierra!" Jayce said, looking at her with concern. "Are you okay?"

Sierra shook her head, giving Jayce a brilliant smile. "Of course I’m fine! Congratulations! Another breakthrough for your Superpower! You’re at the Third Level now, right?"

Jayce nodded. "I am! If you had been the one to absorb that Crystal Core—"

"Don’t talk about ’what if’s’!" Sierra interrupted. "Look, you killed so many Aberrant Beasts. Soon we’ll have plenty of those Crystal Cores! So don’t worry about what could have been! Let’s just focus on the now!"

At her words, Jayce began to smile as well. "You’re right, Sierra! I’ll do whatever you say!"

Sierra was about to say something more, but Jayce pulled her into his arms.

Jayce hugged her tightly, as if trying to merge her into his own body.

Sierra froze for a second, but then quickly relaxed, letting Jayce hold her.

Even though the embrace was a little too tight, almost uncomfortably so, Sierra didn’t struggle.

She raised a hand and gently patted Jayce’s back, comforting him in a soft voice. "Don’t be scared. I’ll stay alive. I’ll always be with you."

Others might not have noticed, but held in his arms, she could clearly feel his body trembling.

It was the fear, hitting him only after the danger had passed.

He was formidable, his Superpower was immense, and he had killed countless Aberrant Beasts.

But he could feel fear all the same.

Just as she was afraid of losing him.

General Aldridge stood a short distance away, a smile in his eyes as he watched the two embrace.

But when all the Crystal Cores were collected and it was time to leave, the pair still hadn’t separated, and General Aldridge’s smile faded.

The General had no choice but to walk toward them. As he got closer, he called out, "Alright, you two, that’s enough! We’re still out in the field! Can’t you wait until we’re back at the base to keep hugging?"

Hearing General Aldridge’s teasing tone, a faint blush crept onto Sierra’s cheeks.

She hadn’t thought anything of it a moment ago, but now that the General pointed it out, she felt their display had been a bit inappropriate.

Jayce, however, had no such reservations.

Though he released Sierra from the hug, he kept her hand tightly clasped in his.

Jayce looked at General Aldridge. "The love of young people is sincere and passionate. You’re old. You wouldn’t understand!"

General Aldridge was speechless. "..."

After staring at Jayce for a long moment, General Aldridge finally said, "If I thought I could beat you, I’d definitely knock some sense into you right now."

’That brat is so infuriating!’

’It figures. Jayce is always the same, no matter what!’

Sierra tugged on Jayce’s arm. "Come on, let’s get in the vehicle! Back to the base! It’s getting late!" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

They had been delayed for so long that the sky was already starting to darken.

Traveling after dark would be dangerous.

’The last thing I want is to spend the night out here!’

The three of them boarded the vehicle. It started up quickly and continued on its way to the base.

The front windshield had been cracked by an Aberrant Beast. The gap wasn’t large, but as the vehicle moved, wind whistled through, carrying sand with it.

The people inside the vehicle had no choice but to put on masks and close their eyes.

Even so, Sierra could feel eyes on her from time to time.

The gazes were always incredibly complex.

A mixture of shock and fear.

Sierra knew they were likely afraid of her because of what had happened with that other woman.

From their reactions alone, Sierra guessed what had become of the woman.

’She must be dead.’

’Otherwise, these self-righteous survivors wouldn’t be acting so docile and quiet.’

’Which is a good thing!’

’At least I don’t have to listen to their endless, nonsensical chatter anymore!’

As for their fear, or what they truly thought of her, Sierra couldn’t care less.

The rest of the journey passed without incident.

They made it back to the base before nightfall.

Someone else would arrange accommodations for the survivors, so Sierra and Jayce didn’t need to worry about it.

The two of them went with General Aldridge to report directly to Kevin Everett.

As soon as they entered the room, Sierra could tell something was wrong with the atmosphere.

"What’s wrong?" Sierra asked quickly. "Did something happen?"
