Chapter 74: Complainer
(Supreme Meeting Room, The Citadel, Citadel City.)
Four men sat around a long table that stretched for over two hundred centimetres as they conversed. All sat freely and were all having a good look on their faces except one person.
This person was a middle-aged man sitting on the far end. He wasn’t entirely out of the mood, but he wasn’t rejoicing with them at all.
He was calm, and seemed to be looking like he was trying to figure out how to fix a certain issue.
Wait... Actually, it seemed more like he was looking for the right time to pour out his complaints.
And it was when a man dressed in a white semi-modern outfit walked into the room that he had his face showing a little bit of relief, but that hadn’t stopped him from having that indifferent look even after.
They all stood up to welcome the man. He walked majestically, holding a silver rod. He had the kind of aura that demanded respect immediately.
"Your Honor."
"Your Honor~!"
They all greeted, as he urged them to go back to sitting with a single gesture of his hand. They all sat back, and suddenly the competition to speak began.
"Your Honor!"
"Your Honor!"
"Hey, don’t you interrupt me. I was in the council before ya!"
"I worked for the Adventurer Committee for many years. You have no right to say such words to me, Barren!"
"You are such a..."
"QUIET!!!"
Things were already getting tense before the man in white shunned them at once, and they immediately obeyed before they even realised.
"I will take it one by one. Varys, you first," he turned to the man on his right-hand side and said.
"Thank you, Your Honor. I just had to inform you. The leader of the Third Level Guild Group, Warden, has successfully completed his mission in Blood Trial Outpost. All the plans were fully executed, and as it stands now, the entire outpost has been wiped out, with their best Entrants dying in the hunt as plotted," Varys explained.
"That’s awesome. We are rewarding Warden and his group a thousand Gold," the man in white said after giving a good nod.
And then he turned to the one on the left-hand side.
"And you, Barren."
"We already contacted the Steel Emperor and assured him that everything was done. His Hand stated that he is pleased, and that his messengers would review it before he grants us the deal," Barren announced.
"That’s great. That’s the most important thing we have to grasp, no matter what. We can’t let a mere community of lowlifes destroy our golden opportunity. If we secure that deal, we would be the only community in this part of our region to do so. We can’t let it slip off our hands," the man said.
His face seemed to have brightened a bit, and the second man only talked about reports of trades and activities going around the city, so he turned to the other man at the other end.
"Now you, Gavin."
"Your Honor. Inasmuch as I’m a very big fan of what had happened in the valley, I still don’t think wiping out the entire outpost was ideal. But since it is already done and we can’t go back on it, I suggest that a new group of lowlifes be taken there to begin a new community. We would warn them about the past and what doing certain things might get them into.
Whatever and however it goes, we still need that outpost running."
"Can you give me a good reason why that outpost should still be functioning? You have ten seconds," the man in white suddenly said.
"Errr? I umm... Your Honor... The... The community... Err... You have to believe me first..."
"Alright, time’s up. You seem to be against our ambitions here, Gavin. Call the guards to take him. He will be on house arrest while he figures out if he has been on any agenda.
If he has, we hang him right at the entrance of the market... If he hasn’t... Then good for him."
The man walked out of the room after saying that, accompanied by three men as two other men dashed into the room to grab the complainer.
The man in white happened to be the great Mayor of Citadel City, the supreme ruler of one of the growing cities in the Reach.
He was known for his cruelty and his one-chance principle.
You would never see him giving a second chance to anyone. Not even his own loved ones... You mess up once, you get screwed.
Ferdinand Skyrow, already a popular figure all over the Reach, and a man so desperate to gain the good side of the Steel Emperor of the Steel Empire.
And to get that, he had to sacrifice the small community he never once cared about, wiping them out with a complex strategy that wouldn’t get people wondering how the people of the Citadel took out their own outpost.
And fortunately, it was successful, but this was just the beginning.
"Now we have to think about finding that Roman boy. The clever rat," he muttered to himself as he headed straight to his chambers.
"Getting the deal would be great, but it would be even greater when I get hold of him and hand him over to the Steel Emperor. If we do that, we are going to be the best friends the Steel Empire would have around here, because when he gets hold of him..."
"His daughter would definitely come looking for him," Ferdinand said, an evil smile appearing at the corner of his lips.

Meanwhile, a certain group of six gathered in Strength City, runners parked everywhere, as they were dressed nobly like they were visiting someone of very high value... Or more precisely...
Someone who was above their levels.
Lyra Caverly, Sapphire Sterling, Pete Lawns, who’s known as the nonchalant Nightmare, Melissa and Melisandra Good, and the admin herself, North Rockbridge!
It was like a group of elites going for a long ride, and that was actually what they were. There’s no doubt that S-rankers are elites, and the aura alone would command nothing but respect and order.
"We get to Blood Trial Outpost, we honor one of our own as he has experienced a great disaster. We all know who Roman Rings truly is to us, and even if he doesn’t know that, we wouldn’t deprive him of his honor.
And that’s why we would get through everything that caused the outbreak and why it happened. But before that..."
North glanced at every one of them.
"We have one certain mission in the valley, and that is to clear every monster territory from the entrance to the exit. The beginning to the end."
"Nothing would be spared."
